Unless you are desperate I would recommend to give it a miss. Some of the worst Chinese food I've had. Tried four times, once was mediocre (the good one). Bland to the point of tasteless. Twice had someone pick me up to go orders. Both wrong. Both times covered in some really sweet (and not at all sour) goop which was definitely not what I ordered. The quality is terrible, and it does not reflect what you're paying for. The only bright spot was the woman at the front counter, who was pleasant and friendly. If I could give zero stars I would. First off let me say- horrible customer service. I called HER on the phone and SHE asked for my zip code and because I didn't respond in 2 seconds she literally screamed "ZIPCODE" and I had to tell her can you PLEASE stop yelling at me? The second time I went in I didn't have a mask on and I was at the door staying near the door to follow guidelines TRYING to signal to HER and ask if they had a mask for me to wear. I asked multiple times as she was literally shooing me out with her hand to get out of her restaurant. Then proceeded to hand me a mask after I was about to leave. What was the point? It disgusted me the way she was trying to shoo me out like a fly. You seriously treat customers that way? I almost left completely but I wanted Chinese food. Now it's time for the disgusting food they gave me. I ordered General Sous chicken with broccoli. I had 4 pieces of broccoli and the chicken on the top was FRESH. After you take about 4-5 bites off the top there's a massive clump of DRY, HARD CHICKEN. The chicken was not even edible. I wasted $15 on half a serving of food. You can easily tell that these people use old food, and put just barley fresh stuff on top to make you think it's gonna be delicious. Absolutely horrid, and nasty. I get carry out from Great Wall 2-3 times a week. I like their food, they don't use a lot of soy sauce so the food is not overly salty. The people behind the counter are friendly. The dining area is marginal if you're looking for a dining in experience, expect very simple and basic. read more

I just had lunch at the Great Wall in Cobleskill on Friday, May 15, 2020. I ordered sesame chicken, eggroll, and a diet soda. This was off the lunch menu. $17.97. Normally this is a $10 meal. They screwed up my order, got no rice with my chicken. Only a couple of pieces of very rough piece of broccoli. The chicken was ok, but come on, where is my rice???? The person who was with me order chop Suey, eggrolls, and a diet soda. Also off the lunch menu. $14.97 I know food prices are going up, but this is just crazy prices for fast food. I will not be eating there again any time soon. This company is definitely price gouging. The restaurant itself is just your typical go-to Chinese walkup. Nothing fancy or interesting about it. I give a pass on a lot of the dingier aspects of it, because it's really just like every other place like this I've been to. Standard menu. Red text on white. Standard thoroughfare. I wasn't super impressed with my sweet and sour chicken, but I've had worse. So no big. I'm giving four stars because the prices were good versus the amount of food. Easily the best Chinese food on the planet! How do I know this? I've eaten Chinese food in Beijing, Shanghai, Seoul, NYC, Stockholm, and Baghdad to name a few cities. I've never had a tastier General Tso/Orange Chicken, or wonton-soup. Service is prompt, always 10minutes or less. Staff is friendly and the food is well priced. Don't let the building fool you, there are world-class chefs inside. This is a typical Chinese place in Upstate NY. Basically that means bland, Americanized Chinese food. You will not get NYC Chinese here, that is for sure. But you will get decent food fairly cheaply. Their soups are good, their fried rice is bland. Generally, when I want decent Chinese and I'm willing to pay a few dollars more, I order from the Red Apple Buffet in the next building over. I called today, Sunday January 20th at 9:20pm, on yelp and google it states you are open till 10:30pm EVERYNIGHT. Being that their is hardly any places to take out food in the town of Cobleskill past 9pm it became dependent on Great Wall to get food without it being fast food. Awesome egg rolls!! Food is always fresh, kitchen noticeably clean with a hardworking staff. Only downfall to location is that you can't sit down, have a Mai tai and enjoy a true "night out for Chinese". Just a heads-up: This is not an authentic Chinese food place; it is an American-Chinese food place-- typical egg rolls and crab wonton, general tso's, sesame chicken etc, and not real Chinese comfort food that real Chinese people eat at their homes. Just establishing the difference so no one expects authentic food similar to Chinatown in NYC like duck, la zi ji, soup dumplings, or zha jiang mian etc. Now that we got that straight, I'll get on to the review. :) We were at nearby Howe Caverns and this Chinese food place is just ten minutes away. We ordered take out and food was ready in 15 minutes. Food was good; we had the egg drop soup, boneless spareribs, chicken curry, egg rolls, rice . Staff was very pleasant. Typical decor for a take-out Chinese place-- nothing fancy,  but clean and functional. Do not expect to be seated by a hostess; just plop yourself in a booth, go up to the counter and order. I requested Sesame noodles which was not on the menu and was told they could make it. What they gave me was awful. The noodles were over cooked and sticky with residual starch, The Sesame sauce was too thick and poured over the noodles, not mixed in. Taste was bland and this was the 'spicy' version I was told. At $7 for a quart, this was way overpriced. I would never go back and advise any one hungering for Chinese take out, that they would be better off walking to the nearby Price Chopper supermarket and buying frozen entries. Unfortunatly Chinese Resturants are hard to come by in Cobleskill. But your better off not eating here. I tried it and my order of Beef sticks were dry and tasteless. My Shrimp with Lobster Sauce was watery and flat tasting also. So I figure I try again, I placed an order in person and warned the lady taking the order that last time my Shrimp with Lobster Sauce was like soup and if my Shrimp with Lobster Sauce is watery again I am not taking or paying for it. But I gave them another chance, my daughter wanted Chinese, so I sent her in to make her order. We got home and I opened the Tereiki Chicken Sticks. Wow the oder from them like old oil. And I didnt want to eat them but I had to know if they were going to make me sick or not. I tried one , it was without a doubt old chicken,dry ,hard, tasteless except for the old oil it all sat in all night no doubt. This was yesterdays chicken sticks , left over and refrigeratored overnight and re heated. Case closed 3 strikes your out. Eat in Stamford NY Ming Moon. Now as of this date after telling my story to friends I have been told the Wall has roaches and Bd of Health issues in the past. I dont know how true that is but I cant rule out that being false.
