The first time I came here was when visiting my college friend I had not seen in years for her birthday. There were a few of us and we stayed in her guest cottage and then did day trips around the area, one of the sites we stopped was here. Perfect little place to buy her the perfect gift of an iron cast orange enameled bunny, which still to this day sits out on her pond come rain, shine or snow. This quaint little cottage, yes it is a cottage and it is green, has soooo many wonderful and unique gifts to choose from, it is hard to decide what to buy. So, when I was again visiting my friend and we again stopped here and I picked up quite a few items I had not really expected to get but all of which I love!. They offer such wondefullly unique gifts for yourself or others that you get carried away. Plus they have a gorgeous variety of beautiful flowers and arranged so expertly that you will definitely make a wonderful impression. Apparently from what I see in the reviews, Dennis is well known for his flower arrangements... not surprising. I called them today at 5:03pm to leave a message (Google said they were closed and opened Monday morning; they closed at 5pm) A very close friend is about to pass away after a long illness. As an avid gardener herself, she is pretty well known in town with spectacular gardens. They answered the phone, took my order, and told me it would be delivered first thing in the morning. Perfect, no problem. *** Within the hour, I received a call from the recipient that she had received the most beautiful florals. The flowers for my wedding were unbelievable!! We found Dennis and the Green Cottage through a bunch of internet searches and after seeing examples of his work and meeting with him, I knew it would be spectacular. We came in with a budget and a style and Dennis worked with us to create a beautiful look for exactly the price we wanted. We wanted our wedding to feel simple and summery, beautiful but not too "styled" or elaborate. He added suggestions to make the idea a true design and it was truly gorgeous. We even asked if he could put a few extra flowers on the cake since we decided not to do a topper. When I saw the cake, my jaw dropped. Again, simple. But oh so beautiful. I even decided on a couple of flowers for my hair and the day of Dennis showed up with them as well as a couple of beautiful orchids. "I felt inspired. In case you want to use them..." he said. Dennis and his team did a phenomenal job on our flowers for our wedding day. Working with the green cottage in general was an absolute pleasure. They were very accommodating and flexible to our vision! From the arbor to the small accents on our wedding cake everything was stunning. The florals were runners on our tables instead of center pieces and numerous guests came up to us to express how romantic and beautiful it made the event. I seriously do think that this is as good as a florist can get; for stopping by and asking for a $10 bouquet. This shop has been around for maybe 8 or 9 years and during that time their quality has not quivered. Their bouquets are always super fresh, amazingly colorful AND they always are far more unique than the type of arrangement you would get from an FTD florist. Really, this is my favorite florist in the whole world. As an added bonus Green Cottage has a very nice shop with quality jewelry, greeting cards, hats & scarves and the like. We had an idea of the colors and flowers we would like but the flowers we had in mind were very expensive. We used Dennis as the florist for our wedding at Full Moon Resort (another Catskill gem - see my review for more), and he went above and beyond. We were looking for a loose, natural look to the flowers, in keeping with the setting, and Dennis knew exactly what we wanted. He was incredibly patient & accommodating with our back-and-forth planning, and delivered the most incredibly stunning arrangements! He mentioned that our particular aesthetic took him a bit out of his comfort zone... if that's true, he needs to travel there more often! We used the Green Cottage when we were looking for a casket spray for my brother's funeral. I wanted something bright, tropical, and gorgeous. A friend suggested checking out this place after another local florist did not have what I wanted. Dennis was very friendly and accommodating. I knew right away after seeing his refrigerators full of exotic flowers that this was the right place. Not only did he arrange a magnificent casket spray, he also came through for me on an extra standing arrangement for the funeral when the online florist called me, 15 minutes before flowers were due to be delivered, saying they were unable to fulfill my order. If you are in need of flowers, this is the place. Really. i know a couple of my reviews may give the hometown an extra star but this place is six stars with the hometown bonus. The flower arraingments are wonderful and my wife is very pleased with me whenever I bring her something from here. Bring them a container or a dollar amount and they will hook you up with something to be proud of. On your way to a housewarming, wedding, babyshower, birthday party, and need a last min. gift. You will find something original and special here. Maybe the life size, bright orange, deer is not your speed, the jewelry is great and much of it is made by one of the owners. Gentlemen, just had a fight with your woman and looking to smooth things over? This is the place. Seriously. From the flowers to the tissue paper they wrap them in, to the ribbon they tie them up with, these flowers are luxurious and classy at a resonable price. The arrangements are breathtaking and I love how I can walk in and say "make me something for $15 with pink flowers", and they will! And it will look AMAZING. Dennis is an artist when it comes to flower arrangements. I was truly blown away by his spectacular work and so were all of my guests. Guests will not stop calling me with compliments! Prior to our first meeting, he reviewed my pinterest board and to my surprise, had ordered flowers I loved for our first meeting. On July 27th, 2014 my daughter Joanna and her fiancé Ike got married at the Full Moon Resort, in Big Indian, NY. Dennis, owner of Green Cottage did the flowers for the wedding. The arbor was beautifully decorated with an abundance of gorgeous flowers. The table arrangements were substantial, stunning, bold and vibrant and the bouquets and boutonnières looked so lovely against the bridal party's attire. The corsages for the mothers and grandmothers were sublime. I have frequented exceptional and elegant hotels and restaurants in Manhattan in the past. I can easily envision his floral designs in the Plaza, Waldorf Astoria or The Four Seasons. His work is exquisite.
