On entering, the restaurant was quite full and a birthday party was in evident. We had to wait a little while whilst our table was ready and ordered drinks at the bar. It was easy for the drinks to be added to bill, which saved messing about with separate payments. We decided to just order mains (I'll come onto the pudding later). A young lady explained the specials' menu and some of the dishes which was handy. Unfortunately, one of the starter items was no longer available off the specials' menu. The bill was made up of the following: 1 pint of Moretti - £5.90 1 250ml of Chardonnay - £9.90 1 Pork Ciabatta - £12.50 1 "Rollover Roast" - Beef - "23.50 1 Apple and Berry Crumble with custard - £8.50 1 125ml of Chardonnay - £5.20 Total = £65.50. The rollover roast was served with roast potatoes and a Yorkshire pudding, with gravy over the meat. A mix of vegetables was served separately with a jug of gravy (delicious). I enjoyed it all. The vegetables were cooked just right, especially the broccoli. The pork ciabatta - My wife commented that the pork was lovely, but the ciabatta was difficult to bite into, and she left one part. The crumble - Came out extremely hot. It was clear that the custard had the addition of vanilla and tasted good. I could have done with more :-). The crumble topping was great and reminded me of granola. I battled as best as I could, but my eyes had been bigger than my stomach and I was stuffed. I'm a bit of a sucker for any fruit crumble. Shame. The service was attentive given how busy they were in the restaurant. Forgot to mention the rocking table; I corrected it by putting my serviette under the leg.... I was spotted and this was resolved with a wedge, but it took two attempts. One of my dislikes are rocking tables. However, as I say, it was resolved. Hopefully, my review puts matters right compared to the one left on the 29 Jun 2014. Would I return? Yes!

My most recent visit was for a light lunch with a colleague, so we each had a pint of Marston's Burton Bitter, and we had a crab and prawn sandwich and a Parma ham, and mozzarella sandwich, sharing a bow of chips between us. This light lunch was delicious, the service was good and the bill, including a large tomato juice, was £26.60. A firm favourite and we'll be back again.

When someone eventually came over to take our food order, we ordered a range of really nice sounding food. Unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment! And the building itself was nice, but my party were squished into one corner, and couldn't move about without the whole of one side of the table stood up and moved. Generally this pub/restaurant was okay, and I would not personally recommend it, but I wouldn't exactly avoid it. Although that said, they did have a nice variety of food, with plenty of choice.
