Wasn't the worst. Do not expect much if you come in between dinner and lunch shifts. Food is not changed now properly but the food is good. Not worth the money. Very unsanitary. Charged us for dinner prices when we arrived before lunch was over and left 15 minutes after arriving. read more

I ordered the Sesame Chicken lunch special. It was horrible. The sauce didn't taste right at all. The chicken was very dry and tough with a thick coating and the I believe the egg roll was re fried as it was very dark and greasy inside and very dark on the outside. Lousy taste. read more

Ahh, China Buffet. I don't care what it's really called, it's just another China Buffet. This place fits the bill, but there are some exceptions given the location of the place. The food is par for the course, the decorum typical (giant glowing pictures, huge gaudy waterfall castles, waving golden cats), but the one thing that is different is there is literally nothing else around this place to eat, so, the masses (pun very much intended), come in droves to the NY Great Wall Buffet. Moral of the story: If you are around Newark ,NY for some reason and can't drive anymore and just have to eat something in a mass quantity, go here and observe while you eat. Questionable practice: most China Buffets have ice cream of some sort, usually a soft serve machine. This place has a scoop-your-own-out-of-tubs operation that is highly questionable given how many mitts dip in and our of the tubs. Knuckle scraping has to occur....just saying.....your ice cream will be prefisted. read more

This was much better than I'd expected. The worst part was an old, stale fortune cookie they give you when you leave. The peel & eat shrimp were good, Firm, not mushy, and tasty with the cocktail sauce. They had some good seafood on the lunch buffet which included surimi, shrimp and calamari. They also had a nice calamari salad along with sushi. They kept the steam pans clean and refilled. They also had clams and mussels. Plenty of American foods as well including pizza, onion rings, and chicken wings. Service was good. Reasonably priced. read more

Growing up my friends and I would travel all over to try different Chinese Buffets. We never had one in Newark though until a couple years ago when this place opened up. It was awesome for the first few months as it was always busy, served the best food around and had so many choices of food. Now, it's probably one of the worst around. I went here last week only because it was snowing A LOT outside and the roads were a little too unsafe to make the trip to Geneva. I was hoping for them to have crab legs but they didn't. The food wasn't very fresh and not fresh "chinese" food is gross. I still ate it though and filled up. The good thing is the prices, lunch is only $6.25 which is what I'd probably pay for a container of the same from any other place. Also they now have Turkey Hill ice cream and it's as much as you want so it's good to just go there for that. Overall I hope to not go back anytime soon and I wish they'd get more business just so that their food quality will improve. read more

It's your small town typical buffet style restaurant. It's Americanized Chinese food as most Chinese restaurants are. You are there to serve yourself and get anything you desire on the buffet and they even have desserts. I miss the great ice cream bar I have seen in others but they do offer ice cream. It's a great place for the hungry person where one or two plates just isn't enough. It's not anything exceptional but food is plentiful. read more

Yesterday we had for the first time lunch at this Restaurant and we liked it. The staff was friendly and attentive and the place was clean. The Buffet had many choices such as various vegetables and large variety of chicken to choose from. Salad and fruits was not missing either, nor was the desserts. If any items where empty they replenished​ them immediately. We understand that it is under new ownership. And on top of it the prices are very reasonable. We definitely will recommend it to friends and family. read more

It's not all bad. The place is a bit dingy, the staff isn't particularly professional but not unfriendly either. The place suffers from common buffet problems like the food sitting too long, some items being out or not made that day, and sometimes the occasional dirty dish in with the clean ones. I haven't found anything totally disgusting yet so I continue to visit, sometimes more than once in a week. The price varies - you can get a small box of whatever you want, to go, for as little as $3.50. Weekends and dinner cost more, up to about $10-11 for a weekend night buffet trip. Of course you're paying the extra for a slightly better/different selection. Usually there are some veggie dishes, a small salad bar, some rather lame sushi, a bunch of meat dishes (mostly fried), rice/noodles, a few cakes, and some good ice cream. The ice cream impressed me; the cheescake flavor has cake chunks, the butter pecan has big pecan pieces, etc. The other deserts are pretty dry and bland. read more

Food was NOT what I was expecting. Sweet and sour chicken was good. But the rest had minimal flavor of none at all. Came home feeling sick after eating only 1 plate of food. read more

The good thing is that Great Wall Buffet is close. The price is fine and the variety is okay. But there are often dishes that seem to have been sitting a long time, and when the pan is low, they're not always prompt about bringing out more. Perhaps the time of day has something to do with it as most of my experiences were not at peak hours. Strangely enough, I always seem to be cold when I dine in there so now if I go, I make sure I have a jacket or sweater. I'll probably continue to go from time to time because my daughter likes it.
