I came here a few years ago to put some sub-woofers in my Honda CRV, so when I needed a stereo for my new car I figured I'd check this place out. Upon entering the property, I immediately noticed it was much smaller overall than I remembered. The store literally looked like it had been cut in half, and the once boisterous selection of stereos I had been excited to look through was cut down to a selection of 8 horrendously overpriced models. I like to support small businesses, so I figured I'd stick around to see what kind of deal we could work out. I was ignored for a good 20 minutes as the customers in suits and ties all received very prompt service and attention. My warning flags were going up already, but I wanted to see what might happen next once someone finally asked me if I needed help. I was approached with a very blunt "what do you need?" as I was browsing. I went on to talk about my car, how I was looking to upgrade my stereo, and just casual questions and conversation to lighten the mood- the guy seemed either stressed out or on the spot to make sales. We talked numbers, and I was offered what seemed to have been a previously owned stereo from another car for roughly $85.00, not including installation or parts- this would have kicked it up to $150+. I didn't want some POS, I was looking to invest in an up to date model with the bells and whistles. The next offer was for a small, 1 din stereo, the cheapest one they had on display @ roughly $95. The installation was going to cost an additional $45, and the parts "needed" would have made the total rise to a whopping $250. I was put on the spot to make an appointment for installation- a common tactic in sales to secure the transaction before you can think twice. I let him know I wanted to check out the other models and compare prices/features, and he ran in the back, letting me know "not to go anywhere!". I whipped out my phone, looked up the parts needed and the stereo itself. Found the stereo for $50, the parts were $12 and labor was estimated to take about half an hour. At this point I knew I was getting taken for an idiot, so I walked out. Come here if you simply need installation or work done on the electrical aspect of your vehicle. The sub-woofers I had installed years ago worked perfectly. Avoid the sales floor at any cost, and double check everything anyone here tells you online with a quick Google search. I ended up going to Best Buy and getting a stereo that had been advertised to me here for over $400 at a total of $136- that price includes the stereo, parts, and FREE installation. read more

Had two car starters installed a few years ago. Due to a change in cellular technology they weren't working properly anymore. I called and they told me to stop by anytime. I stopped the following day and they took care of it immediately. They were very professional and eager to help. read more

I just recently purchased a 2000 Jeep Wrangler, Sahara edition with a couple of blown out speakers. I decided I'd give Great Scott a try since I had decent experience with them in the past and they don't have any bad reviews. As I walked in the layout was different from what I remembered "less product". I wasn't welcomed when entered, as I had to be the one to initiate the conversation. Helpful at first to figure out the sizes I needed. But while I did my research online to install them myself I knew I needed a frame adapter for my front speakers. The guy insured me that I didn't and that he's put these in, in over 30 Jeeps. I took his advise as this is what he does for a living. I bought a pair of 4x6 front and 6 1/2 for my sound bar. The total came to $191 which seemed okay with no install. I drive back home and begin to install the front 4x6 pioneers. To my surprise I was correct that I needed the frame adapter. Soooo I got back into my Jeep and drove back to Great Scotts. Same guy again, told him the issue. Showed him my stock speaker and the one I bought from him. Showed him how I needed a frame adapter and he seemed surprised. Told me he's never seen anything like this in a TJ Jeep Wrangler before. Which I find crazy because it's stock and there's a metal frame within the Jeep where you put the frame/speaker. Told him the issues and how I was upset. Gave me the option of a 5 1/4 adapter but had no 5 1/4 speakers..... or to return the products. Returned the products and got my money back. He never admitted he was wrong let alone give an apology. Literally said, "I don't know what you want me to do." That's not how you run a business. Go learn some customer service. Only give 2 stars because of past experience and referrals. Maybe I just had a fluke experience? You be the judge. But one things for sure, I won't be going back. read more

I've had multiple stereos , tint jobs , and Plenty of alarms , remote starters ( five ) , and safety flashing lights and lots of other parts installed on my different cars and trucks Over the ten years plus that I been going there . I've came up with some crazy configuring Ideas for my stereos , and Tom always makes it work , he does a clean job , sometimes he had to take apart most of the insides of the car to make it work and it went back together without any rattles or lose parts . They use a quality tint ( not the stuff that looks purple when the light hits it ) . You can Have any shade of tint from legal to Lemo. Check them first with your car needs and Even if they might not do what you need , he's Not to proud to recommend a quality dealer . His staff is good , but Tom is the go to guy. They stand by their work , and they fully Warranty it . I've brought things back that I That wore out due to heavy use , and they Fixed it , and things not under warranty , was fixed and I even got a deal on the price . . read more

I am genuinely impressed with the customer service at this store. I was having trouble with a device I had installed here. The man who worked with me wouldn't let me leave until he had it fixed. Not only did he replace my unit with minimal hassle, but he promised to help me avoid additional fees. After correcting an issue with the ground, not only did the device work better but my radio reception was back to original levels. Cannot recommend this store more. read more

I highly recommend these guys. I have had 2 stereos and subwoofers (in two different vehicles), and a backup camera installed. Every time, quality work, friendly staff, reasonable wait times. In one of my vehicles, the battery was disconnected and lost my stereo settings. I called to get advice on setting it back up. He had me come in so they could do it for me. This was my first experience with this shop. It was at the Norwich location. My appointment was at 9 am (opening time). There was only one person working in the showroom, I'm guessing the manager or owner. There were no salesmen or other customer service reps, so I'm not sure who is in charge of helping people to find what they're looking for. Luckily, my needs were simple. I just needed a one-button remote starter. The man at the counter had me checked in by about 9:05, which isn't bad, considering he was on a phone call and helping another customer when I walked in (Like I said, they could use a floorperson). The service only took about 90 minutes. No muss, no fuss. They do need to add more variety into their magazine offerings in the waiting area. One year-old Connecticut Magazine, a bunch of industry stuff (sound systems, etc.), and lots and lots of Esquire and GQ magazines. They should know that their customer base includes more than just men and sound junkies. read more
