This service does a fine job. I am so sick of reading reviews from foolish people crying out for Uber. Uber, Lyft, etc. Are nothing Morr or less than gypsy cabs stealing from legitimate taxi drivers! I will continue to use this company, regardless of cost, every time I visit Bozeman. read more

I had called this company to get a taxi for an elderly woman who came into my place of business. He said he was with a client and that he would call back in 20 minutes. After 40 minutes I called 3 times and on the third call the man answered, said he wasn't coming and said goodbye. Unprofessional and unhelpful. Would not recommend. read more

Avoid whenever possible. They charged me $41 for a ride to the airport. A group of five people in the same van were charged $60 for the same ride. Uber would be less expensive and more honest. The driver was unpleasant also. read more

I might have been willing to overlook the following: 1. Driver didn't want to pick me up at the airport once he found out that I wanted to go to Livingston even though I had made the reservation a month before. 2. Driver never once helped us with our bags even when we switched cars because the first had a gas leak. 3. Had to wait 20 minutes outside the taxi dispatch center until 2nd car arrived 4. Driver couldn't figure out how to adjust the seat, read the gas gauge or even clip his own seat-belt (which he asked me, the costumer, to do for him from the back seat?). If the above driver hadn't pitched a fit at the end of the 20 min ride ($103 cab fare) because I didn't give him a tip fast enough. This business would never survive in an area that had any competition. If you use them pray you don't get the old man Ernie for a driver. Stay away, pay the extra and use Karst! read more

This outfit would be considered a joke if it wasn't such a criminal operation. Terrible service, crappy van, un-helping and non-communicative driver, call center that doesn't answer the phone numbers, no posted or stated rates... One star because you can't post without giving at least one. Still so #%^@ angry. read more

Horrible company that essentially steals money from your pocket. I rode with a family of 4 and shared a cab from the airport to a hotel downtown. Well they charged me $34 because I "called separate" and the family of 4 was charged $45. Hmm how does this math work when we all took one car? The usual rate for 5 people is $54 but somehow I didn't qualify for this because again I was "separate." They don't seem to care what you think and none of them are educated enough to understand what a rip off this is. Given the chance to walk or take this cab company, I would suggest walking. read more

Lyft driver tried to tell us we would have to wait an hour before he came to pick us up from the airport. A quick call to Greater Valley seemed like (and was) the easier option. Nice, easy drive with a conversational driver that gave us excellent lunch recommendations for the next day. Price was the same as Uber's quotation as well, which was very convenient. read more

If I could leave 0 stars I would. They are the absolute worst. I'd rather walk. $53 from Belgrade to Bozeman. Took alternate routes to keep the meter running. My head hurts read more

