Our kids love the games and laser tag. We have concurred ALL of the current escape rooms in the Midland and Odessa options. And we love the skywalk options! With regards to Midland in particular, tonight we encountered a young man named James in the prize room of the arcade. Are you listening Cinergy? This guy NEEDS to be your Supervisor as of at least YESTERDAY!!!! One of our favorite ways to rack up points is the Wizard of Oz coin drop game. We are very familiar with how to redeem the coins/cards and add them to our family central points card. However, many members of the Midland team have been simply (I hate to say it but I have to be honest) too lazy to read the simple instructions of sliding the player card, inserting won coins/cards, and then sliding the player card once more to transfer the points to it. Instead, even your higher level supervisors were missing the initial sliding of the player's individual card and claiming that the machine to do it yourself was just "constantly broken." But James instead showed how this step was missed regularly so we could do it ourselves instead of everyone counting on the ONE guy in the prize room to do EVERYTHING for them, causing a massive backlog with frustrated customers! And he did it with a giant smile and award-level customer service! Take it from someone who has been the founder of several companies: THIS is the guy you want to promote from within and hold onto!!!

And when I sent text messages with questions on where to find things because I'm always lost when something is right in front of my face, Sonia was always the NICEST person on the planet!!! Plus, if you opt to do your own clean (which just includes cleaning up after yourself plus sweeping and tossing the trash) they will refund $50 of your money! That's a great deal!

Nonetheless, there was plenty of available seating on a Wednesday night (6/2). Parking was easy and free. Tickets were $16 to sit right behind home plate (you do not need to buy tickets ahead of time online if you're going to a weekday game, as there were barely a couple hundred people to fill the stands). At first, we were told that based on the section we bought tickets in, that we could get free popcorn, peanuts, and soft drinks. This was not the case. The free goodies were in fact for groups that had wristbands and were part of employers or families that had bought picnic packages. There were plenty of other options anyways that were reasonable - BBQ sandwiches, hot dogs, corn dogs, nachos. I had gotten the big Bushbaby Bush's chicken sandwich for $5.50. I wish I had kind of waited and made a decision after I had walked around to all the food stops, as I'm not kicking myself that I didn't get a chance to try the famous peanut butter jelly bacon hot dog. Wanting to venture out and see what else was out there I went to the Midland parks and recreation website and found a list of playgrounds in the area. We decided to go to Grafa Park today and WOW! It. Is. AWESOME!! The playground is HUUUUUUGE! There is so much to do on it: climb, slide, explore! It's super tall too (which, with a 18mo, I had to get up there with him because the openings for the ladders make me SUPER nervous.) But, hey, it was so much fun for me too!!! The slides are GREAT! There is also a huge walking track around the reservoir(???) I think that's what it is. My kids (and I) LOVED it! We brought a sub sandwich, chips and our drinks and had a picnic at one of the many picnic tables here. There are also plenty of benches and shade trees too! So glad we found this park! We can't wait to come back!!!!

And best of all, lots of SHADY TREES! We've found an evening walk here to be a nice way to wind down the day. It's very relaxing as there's often a cool breeze funneling under the trees and a high gate between the park and the road to protect from all the cars. Nestled enough within a neighborhood that it isn't dusty (locals know what I'm saying!) and full of people playing with their dogs and families until sun down, so it feels very safe. About the dogs - they've always been good boys and girls and we have had no problems at all with them. However, we have found a lot are actually off leash when they play so just an FYI, if it's not your thing.
