We have visited once before and had nothing but an amazing experience. We went back again this year…read moreand again had a great experience. Couldn't be happier with the entire visit. The bar was busy as it was memorial weekend and if the guest didn't understand then you need to understand business. The amount of things for kids was great having the splash pad, huge blow up slide, the bounce house, and the parks for them to enjoy. Never felt unsafe or not on with the kids running and playing at the park alone with us watching them from the camp site. For wood is cheap when it being nog able to bring your own in and the restaurant and bar isn't expensive. The downfall is the WIFI coverage got worse from the last visit. We had absolutely no reception to connect the tv for the kids and well our Cell provider is garbage. The lady at the store noted they are updating the WIFI boosters. The day we left we decided to stop up at the restaurant and have some snacks before leaving the service was slower but they were busy and had a lot of things they were trying to accomplish with poor staff minus the manager or leader of some sort the was stressed but made the best of it. We will be back and are going back in only a few short days. Skip Away you made us visitors until we turn to a seasonal space.

He even brought us some free wood. We are from Door County Wisconsin, and it was nice to get away and meet such kind people. I would highly recommend this campground if you are just cruising through Guttenberg, Iowa or you want a unique experience. There was even a nice little creek running through the property. Miners Creek for a memorable two days

Office open to buy…read morewood, clean, relaxing setting, but this was clearly more of a place to park your home and go to work. We were next to the road, across from the wood shop, and a dumpster with garbage flowing outside. There was no picnic table and the fire ring was not usable. If you are just looking for a place to park im sure this is fine but if you are looking for a relaxing outside experience this is not your place. I wish we had known before we drove the distance.

There are different themed suites and they have large tubs to enjoy a soak. The indoor Koi pond and native american decor is an added bonus. Rooms: There were two rooms in the basement- one with a full size bed, the other a queen with an adjoining bathroom. On the main level there was a queen room with a jacuzzi and a main bathroom that was separate. The top floor had multiple twin sized beds(i'm sorry, I didn't count!). Very roomy, had a living room space on the main floor and a small area downstairs too.

We had never been to McGregor, and wanted to hike around Effigy national monument and Pikes Peak. The Strauer House was a perfect launching point for these parks--only a 15-20 min drive away. The House is a comfortable walk from town (few blocks) and an easy drive from Marquette and Prairie Du Chen. AND our hostess was very friendly, helpful, and made a mean breakfast! (With such big beautiful breakfasts, we only really ate two meals-- breakfast and dinner --while under her roof!) The other travelers that came through while we stayed here were all very friendly and polite. Like other b&b's, the caretaker and family are on premises. But there's more than enough space to feel off on your own in this large home!

We stayed here to hike Effigy Mounds and the surrounding area. There's also Pike's Peak just down…read morethe road, and of course, the mighty Mississippi. Cozy decor. This house is old and full of history--it's cool! Donna is great and accommodating. Two things to note: The Stauer bedroom and Rummage room do each have their own private bathroom, but they are not attached to the room. You had to walk down the hall. The other two rooms (I forget their names: Maids room and something else) did have attached bathrooms. There are also no keys to lock your door (but a lock from the inside to sleep at night). We felt okay leaving our backpacks in the room, and everyone respected each other's privacy.
