Beware... The only reason all the reviews are positive is that if you post a negative review she calls and asks you to remove it. She was pushy with products, after a few visits I felt obligated to buy some. They absolutely did not work for me (i actually broke out in a rash), after some online research I found the line of products she sells are not hypoallergenic, they contain known irritants and have so-so to poor ratings. A lot of people have the same reaction I did. I called to ask if I could return them. I was told no! Upon a negative yelp review I got another call telling me I could return the products if I removed the review. Shadyyyy! Not to mention shes just generally rude and blunt. Fantastic brazilian, because it's honestly a lot less painful than my usual (at silk on franklin). While I question the liberal use of the word organic on everything, the fact that it's a hard wax is probably what makes it better. Svetlana will be all up in your business like it's nobody's business, but hey, she's thorough. The only complaint I had is that the whole time she kept trying to sell me her products. Literally every time she set the wax to dry, she'd walk over to her shelf and walk back with a new product to try and sell me. As usual, I wish I could give 3.5 stars... but I just can't quite spring for 4. I recently moved to San Francisco and obviously have to start re-building my list of go-to places for Brazilian waxes. I am kind of a deal whore, so I purchased a discounted wax through Trubates. The salon itself was nice and clean and felt professional. Svetlana used hard wax for the majority of the Brazilian, which is nice because it hurts less. She finished up with regular wax to get all of the shorter hairs, which I am totally fine with. Overall, I felt like it was a very thorough wax; however when I got home I noticed she missed a pretty big patch, which drives me CRAZY. I realize that I probably need to examine the area more thoroughly while I'm still on the table... but come on! Anyway, I will give her the benefit of the doubt and chalk it up to an honest mistake. Svetlana said she would email me if she was ever offering any specials and I would definitely go back if she does. She is a seasoned professional as she's been doing facials for 2 or 3 DECADES. I have oily acne-prone skin that is hard to manage. My boyfriend treated me to a surprise deluxe facial for my birthday on Wednesday. I had been talking about getting a facial for like the last year, so he really does listen! He found Green Apple on yelp and saw all the stellar reviews, so he called Svetlana to book the appointment (first-time clients also get a 15% discount). Anyway, Svetlana was awesome. Her space is small but very clean. She made sure I was comfortable and then we talked about my skincare goals. She explains the products as she is applying them to your face and tells you how they work. Since I hadn't had a facial in a few years, she had to do a lot of extractions but it wasn't too painful. Then she played some relaxing music and gave me the most wonderful face, shoulder and neck massage. At that point, I was catatonic and she left the room for a few minutes. Just as I was about to fall asleep, she came back in and I figured that was the end but no! She had me sit up and gave me a brief upper back and shoulder massage! Wonderful! Svetlana wasn't pushy about purchasing her skincare products but she did explain that they are much better for your skin than what you'd buy from the drugstore, although more pricey of course. Having found Svetlana almost a year ago I understood this was gonna change my attitude and care for the problematic skin. Looking at myself today I can see the result and it is revolutional! On my first visit I was told that I have severe acne-prone skin type. I've gone through many deep cleansing facials with Svetlana. After 8 or 9 of them, Svetlana recommended me derm renewal chemical peel from GM Collin that consists of 6 sessions(!!!the 6th is free btw!!!) which helped to remove scars and pigmentation. Now my skin looks much smoother, shinier and has no spots and damages left from endless extractions! If you have a problem like me don't think you can get it done with a couple of facials only. I am definitely a permanent client! I've been going to this place for about a year now and this is my first review of this spa. I've been happy with the services since my first encounter at this spa. I booked my first brazilian ever at this spa and to my surprise it was not as bad as I thought (awful videos on youtube). She uses super high end wax that is for sensitive skin and formulates her own oil to minimize the redness. After a few visits, I added on more was services and I am now a regular monthly customer. I like that she is not pushy at all! She is very thoughtful and super customer service friendly! She is accommodating when emergencies come up and I need to switch my appointments. She's usually always booked a week out, but she always makes an extra effort to fit me in. I started using her skin care products (which is the same price as my department store brand skin care) and it gives me AMAZING results! I have completely switched over and I love that she knows my skin type so that when I book a