Bottom line: Ride a horse, walk, or hitch hike. Take Greater Valley Taxi and you'll be sorry! Here's my horror story: I flew into Bozeman and failed to arrange a cab ahead of time. I called one of the numbers on Greater Valley's website and there was no answer. I called another number listed on their site and again the call was not answered. Both calls appear to have gone to the same voice mail. I walked outside and to my surprise there was a cab at the curb. I talked to the driver, who looked like he just walked out of the woods, and he said he was waiting for some guy named Baxter. If Baxter didn't show up soon he could take me. Great, I went back inside the airport for a few minutes as it was about 20 degrees outside. While inside I struck up conversation with someone else who was apparently also hoping that Baxter wouldn't appear. Hmmm, nice of the driver to inform me that he had already promised my potential ride to someone else. My new acquaintance, Joe, and I quickly decided that Baxter wasn't going to make it. We'll split the cab and everything will be great. We went outside and the driver agreed to take both of us into town. WE loaded our bags into the trunk and the driver seemed irritated that my snowboard was encroaching onto his arm rest. My bad, guess I shouldn't have brought it to Montana in the middle of winter. The trip into Bozeman was fine. The car was reasonably clean. The driver didn't say much except to point out the majors that MSU offers even though I just mentioned that I went to school there. When we arrived at Joe's destination the driver informed us that the fare was $33. My destination was about a mile away so Joe generously gave me $20 for his share of the fare. When we arrived at my stop a few minutes later the driver informed me that the fare was $69. Yeah, $69. Yep, $33 for Joe and $36 for me. I told him I wasn't going to pay that. The driver told me that was their policy. I told him that he was trying to double charge me and that I wasn't going to be ripped off. I asked how much the total fare would be if we had both gotten out at the first stop. He said it would be $33. "So you're charging me $36 to go another mile?" I asked. He couldn't wrap his mountain man mind around my wild concept. This went back and forth for a few minutes, and I finally told him that I wanted to talk to his manager. Funny thing though, the manager didn't pick up the phone. Guess where the next call went! 911. That's right, this dire emergency required swift action from the Bozeman PD. The cops showed up in about 5 minutes and we each told our story to the officers. Greater Valley's rates are not posted anywhere in or on the cab and the driver admitted that he didn't explain their policies to us when we entered the cab. Clearly I'm in the right but the cops put a lot of effort into trying to come up some sort of mutually beneficial agreement. After 40 minutes of standing out in the 20 degree weather in a sweatshirt I got into the back of the cop car and the cops finally made contact with the owner. The cops explained to the owner how their policy isn't fair and he agreed to the $36 fare. Great! I win! Suck it!...Not so fast! The driver wasn't about to let me go without tacking on a $5 additional passenger fee. I resisted as this wasn't explained anywhere either. The cops, as well as myself, had tired of the whole ordeal and I just paid it. Come to find out, from a employee's review on Yelp, that their additional passenger fee is $3.50. I'm pretty sure you can't write a review for the place you work at but it's nice to know that in spite of almost freezing to death I still got partially ripped off in the end! And now for the best advice of the day: Start your own taxi company in Bozeman. You'll me a millionaire in no time! read more

So I have been forced to use the "Greater Valley Taxi" on multiple occasions and I have been waiting to to write a review on the off chance that, in the words of the old song, "Ooh child, things are going to get easier"--but alas they have not. Bozeman is a city of some 40,000 people, a major tourist destination, and this is by far the worst excuse for a taxi service that I have ever encountered. From beat up, musty, smelly cars to drivers that seem clueless about even the simplest of destinations (hint the airport is the thing with the big planes that fly in and out) every experience that I have had leaves me with a firm belief that any person that would set up a company to compete with these yahoos would be immediately wealthy. Some things, at minimum, that would greatly benefit: 1. Fix your damn online reservation system. Do not brag about being able to book something online if it can't be done. 2. If you are not able to take reservations online, have a competent person manning the phones when someone calls in to make a reservation. Upon reflection, perhaps event sentient would be useful. I am sorry that I interrupted your cigarette, your shots of whiskey, your internet porn, or whatever else you were doing when I called, but please do not make it sound like it was my fault that I asked you to do your job. 3. Clean up the cars. They don't have to be new, they don't have to be fancy, but I should not smell when I get out of them. Moreover, I should not feel unsafe getting in them. 4. Please figure out what every other taxi company has done which is to clearly display your rates in the vehicles. I paid 65$ once for a ride from the airport to Bozeman Deaconess Hospital--that's 1.5 times the going rate from the Portland Oregon airport to downtown. Well honestly. Sadly, I am one of many who is stuck with this service as I only need transport to and from the airport. I just wish they would recognize exactly how lousy their service was. read more

Called a day in advance for an early morning ride to the airport...taxi was nearly an hour late, and despite being told that the driver was "5 minutes" away after he was already 15 minutes late...I continued to wait and call dispatch, who continued to tell me that the driver was, again, only "5 minutes away." After standing outside waiting for nearly an hour, the taxi finally showed up, without any apology. I ended up being 5 minutes too late to check-in to my flight home for a family event and spent the entire day at the airport trying to get on another flight, with no such luck. I missed the event and wasted a day at the airport. I will NEVER be using Greater Valley Taxi again. Terrible service, terrible prices. The Bozeman area deserves better than this. read more

