    Eton Mess ice cream
    Kelli T.

Super friendly couple greeted us and offered us samples. Located inside Borough Market, near the public restrooms; worth finding your way through the crowds. My Eton Mess dip was so delicious and the waffle cone was fresh and crispy! Plenty of areas to sit or stand to enjoy your tasty treat.

Yes, yes, yes! Do NOT let the 'goat' scare you off! Delicious! The Rhubarb and Vanilla is the very essence of what quality English ice cream should taste like.

Goat milk ice cream? You've goat to be kidding me. (Sorry, I'll see myself out...) One of my favorite things about Europe is the predominance of goat cheese. While I wouldn't touch goat milk on its own with a ten-foot pole and only find goat cheese tolerable in moderation, I think there's something to be said for the idyllic image of happy, healthy goats gallivanting around the countryside. It also helps that you can't even taste the goat milk in this ice cream. It's a little creamier than your run-of-the-mill ice cream, but nothing about the actual ice cream flavor is overpowering. I'm used to steep prices for single scoops of trendy, hyped-up ice cream back home in San Francisco, but £3 is a steal for ice cream that actually sets itself apart from its competitors by being goat milk ice cream that's low in lactose and fat. I had a scoop of the chocolate hazelnut, but don't be afraid to ask for samples if you're indecisive. (I've got my eye on the gin & tonic flavor for my next visit.)

Cute ice cream stand in Borough Market! Tried the salted caramel ice cream, it was so rich and creamy. Very delicious! Love the concept, could really taste the goat cheese and it wasn't overwhelming or too cheesy. Great option if you're looking to try an unconventional dessert. They even gave a wafer with the ice cream scoop.

At first, I wasn't sure about goat milk ice cream, but food adventure calls. Greedy Goat is located at one of the stalls in Borough Market just under the London Bridge. In addition to the cute booth (pastel color schemes and an adorable goat mascot), the ice cream was definitely living up the hype. The ice cream was very creamy and texture was smooth. You know the kind of ice cream that is so sweet, it feels like there is a film of sugar after you eat it? Well this was not it. It was the perfect amount of sweetness and richness of favor. Whether you order a cone or a cup, you get a piece of waffle - light and slightly sweet, a perfect compliment to the decadence that is goat's milk ice cream. Now if only Greedy Goat was available in the States. La sigh.

The Greedy Goat is probably open now 4 months, I can only imagine it's gathering a cult following. Seriously their ice cream is Baaaaaahnanas. (I couldn't help myself) Back in NYC, my hometown, we're not accustomed to seeing goats milk ice cream. It's cow milk or no milk, when it comes to ice cream. (Apparently London's experimenting with the human variety.....eh) We have unknowingly discriminated against a healthy, very delicious alternative. Who knew? If ever a better place to delve into the realm of goat milk ice cream, Greedy Goat's the spot. Using British goats milk, Greedy Goat has created fascinating flavors from the basic varieties like chocolate, rum raisin and strawberry, to more experimental flavors. Even the most basic of flavors were excellent. It all seems to come down to their ingredients and mastery of the recipes. The owners appear to really be enjoying this business, which always makes for a pleasant experience. Open to feedback and more than willing to give the full scoop (pun happily intended) on goats milk and all of its suitable qualities. The waffle cones were excellent! On a warm day in London on holiday, walking about Borough Market, Greedy Goat was the perfect choice. And their motto says it all, "More goat, less guilt!" You have to try this place before the craze sets in.

I love goat cheese, so I couldn't resist trying goat ice cream when I saw this!! It was so creamy and delicious! It's definitely got a unique flavor compared to regular ice cream, but I really enjoyed it and would love to come back and try more flavors!

Simply stunning ice cream and the charcoal cone just adds a little sumthin' sumthin' to its charm and rusticness!

Today, I went by the market with the intention of having my fill of some delicious scrumptious ice cream, this ice cream was not made from milk that came from a 'cow' but from a smaller animal, that would give you tender meat to eat, Jamaicans like to curry it and make a dish called 'Curried Goat'. To my delight this did not have any meat. It had cold sweet soft attributes to it. It gave my palate the chance to remember childhood days of eating ice cream. So I had Rum and Raison, salted caramel and ginger bread man.

We enjoyed walking around and seeing a wide variety of food options! The whole market area was clean and organized when we got there at 9am. No lines yet. Long lines did start forming around 9:45am when the hot foods were ready but moved pretty quickly. We tried: * The Ginger Pig - Traditional Sausage Roll * Wild Mushroom Risotto - Spelt Risotto with Truffle Shavings * Turnips Greengrocer - Chocolate Covered Strawberries * The Black Pig - The Best One With Crackling * Turkish Deli - Turkish Delight & Turkish Coffee * Bread Ahead - Crème Brûlée Donut

With so many tempting options, it's honestly hard to decide what to eat. One thing I really appreciated was that many vendors offered samples, so you could try before you buy. During our visit, we sampled the famous chocolate covered strawberries, paella, and wild mushroom risotto. I also bought the Black Pig Honey Truffle Parm sandwich. The chocolate covered strawberries were exactly what you'd expect, fresh strawberries coated in chocolate. If you enjoy that classic combination, you'll probably love them, but they weren't anything particularly special to me. The paella had great flavor, but the rice was a little undercooked for my taste, so I wasn't a fan of the texture. The wild mushroom risotto was the standout. It was rich, creamy, packed with earthy mushroom flavor, and had an excellent texture. It was easily one of my favorite bites of the day. I also tried the Black Pig Honey Truffle Parm sandwich. The bread was fantastic, crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside, and the fennel apple slaw added a refreshing crunch. Unfortunately, the pulled pork was very dry. I think it would have been much better if the pork had been kept warm in its own juices instead of continuing to cook on the griddle. That would have kept it moist and tender. As it was... the pulled pork was dry as hell. :) One thing every vendor had in common was friendly and welcoming customer service. Despite how busy and crowded the market gets, the atmosphere is lively, energetic, and full of people enjoying great food. It's definitely a must-visit for anyone who loves trying a variety of foods in one place.
