I don't have enough good things to say about this place! I came here to have my wedding dress tailored since it was close to my house which made it very convenient for me. Despite the price that they charged they did an immaculate job! My dress was very delicate with lots of beading and lace which made me nervous to take it somewhere else. Daniella helped me from the very beginning and made me feel very comfortable with the entire progress. The tailoring was quick and I had my dress on the expected date that they told me. Everyone that I encountered there was very friendly and welcoming. Don't think twice about taking it somewhere else if you're looking for quality work!! I promise you won't be disappointed. Bride beware. Extremely disappointed in service, attitude, and alterations. Front office staff was incredibly snooty, and alterations left the bride with buttons that were off center, red dots where the buttons were supposed to have been sewed on, loose threads all over the hem of the dress, and the worst part, the bustle strings were sewn into the dress rather than the hem leaving marks on the outside of the dress only for the bustle string to tear off 15 minutes in to the reception! After paying an obscene amount of money for alterations, bride was left to bustle her dress with a hair tie. Oh, and they couldn't even be bothered to steam the dress and put it in a bag large enough for the dress for transport. The dress was stuffed into a regular sized garment bag. Find another seamstress!!! read more

I'm wary of the wedding industrial complex and so wanted to be sure to shop around for tailors. Green and Blue was the worst of the many I tried. They were the only one who emailed me a quote ($450) beforehand (most said they'd need to see it in person), but when I showed up after being pinned, they said it would cost $850. When I showed her the email, she said it was because I had said I needed it taken in and a bustle added, but not that it needed to be hemmed -- don't most dresses need to be hemmed? She also said that their tailoring starts at $500 -- so... why did she email me $450? She was also quite abrupt with me in this interaction (after having yelled at the woman who had kindly pinned me) with no apologies for the misleading email that wasted my time. I went to Cheryl Lofton and am saving several hundred dollars for better service with tailors I trust. If you want to spend $850, go to Nazemi Bridal -- everything about that tailor was more impressive and professional than Green and Blue. If you're on a really tight budget, you'll have to look outside DC to Bethesda etc, which wasn't really feasible for me without a car. read more

After reading the rave reviews, I had brought my wedding gown here to add a bustle and take in some extra fabric on the sides. I had an invisible back on my galia lahav gown and they took it in, but caused the invisible portion to become visible due to wrinkling at the bottom. Said they could do nothing about that so i said just return it to the original form. My issue is if they could not do the work in a satisfactory fashion then tell the customer in the beginning instead of wasting my time and money. They still charged me the same amount that was initially quoted. Speaking with the owner was also extremely unhelpful. Instead of just acknowledging the work was unsatisfactory she kept making excuses for them. It was a very frustrating process and I felt like she was not listening at all. After a lot of back and forth, I finally got my dress back as it was with an added bustle. However, I took the dress home and never opened it again until the day of the wedding. Upon opening the bag at my wedding, we saw that all the little beads had threads that were becoming undone which my bridal party had to re-knot. Basically pushed back my wedding by an hour. Needless to say, I would not recommend taking an intricate gown here. As a matter of fact, stick with the people your designer recommends. I purchased my gown out of state and so did not have a local tailor that was on their recommended list. Should have traveled back just to have it tailored. read more

Green and Blue Studio did a wonderful job with my dress which had to be taken in quite substantially. Although it did take four visits to get the dress fitted properly, these were all included, as the studio was committed to getting the fit right. Also, the fittings were planned early to give me extra time to allow for all the alterations. The service was consistently friendly, attentive, and helpful. I got married in June 2017 and they tailored my wedding dress. Green and Blue Studio's location is a little strange (in an office building, so you have to call their phone and wait for an employee to come downstairs to get up to the studio), but that's really the only negative I experienced with them. The customer service is friendly, and they know what they're doing. They listened to me (though admittedly I didn't say much. I largely felt I should let the experts do what they do.) and the dress fit perfectly with an impeccably done hem. They were helpful with teaching my mom and bridesmaid how to do the bustle and the dress was comfortable. Very happy with their work. read more

After reading the reviews, I was excited to see their offerings even though I was warned that prices were high. I'm sad to say that I found very little that I really liked, or that was even aesthetically pleasing in some way. Something about the colors being offered that was a little off to me. I do really like that the owner offers tailoring and will custom make garments for you. I love small boutiques like this! Now I know where to take things to be tailored if I need it when in DC. The jewelry is really pretty and worth a good look. If you are in the area, do stop by. Even if you don't buy anything, show your support! read more