My friends and I go out frequently and never drink and drive so a taxi service is an important part of our night on the town. Unfortunately this is by far the most unprofessional business of which I have ever dealt. They frequently don't show up, or show up very very late. I have been sworn at several times by the dispatcher for no reason except inquiring where my cab was. Once I called to get a cab and the connection was bad so the dispatcher hung up on me after telling me they were the only company in town so they didnt need my business and I could f*** off. The way they treat people is awful. AND we have always been great tippers as we all work in the service industry. read more

Absolutely horrible service! They must not want any money because they are not that nice and are not that concerned about picking people up. I wish I could give zero stars. Visiting from Florida, will make sure to rent a car next time so I won't be stranded. read more

terrible ... all the stories are true. The concept of charging everyone as if they are riding individually is so ridiculous and counter-intuitive it would be comical if it were not so annoying.... so I get to wait longer while we wait for all the other riders in this "shuttle" to get their bags, then we get to ride all around town dropping them off, and then I get to pay for this priviledge .. .no thanks read more

The worst. I avoid Gallatin Valley Taxi if at all possible after a ride to the airport in a rickety van with a massive alignment problem. Thank goodness Uber has come to Bozeman. read more

This company uses it's monopoly in the valley like the Mafia. Today airport shakedown was the last straw with these crooks. We needed to get home from the airport to our home 10 miles away. First there was No meter visible in the vehicle. I asked the fair, he looked a t some dirty chart and informed us it would be around forty dollars. Forty for what you didn't even load our bags in your trunk. We prompt had him stop and let us out. I mentioned uber and he said f@#k you and left. Way to represent our valley. Make other plans if you can. I cannot stress this enough. What a bunch of crooks. read more

Check Classic Limo or any OTHER company instead. I fly out of Bozeman every other week. I relied on Greater Valley Taxi and call them for service ... EVERY OTHER WEEK .. You would think that MAYBE ... just MAYBE they would recognize that when you call in. But to have drivers constantly arrive late with no pre-call, to have the cars in a state of constant disrepair, and to have them reek of cigarette smoke is completely unacceptable. Use any other service or park your car at the airport! Definitely cheaper and you won't have the horrid service that this fly-by-night organization has. And yes, I did try calling dispatch but the "personal mailbox" has not been "set up". How convenient. read more

The Greater Valley Taxi guys are BY FAR the best and most reliable way to get to and from the airport into Bozeman. They gave me a ride into town when my plane was late arriving, and back out at 4:00 am for a return flight. (I had tried to take Uber twice, but an Uber car never showed up, even with an advance reservation, which meant total panic in terms of catching my plane.) AND, the taxi price was only $4.00 more than Uber had quoted me! The drivers are really nice, and both gave me lots of information about things going on in Bozeman. Yes, the van was old, but the reliability and customer service were stellar. One tip - if you are flying out early, reserve a ride a few days ahead of time, because they are busy in the early morning. read more

The worst. Evert single time I use this service they are down right rude from dispatch to the drivers. The drivers demand a tip as well. I thought it was one bad driver but no its almost every time. They defiantly have it made for they are the only taxi in town but, their business is terrible. read more

Sad to say this monopoly charges high prices, their vehicles are not clean and they are often late. Uber works if there are drivers available. Unfortunately, there were no Uber cars available last night at midnight (5/22/17) so went with a new cab company-female driver--she was great! read more

This taxi company is horrible. What's also super frustrating is that there are no other can companies nor has uber been set up here yet. We had our hotel call to have one pick us up for an early flight departure & only the top of the hour & half past were available pick up times. If you share a ride with someone else, each party pays. My friend & I had another passenger the cab driver picked up about 5min after us & we paid $35 to the airport & the other passenger (also going to the airport) paid $29. Really?? That's total robbery. Cab driver was super rude, made us all cram into the back seat, while his bag took over the front seat. Just frustrating. Long day of travel & that's how it began, for us. Hopefully uber takes over in this town. read more

The problem isn't so much the bad service, it's just that there's no competition because the PSC won't allow it. Let Uber in and this will all change in a big hurry. There's no good reason to limit competition in the transportation business, especially in today's world where more and more folks are choosing to go carless. I feel certain that with competition, Great Valley Taxi will turn into a first rate company! read more

