I've been several times and never been disappointed. My most notable meals were the sausage and mash with the red wine gravy, and the leg of lamb. The views are great. As if the food weren't enough, the views from this side of Cleeve Hill (the west side) are great. Despite the place being called Rising Sun, there are great sunsets to be had. I recommend that you call ahead to reserve a good seat. Otherwise, you're stuck in the interior of the restaurant with nothing but good food (and hopefully good company) to enjoy.

We are unsure as to why you did not see either of us as one of us is always downstairs. On both dates stated we were front of house. Whilst I understand we cannot please everybody we have a large number of satisfied repeat customers who eat here 3-4 times a week, week in week out. As a result of feedback given we no longer take bookings and in reference to table service it does clearly state on 2 different boards that customers are to order at the bar. Please rest assure we take all feedback as constructive regardless of how negative a review is written. Also in regards to no beer on the 24th Dec this is totally incorrect as we had Hobgoblin our guest beer on and banks mild, the only cask not on was banks bitter. Thank you for feedback

At this point we had given up on the day and just whatever was placed infront of us. Not the best food in the world. The service was OK, and the staff friendly enough, but not the place I like to eat. Branded pubs just don't do it for me normally. This was one I'd decide not to visit again.