3.5 stars I struggle with this review because the end result was fine but there were some issues during my service which didn't make the experience amazing. My original dress was purchased from a boutique that went bankrupt in Old Town, Alexandria, leaving me dress-less 10 weeks away from my wedding. I was lucky enough to find the same dress in a sample size, however, the dress was too big and needed work. At my initial consultation and fitting, I worked with the owner who listened to my concerns and wishes for the new dress. Because the dress was a sample, the zipper wasn't in great shape and I asked if they could remove the zipper and replace it with a corset back. I do not believe this is a request they get often because they seemed unsure about it and ended up charging me almost double for the work. I ended up paying about $700 for alterations on the dress which to me is crazy, but given my circumstance I was willing to pay to get it done asap. Looking back on it I wish I would have gotten another opinion. The original boutique would have done all the alterations, including changing out the zipper for about $300. Sadly they took my money and never ordered my dress, but that's another Yelp review. When scheduling my second fitting they asked for six weeks because of the amount of work it would take build a corset. I agreed, believing when I walked back in the dress would be mostly done and ready to go. Unfortunately during my second visit I met with what must have been a new staff member, because she had no idea what was being done with my dress and she fumbled through the fitting. When I put the dress on no real work had been completed. The only thing they had done in six weeks was put in temporary stitching on the bottom and temporarily sewed the back of the dress into the shape it would need to be cut into for the corset. Essentially they sat on my dress for six weeks. They claim they wanted to make sure I was 100% certain about the corset before cutting the dress (which I had confirmed multiple times during the initial visit). I can appreciate their caution, however, I would have been more than happy to come in earlier for a second fitting if this is really what they were waiting on. After the second fitting they wanted to schedule a fitting a month in advance, putting my dress completion just days before my wedding. As the dress was a sample, I needed to have it cleaned before the ceremony and the dry cleaner requested a week. I just didn't have that amount of time. Thankfully they were able to get the work done in a shorter amount of time but I could tell this was a strain on their schedule. I felt like they missed small details. I asked multiple times for buttons to be removed and a few beads to be replaced but they were more focused on the big picture and it wasn't until the very end these details got attention. I did notice after leaving there are still beads that should have been replaced that were not attended to. I am also disappointed that the corset string they gave me was just looping string and not a nice matching satin one. I will have to find something better before my wedding. Overall I picked this location because of the great reviews and the proximity to my office. Do not get my wrong they did a great job on my dress but it was a bit of a process to get there. I was also extremely expensive. Looking back I should have probably gotten a second opinion, however, given the struggle I've already had with my dress this made the most sense at the time. read more

Green and Blue has a really small but good location next to Propper Topper in Dupont Circle. They have a nice selection of clothes I could wear to work, and also some more casual pieces. The boutique has a lot of fancy brands like Cynthia Steffe and Rebbeca Taylor. They also have quite a bit of nice jewelry on display. The owner of this boutique has her own label and will custom make items for customers, if you happen to have that kind of dough. It's definitely worth checking out if you are a fan of places like Sugar in Georgetown. Green and Blue has a more of a "European" feel, whatever that means. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Green and Blue will have a sale sign in its window soon. read more

5-star service. They completely customized my wedding dress last summer and were incredibly accommodating, hosting me for as many fittings as it took until the dress was perfect. They took a very simple Nicole Miller strapless dress and took out the back, adding straps I found on Etsy and buttons down the train. They also took it in a great deal, and made it fit me like a glove. Daniela and team were very open to my ideas and vision and made my dream dress a reality to an extent I never thought possible. I found out about her through my dressmaker who is based in LA and Daniela is their go-to seamstress in the D.C. area...I mean how can you beat that reccomendation!?! Green and Blue is rather conveniently located, being roughly two seconds from the South exit of the Dupont Circle metro, and features a nice collection of dresses and blouses from such brands as Rebecca Taylor, Shoshanna, and Cynthia Steffe. For a town like DC, it's a cute little piece of New York style. Nothing too stodgy here, although everything is very classic and quite chic. However, there's just nothing to get excited about. The lone salesgirl was really fun and friendly but admitted that she buys this stuff online (as do I). The apparel is the same stuff I can get from Nordstroms, Saks, and Bloomingdales. There's no price advantage, especially since hardly anything seemed to be on sale. Also, none of the brands are local or otherwise unusual. In a nutshell, the place is....nice. Love this place. I took my wedding dress here to have a button added on, since I was nervous the clasp wouldn't hold. They booked me very last minute, and took the time to check the seems and the clasp. Daniela assured me the dress would hold, that the button was unnecessary, and simply reinforced the stitching on the clasp for me. When I tried to pay, she refused citing that it was a simple thing, and warmly wished me the best. In an industry (wedding industry) where you feel like everyone is trying to get more money out of you, it was refreshing and uplifting to meet a team who genuinely want to do a good job, and help you out. I took my wedding dress into the studio in mid-June thinking I only needed the length hemmed. That's when I was introduced to what a properly fitting dress should really look like and left loving my dress even more than when I first bought it. I couldn't wait for it to be finished (which btw - give yourself plenty of time, ladies - this studio is busy for a reason). I went back a few times for fittings and picked up my dress in August a few days before my wedding. Actually, I asked them to hold it until the weekend and when I went to pick it up, they kindly brought it down to my car, holding an umbrella over it the entire time to protect it from the rain. Like other reviewers said, everyone here is super friendly, very accommodating, and as sweet as can be. I could tell they really wanted to me to look my best. I had my rehearsal dinner dress altered here too which turned out flawless as well. In short, Daniela and Michaela are top notch professionals with unmatched skill. I really can't say enough about how well-fitted my dress was. I loved wearing it all day for the wedding and was super sad to take it off at the end of the day. Anyway, looking back on everything, I know that choosing this studio for alterations was hands down the best choice I made throughout the entire wedding planning process. I came here based on Yelp reviews to get my wedding dress altered. A little dicey to go in blind, but after having a not so great experience when I bought my dress, I wanted to go elsewhere for alterations. I have also been to a couple of places in DC and had some "meh" work as well as just bad. Daniela at Green and Blue was so sweet, got right back to me when I called, and consequently was on top of keeping in touch with me throughout. I brought my dress to her for a number of fixes, and also sent my fiance to get a suit tailored (again, going in blind....). Just got everything back and couldnt have been more pleased! My alterations were perfect, and she took the time to walk through each thing that had been done. My fiance was also thrilled with his suit, and he's a pretty picky guy. Prices were totally reasonable, turnaround time was great, etc. They also have a really cute boutique where they sell small label designers as well as their own designed and crafted womens clothes and jewelry. Went to Green and Blue Studio for my wedding dress alterations. They were absolutely fantastic! Obviously experienced and knowledgable and put in the time and effort to make sure that your dress fits exactly the way that you want it. My fittings (2+ final fitting) were spaced out over ~2 months but I have heard of them doing alterations much faster. I was very, very impressed with their work. They were a pleasure to work with, I was horribly late to my first appointment because of weekend Metro work and they were very accommodating. The only reason for four stars instead of five is the price. Even though the work is great, I think you could find similar work for a lower price elsewhere. For train removal, taking in the waist, letting out the bust, and shortening the gown it cost ~$450. read more