Price gauging-should have checked but didn't. Hotel said to estimate $25-30. Was charged $50 plus felt like I needed to give the driver a tip. No wonder people don't use this service. Avoid or get gauged. read more

I've read many bad reviews about GV service. New Years Eve we called for a cab at 5:00 for 5:30 reservation asking to be picked up at 5:15. Our cab showed up exactly as expected and later after dinner we called 30 minutes before to be picked up for ride home. Again exactly on time. Our driver, Mike, was extremely polite and talkative. And a super nice young man. I know cab drivers can be extremely cranky especially on New Years Eve. But in our experience GV is getting an unfair review and Mike made the evening that much more enjoyable. If you call GV ask for Mike. Kitty and John read more

I arranged a ride from Greater Valley Taxi the night before to take us to the airport at 5:00 AM. When they did not show up by 5:15 I called another service. The driver finally showed up at 5:20. My advice: Do not trust this company if you need to be anywhere at a certain time. read more

Unfortunately, I did not catch the drivers name, but the older gentleman driver with the tan cowboy hat was nothing but nice and showed up 15 minutes after I called for the taxi. Very respectful and polite even with a short ride during a holiday weekend. Would definitely recommend to anyone here in the Bozeman area! Thank you! read more

After reading all the terrible reviews, i thought I might be 'up the creek' using this only game in town after my Christmas visit with family. I called the day before my flight to reserve a ride at 4:30 a.m. The driver called my cell at 4:17 to say he was outside the door! Cool! He put my suitcase in the back of his, what, 80's Plymouth Voyager? and we were on our way. Some guy sat in the back seat (is this a shuttle?). We went directly to the airport, no muss no fuss and almost no conversation, except the driver had to ask me the name of the street where he was supposed to turn! I'm not the driver, nor a local, but, yes, 'turn here'! We arrived safe and sound and in plenty of time for my check-in. Driver told me my fare, which I thought was reasonable for time and distance. I added in a tip. So, the car smelled a bit, was old and rattly, no meter, but I guess I didn't care at 4:30 a.m. The heater worked. I hope my 3 stars help balance out all the poor reviews. My Bozeman family tells me other visitors have used them for early morning airport rides and never had any probs or delays. So, maybe they're not as bad as all the poor reviews! That's why I wrote this! read more

I've ridden with them before and they were okay. The drivers were very nice, but the cars and vans were pretty ratty. I was using them the other night, made a reservation a day in advance, my plane was on time, I found my cab (not easy) but the dispatcher wouldn't let him leave. He had to wait for other fares. I called the office and she said "too bad", they were busy and only had two drivers (which proved to be false). I mentioned that it was past midnight and this is a taxi, not a shuttle. She got angry and said I had no choice. Meanwhile, another Greater Valley cab comes by and takes someone from my van, but she still won't lay my car leave. Finally, another GV cab comes by (that makes three, not two) and takes me. On my way back to the airport, I took a limo for twice the money. I'll walk before I take Greater Valley Taxi again. read more

Scam Alert: Students Beware My daughter flew into Bozeman in July. She and another party were picked up from the airport and driven to MSU. They were both charged full fare. Being a former cab driver, I explained to her that this is how it works when you have separate parties. I advised her to gather any fellow students she could find ( 2) and call in as a party of 3 for her return trip. This way it would be full fare, plus 2 $3.50 extra passenger charges. This is exactly what she did. However, at the airport they were each charged full fare. I spoke a couple of times with a guy named Vance, who said he would look into it. He keeps blowing me off. The way I see it, the driver knows he is dealing with kids who probably have never called a cab by themselves before. So he knows he can get away with anything. Students: If a group of you get together to ride to or from the airport. Tell the driver he can only charge one fare, plus the extra $3.50. Good Luck until Uber comes to town. read more

We called 8 times before the call actually went through. It kept telling us busy call back. How do you run a business with only one phone line?! We called before our plane even left Seattle to reserve a taxi pick us up at BZN to take us home. After we landed and got our bags there was no taxi to be found. We called and they had no record of our call or reservation. They said they could have someone to get us in 15-20 minutes. Not only were they not even remotely sorry, they did this to us when they were supposed to pick us up to TAKE us to the airport. Thanks, but no thanks Greater Valley Taxi. We walked home instead at 12:30 am from the airport. We will NEVER call you again. read more

