This is a great little pub, they show football and other sports and have an overhead projector…read morescreen so watching football is great. These are also known as a great live music venue and have music on most nights and weekends. They have some great covers bands on and love their rock. The locals are great and make you feel very welcome. They have an outside smoking area which is heated. They also have a cashpoint machine inside and a cigarette machine. It can get very busy at weekends when the bands are on. They have a website you can check out who is playing and directions of how to get there if you need it. Its well worth a visit.

The weighbridge is a perfect example of a country put, sat right on the doorstep of Alvechurch train station. The beer is good at prices at less than £3 a pint and the staff and locals are friendly. There's not much more you could want from a country pub. The pub is split into 3 or four smaller rooms each housing 4 or so tables, with a number of snugs and standing room at the bar. Its not a big place but they have put up a headed 'tent' at the back of the venue to handle overspill, which I imagine is a godsend during one of their beer festivals. Well worth a visit, and right next to the Alvechurch marina for a little after dinner/pint wander.

Located right on the canal next to the Alvechurch Marina, The Weighbridge seems to be the perfect pit stop for anyone on a narrow boat holiday, though my visit was via train, which was just as convenient with the Cross City line stopping nearby. Like any classic, traditional village pub, the interior was split into a number of small rooms, which was perfect for the group meeting that I was attending, but I never felt it was crowded anywhere. There is also plenty of space outdoors to enjoy a drink in the sunshine. The beers on offer were all superb - a nice variety of real ales starting at £2.80 a pint. The condition was great, and they even had a brew made especially for them - The Tillerman's Tipple. As if that couldn't be topped, the food on offer was everything you could hope for. Like many of my colleagues I opted for a "Porker's Ploughmans" which featured a whole pork pie and everything you'd expect in a traditional ploughman's lunch. At £6.75 it was great value for what was a very generous portion. Unfortunately the pub does close between 3 and 7 every day, so it may not be ideal for everyone looking to visit, but I for one would definitely advocate reworking your schedule to allow you to pop in to this place - a traditional English pub in every sense of the term!
