The one thing I didn't accomplish was eating breakfast at home. For someone who keeps the Sabbath, we're really not supposed to be spending money on Saturday, but today I decided to make an exception.I've been loyal to this business since I was about 10 years old. My best friend and I used to sneak away from church with the money our parents gave us for offerings and come buy bagels instead. Looking back, that's probably not our finest moment, but it was definitely one of our traditions!It made me happy to see that Happy Bagel & Donuts is still around and thriving after all these years. I was sitting there enjoying a freshly baked chocolate croissant that was made just for me after I ordered it, when I overheard the people next to me talking about how they had driven all the way from Orange County just to get donuts from this place. That story alone made me smile.I was only there for about 20 minutes, and the place stayed packed the entire time. Part of me wanted to think it was because of that offering money I gave them all those years ago--just kidding! The chocolate croissant was absolutely delicious, and there are plenty of other items on the menu that I'd love to try. I'll definitely be back... hopefully on a day that isn't Saturday.