My driver from the airport was friendly enough and provided lots of information about Bozeman and the surrounding area.. however, the fare to downtown at $31 not including tip is highway robbery.. literally ;) I think they are the only taxi service so they can charge whatever they want but I would have thought this sort of thing would be regulated. Not to mention, tried to share a ride with another traveler from the airport to split the fare and was told on arriving at the destination that it would cost EACH of us $31 (even with just one drop off location) since I specified one person when I made the call from the airport kiosk. Probably could have rented a car for the weekend for less! read more

This is an update from my first review which I also gave 5 stars. So, after my first really great experience, and then booking several more times, I've had NO problems, but I was given a few tips. It IS possible to call for a taxi but not get a taxi. If they are extremely busy, they are booked and so you may not get a taxi. So, I asked how to avoid that situation as there are not many options available. I was told to book online as soon as the system will allow you to do so. Then, I called the night before to confirm my reservation and this method worked each time. I don't know if it is just sometimes more busy than what they can handle? Anyway, it worked for me each time. I was initially concerned after reading some scathing reviews, but I didn't experience that. Maybe, I am taking more precautions and just not expecting that I will get a taxi if I call at the last minute. read more

I have used this service three times now. My first two experiences were only ok, albeit very expensive. They charge by the person, not the distance. So, if you and your roommate are going home (to the EXACT same place), you will pay DOUBLE the charge. That's right folks, same distance, same car, DOUBLE the price!!!! It is about $45 for 14 miles! My third experience left me calling and requesting a call from the owner, which I NEVER received. I was running late to work and was waiting outside for my taxi when I got a call asking where my house was?! I was surprised, as I know that the driver's carry tablets equipped with GPS and credit card scanning capability. After giving the driver directions to my house, she finally showed up and proceeded to argue with me about the way I asked her to take me, which I happen to know is the fastest. We got 3/4 of the way through my ride and turned around and said, "oh, by the way, I don't have any way to take a credit card this morning. The girl who gives out the tablets wasn't there this morning" (!?!... As she ate her McDonald's breakfast in the front seat !?!) I told her that I had no other way to pay her, and she had the nerve to ask me to go to an ATM! I then informed her that she had already made me late, and I was NOT going to go to an ATM, that her dispatch could call me and I could give them my credit card number over the phone. She pleaded with me to just write it down for her, so she wouldn't get in trouble. I thought about just saying no and hopping out, but I was terrified she would chase me into my office and cause a scene. So, like a giant dummy, I wrote down my credit card info and left it with her. The credit card was a brand new account that I had only been using for about a week and a half. You can imagine my surprise when I tried to use the card the VERY NEXT DAY and it was declined! As it turns out, the card had been compromised but the bank caught it and had deactivated it. Certainly, there are plenty of ways that a card number that can be stolen. However, it had only been used online with Amazon (super secure), and otherwise hadn't even left my possession at a restaurant!! It seems awfully coincidental that just the day before I had written down the card number for Greater Valley Taxi...and my driver was a woman, and all the purchases made illegally on my card were for women's clothing and jewelry...just saying! Of course, immediately after hanging up with the bank I called the taxi service. Their night manager assured me she would definitely have the owner call me. He has never even attempted to address my terrible customer experience, MUCH LESS THE SERIOUS POSSIBILITY THAT HIS EMPLOYEES ARE THIEVES! Taxi's with no meters, criminal/dishonest pricing structure, drivers who argue with customer's requests for route, drivers who show up and drive you across town before they tell you they can't take a credit card, credit card thief drivers, drivers with no GPS...and even if you call the Belgrade number, all the taxi's wait in Bozeman. So, good luck getting anyone over to Belgrade for a solid 20 minutes or more! I can't wait for the day another taxi company opens, or Montana state gets a clue and allows Uber...exactly in order to combat criminal monopolies like Greater Valley Taxi! Do yourself a favor and walk! read more
