This place is like a time warp. It's kind of like going back twelve or so years, the decor looks rather noughts hotel (though I see that it has been redone in that time, odd), and someone who likes card making has DEFINITELY attacked the toilets, which is a bit odd, but another thing is STEAKS FOR LESS THAN £15?! What sorcery is this?
Much of the menu is £8.95 and £10.95, with specials and a cute little pudding board- I was hankering after a traditional banana split (it's not bad for you if there's fruit in it...) but my dinner ended up being so huge.
It's a bit of an old man pub, with proper ales and a full bar, but the food is the sort of stuff that I'm certain most Grandparents would be very happy with. Kind of large portions, cheap ingredients, no nonsense old pub grub.
I lumped for a steak, mine was a little gristly, and they hadn't rested the meat, but it was cooked perfectly, with peas, salad, mushrooms, chips, onion rings, it was quite an extensive platter.
It's not gastro food, but the staff are lovely, and you're going to get a lot of bang for your buck quantity wise, and a chocolate with the bill. read more