I've found some cute dresses, one of my favorite skirt suits, etc... by well known, trendy designers, but mostly I love the unique jewelry and accessories like woven scarves and knitted hand bags. I'm working with one of the owners on redesigning a family antique wedding gown and it's coming along perfectly. Ela Ela Couture can handle working with old garments that need updating as well as designing from scratch. They are lovely to work with, will sketch for you before starting the piece and work within reasonable budgets. Had SUCH a good experience with Green and Blue Studio. They were recommended by the shop I bought my dress from and I'm really glad I went with them, although maybe a little bit pricier than some other places, worth every penny. My dress didn't need too many alterations because it was ordered to fit, but the Green and Blue team did so many little requests for me- they added a button from my grandmother's wedding dress to the back of mine, changed the bustle the second time I went when I changed my mind from French to American style, altered my tassel arm bands to fit perfectly and rather than adding padding to the bust where I didn't want it, they listened to me and took the boning out of the chest area right then and there so I could be sure that's what I wanted. I had an initial appointment in February 2014 and two additional fittings over the next few months (my wedding was in June, so I left plenty of time in case). They made the necessary alterations to bustle my dress and also tailored the bust area of my dress, which had boning. The price was on the high side of what I expected (there is a minimum charge on wedding dress alterations), but the convenience and quality was worth it. On the surface it appeared my alterations were done very well and in a timely manner. They put boning into my dress and created a gorgeous French and American bustle that I loved! The main seamstress let me take a video of her and explained how to bustle the dress and everything which I greatly appreciated. Up to this point I was extremely pleased. However, I had a belt sewed on and it took one of their girls four times for them to sew it on correctly. Then unfortunately as beautiful as my bustle was it broke about five minutes into having it bustled and so all night my train was being stepped on and dragged and now the bottom of my dress is completely ruined :( For 950 dollars in alterations you can imagine I would have expected more. Daniela and her team did an excellent job on my wedding dress. I bought a simple silk dress from J Crew and needed some standard alterations - hemming, taking in the sides and bringing up the shoulders - but the v-neck was still a little low cut for my taste. Daniela and her seamstress had the brilliant idea to add some lace along the neckline to add a little "modesty." So I found some beautiful french lace and brought it back - some for the neckline and also enough to make a sash custom cut and hemmed to my dress. I was happy when I received a call from Daniela a couple of weeks later asking me to come in and try it on with the lace just basted, before they sewed it on fully. Smart. We made a few adjustments and they went back to work on it. When I picked it up today, Daniela noticed a few details that could be improved with the lace so she asked me to stay 10 minutes so she could fix them, which she did. I wouldn't say the work was complex, but there were a million little things that, if they weren't done properly, I would have asked her to do over or fix. Luckily I had no such problems. This is what I like about Green and Blue: 1) Creativity - helped me solve a problem with a beautiful result that simply looked like a gorgeous dress design 2) Attention to detail - I'm pretty persnickety and Daniela is too - yay! 3) Service - Daniela made me feel like she cared how my dress came out as much as a family member or friend would - she made adjustments until she was satisfied I'll be back with other tailoring and alterations needs. read more

Needed a Floravere dress slightly altered--just cups sewn in and the straps shortened. Green and Blue did this beautifully for $150. All the staff wore masks and face shields and I was the only client in the studio each time I visited. On my final fitting, they made small tweaks to make sure I got the perfect fit. read more

With all the craziness of planning a wedding throughout COVID, they were flexible at every turn and really made me feel special.