facial (which is a yearly thing for me), she knows exactly what to do. I found out about Green Apple Skin Care through yelp and because of all the good reviews I decided to give it a try.Unfortunately, my experience wasn't that pleasant. At first, when I met Lana she looked like a charming woman and experienced professional who knew what she was doing. The salon looked neat and clean; Lana was also very attentive: when I was taking my clothes off for the waxing she asked me whether I was comfortable and if I needed any extra napkins.She also used hard wax that made the procedure less painful. Everything went well until the next day when I saw that there were bikini areas where the hair didn't get removed properly. I have developed severe irritation after the procedure even though Lana assured me that the oil she used would leave the skin smooth and reduce discomfort. I've been doing Brazilian waxing for a while and it is my first time when I got so many ingrown hairs. I'm not sure whether it was Lana's poor language knowledge that resulted in our miscommunication or she is just not experienced enough in waxing. Lastly, most of the time that I was at her salon she was trying to sell me her facial services even though I told her that I have my own esthetician whom I've been going to for years; she even attempted to sell me her products which I clearly wasn't interested at. The first time I went to see Svetlana it was totally last minute but she was able to fit me in somehow. My boyfriend was helping me in a rush and found her website online and showed it to me. I called and she squeezed me in the next day. Which gives her already a two thumbs up for being flexible. The first time I went to Svetlana it was for a brazillian. She makes you feel completely comfortable and eased into it. It can be an awkward experience, but it is never awkward with Svetlana. She talks to you about the procedures she is doing, what tools or wax she is using, and how to take care of everything after the procedure. She uses a hard blue wax which is much less painful. She makes sure she does a thorough job. She did an amazing job the first time! She is the best you will find. I also got my eyebrows and upper lip done by her. I have never gotten either waxed before, but it was virtually painless and she again does a thorough job and makes sure that you are pleased and asks for your input. Svetlana has turned me into a regular. In the past 5 years, I have not gone to the same person twice. I have had brazilians all over california, from LA to Santa Barbara to SF. I have an old friend L. who had a problem since she moved to the US, the climate did not agree with her, and she developed BAD acne. She moved from Florida to California, but BAD acne did not go away. So after not seeing L. for several months, I opened the door, and there was L. acne free!!! I called Svetlana the next day to see if she could help me with my problem skin. She did, over 4 months before my wedding my skin had gotten much better. Now 3 years later I wouldn't let anyone else touch my face. Svetlana does wonders with my skin. I initially saw Svetlana for my first manzilian wax. Since this was my first wax of any kind I was understandably a bit apprehensive, particularly as I was starting off with a manzilian. Well, as it turned out everything went great and I was very pleasantly surprised. To begin with, Lana's salon is conveniently located in Downtown San Francisco. It's a nice art deco building with a stunning lobby. I've been to this building many times before for other services, so I could identify with the surroundings. Next, her waiting room is quite nice. It's comfortable and tranquil. There is a small fountain on a table with a relaxing sound of running water. The room where the waxing/facials are done is extremely clean, neat and professional looking. There is room to move about, so it's not a cramped space. Soft, soothing instrumental music plays which really helps one to relax. When Lana greeted me I found her to be very pleasant. She's professional, well mannered and friendly. She did not appear hurried or rushed and she provided me with plenty of time catch my breath, undress and prepare for the procedure.One of the best things she did was discuss each step of the process with me so there was no ambiguity on my part. Any questions or concerns I had, she gladly took the time to answer them. At various times during the waxing she asked me if I was comfortable and if everything was ok. Lana really cares about the welfare of her clients. Additionally, an excellent quality wax from France is used to do the brazilians. It's designed for sensitive skin, so that irritation is kept to a minimum. It's really a good product because it helped keep the waxing virtually free of pain. When the procedure was over, Lana asked me to look over all the areas that had been waxed to see if there were any stray hairs that remained. Again, no rush. She was willing to stay as long as necessary to get every remaining hair I could detect. My satisfaction appeared to be her top priority. After this, she massaged the area with soothing essential oils to alleviate any irritation. Thus, I wholeheartedly recommend Green Apple Skin Care Salon for all your waxing needs.
