It is a take-out spot, catering to the city's downtown office workers. Their menu includes a variety of 'healthy' Hawaiian and Asian cuisine, including salads, smoothies and bubble-tea. I ordered the salmon poke bowl. It came out to about $15. The portion was relatively small for what I expected. The salmon had a strange type of mayo spice on it. The crunch flakes used were reminiscent of cheap Frito corn chips. Overall I was disappointed. I was looking forward to Hawaii Kai as an alternative to Freshii (also located in the mall), but with it being much more expensive for sub-par quality, I think I will be pass on this in the future and head back to Freshii for their rice bowls (I know this is not an apples to apples comparison). This scores 3 out of 5 mainly because of its location and it being the second spot in Winnipeg to offer Poke.

I wish they had some milk or cheese tea options like at some other places. The food stall is found in the middle of the hallway and is easy to find.

It opened in November and has the same bright and colourful feel as the Corydon one though this one feels larger. Menu is the same and staff are friendly and my orders were promptly made as it was quiet mid-week day. I tried the Warrior ($7.49 + $1.99 chicken add on) brown rice, corn, red onions, tomatoes, carrots, black beans, cajun spice, ranch dressing. Feels like I am just eating rice and beans so I would not order this again. Ranch dressing didn't give it much flavour either. Any burrito can be made into a bowl so I chose the Tex Mex ($7.99 + $1.99 chicken add on)brown rice, black beans, corn, avocado, aged cheddar, pico de gallo, salsa. This one had more flavour though a bit more cheese and salsa would be better. Overall, I think the Mediterranean bowl is probably the best one I've had so far. Food is like the namesake, it's fresh for sure and you don't feel heavy and weighed down after eating their food. Everything ends up being around $12 or so after tax (if you add a protein) - a tad more than a classic fast food place but obviously much healthier. Another reason I prefer this location as there's way more parking then the Corydon Village one. :-)

Loaded means more than one piece of lettuce, with mayo and the rest, and should have a melted piece of cheese on it. A hot dog should be cooked and on a bun that isn't moldy and dry. The works means more than just a hot dog on a bun. Then there are the battered mushrooms. Very very small and very very greasy. We had received 11 tiny mushrooms for 6.50. In years past, this was a great place at which to eat and hang out. Now, it seems to be an excuse to have a business and try to make as much money as possible on bad food, bad service, and bad work ethics. We weren't impressed. We have many friends who live, and visit Winnipeg Beach, Matlock, and Gimli. We won't be recommending this place to any of them. We will definitely not be back either.

I normally find a fountain to fill up my water bottle, or buy an iced tea or diet pop drink. Things changed when I saw Green Carrot. It had smoothies, fresh juices, salads, sandwiches, and more. A cold-pressed juice sounded fun. I had never had one. I tend to make smoothies at home with a celery base. There were two cold-pressed juices here that had celery in it. I opted for the E3 green, which did not have ginger in it. I find that ginger wants to take over whatever dish or drink it's in. Just go away! The E3 green had E3 live (blue-green algae), cucumber, celery, spinach, carrot, and lemon. I liked everything in it. There was a woman in front of me getting a sandwich toasted up. Once she got her food, it was my turn to pay for my juice. The woman behind the counter was friendly and great. She rang up my juice. It wasn't cheap. It was four cents shy of $9. Yikes! That was the price to drink fresh cold-pressed juice. That's okay. It was my first time. I paid with a credit card. Done! While waiting to board my plane, I had some. It was yummy. I could taste the celery, cucumber, carrot, and lemon the most. It's likely because I put all those items in my green smoothie. I barely tasted spinach or the E3 live. Perhaps that's all good. It was a small bottle. I feel like I was savouring each sip to stretch out my $9 juice... haha! The E3 green hit the spot. I should be able to save up for another one when I'm back in Winnipeg.
