We booked this way in advance. Tons of people were waiting at the 7pm open. Several turned away,…read moresome actually booked the wrong Sal grosso because they have a sao bento location also. This location is right by train station so make sure you get that right.
We tried all the starters, all the desserts, and 4 mains (Pork Belly, Pork Cheek, Beef cheek, and Bacalhau a bras).
The winners are:
1) The olives
2) Pork Belly with orange Salad
3) Beef Cheek
4) Chocolate Mousee
The Bacalhou a bras tasted like tuna helper, it was a miss for us, and we love seafood, we were just 4 straight days of it so we looked at other things here.
If you get the bread starter, get the cheese starter also to put on the bread. Otherwise skip both.
People rave about the Pork Cheek, but we all thought it was mid. Beef cheek with the sweet potato mash was far superior.
Pork Belly with Orange salad was best main hands down. would have like to try a couple other things, but this was more food than we needed for 4 people.
The food comes out as its ready. And each main is sharable, which I would recommend, or you'll just be sitting waiting and letting food get cold.
The portugese pudding has pig fat in it, so it has a bit of a baconish taste, its slight, but its enough its a bit weird for me. The creme brulee was okay, but the mousee was the best for sure.
Te aproveche!
