Mike Medhurst, a local firefighter and his family are the people behind the "Greeley Grizwalds"…read morelight display. They have done a big light display every year from 1999 to present. Their house is decorated for Christmas and is ready for viewing the day after Thanksgiving through New Year's Day and the lights are turned on nightly from 5:30pm to 9:30pm Sunday through Thursday and 5:30pm to 10:00pm Fridays and Saturdays. The display is computer controlled with the lights synchronized to music every 30 minutes. The music is broadcast over a low radio transmitter. You can listen to the broadcast on your car radio on 90.3 FM while you check out the lights. I read that this year (2018) the display has over 180,000 lights. The display is amazing and is a lot of fun to visit. It's a family tradition for our family to go see the display every year.

Looks like they have vegetarian and vegan options. The game selection is top notch! They have many pinball machines, skeeball, cabinet games, air hockey, and table games. I also spotted a big Jenga on the way out. This would be a great place to bring a big group or just a date. I saw a sign saying they rent the space out for parties as well. Please note that that the change machine gives Stella tokens as opposed to quarters. This spot serves cocktails and spiked Icees (yum!) along with hard seltzer and beer. Educational, fun, interactive and eye-opening! I learned so much about Greeley's history- from…read moregoing into historic houses, getting informative tours, playing old games, and seeing animals. This village is huge and definitely can spend a whole day here. My friend and I randomly stumbled upon Centennial Village during the Greeley Stampede- the entrance fee was free! Normally they charge, so maybe it's a special promotion during the Stampede. You should definitely go in if you are here this week for the event. Family friendly environment with fresh air and many things to look at. Volunteers are friendly and welcoming. Some of my favorites were going to the gun shop and seeing historic guns, going into different houses and seeing the gadgets and tools people used back then, and learning about the important people of Greeley. By the way, the village is 8 acres- Be ready to walk a lot!

We stopped in on a cold Saturday afternoon an hour and a half before close, but the lady at the desk had already checked out, at least mentally. We obviously interrupted her work on the computer to pay for our admission, which was reasonably priced BTW. No 'have you visited before?' 'These are our exhibits.' 'Here's a map, it's self-guided.' Was this place a bank? Who knows? Is there a sign that tells me? Maybe, if I can find it? This place is small, but very clean. From what I can tell, there are 3 exhibits: Greeley general history, Nordic (connection to Greeley?), and a small exhibit on immigration. There's also a few items downstairs-if there's more, I'll never know. Would've been nice to have a little extra guidance upon our entering, but c'est la vie. Will we be back? Probably not. As much as I like to support museums, this one is lacking. Visit Centennial Village if you're looking for more history of the area.
