I had a very concerning experience at this dental office regarding my mother's treatment. She initially went in to fix a single broken tooth. During the visit, a broader treatment plan was proposed involving her existing implants, with an original quoted cost of about $6,000. However, after treatment began, the cost was increased to around $9,000 without a clear explanation that we felt comfortable with. After the damaged tooth was removed, additional components from other implant-supported teeth were also removed. As a result, multiple previously stable implant teeth became dislodged, leaving her in a much worse condition than when she started. We were told temporary crowns were placed, but they fell off the very next day, leaving her without proper restoration. We prepaid $1,600, and after only a couple of visits, without resolving the issue, we were asked to commit to the higher treatment cost. Given the outcome and our concerns, we requested a refund for the unused portion, but this was refused. Overall, this experience has been extremely disappointing. We felt there was a lack of clear communication about the procedures performed, the risks involved, and the changing costs. I strongly encourage others to seek a second opinion and fully understand the treatment plan before proceeding. read more

This review is long overdue - I've been a client of Dr Lui for about three years now, absolutely hands down the kindest, most sincere and professional dentist I have ever had! For nearly a decade, I've been coping w/ gum recession, cavities, root canals, many of which a now suspect were mismanaged by former dentists. Dr Lui has been wonderful in explaining each area of concern, how best to proceed in care and working with me as my job and occasional unfortunate health conditions have created barriers to treatment. Although wish my gum recession weren't so bad, I do feel Dr Lui is doing all she can to help me save my teeth while helping me look my best. With this I feel more confident in showing my teeth when I smile. Thank you Dr Lui and staff for helping me keep my anxiety to a minimum as we continue my oral care. As someone who has been very very very scared of going to dentists due to anxiety and some bad experiences as a young child (to the point of not going for almost 15+ years), Dr. Lu was incredibly comforting, kind, and gentle throughout the entire process of my root canals and follow ups. She very luckily caught that a couple of my teeth had an issue--an unnoticed infection due to a condition I have with my teeth. The infection was actually connected with my sinus nerves and could have potentially traveled up to my nose or jaw!!! I'm very grateful to her for having caught it when it was still treatable. The root canal was over a year ago and I have had no issues with the tooth or the crown. Dr Lu is very knowledgable and her staff are always friendly, professional, and efficient whenever I come in. Hello, because to clean the teeth, Dr. Lu said that I have periodontitis, the best treatment spent thousands of dollars, and said that it was best to remove the wisdom teeth, because the wisdom teeth are too deep and difficult to clean, so that there is no need to worry about tooth worms and affect the next tooth, and spent more than 1,000 dollars, in fact, my teeth are basically no problem, the result of the extraction of wisdom teeth hurt my tongue nerve, resulting in more than a year can not recover, In this way, half of my tongue was unconscious all my life, so I often hurt my tongue when eating. What is important is that she did not recommend a neurologist to give me active treatment. We have been going to Dr. Lu for 5 years and we couldn't be happier. From the receptionist, Vasu, to the dental assistants and Dr.Lu, we always feel like VIPs. Making appointments are always easy. Vasu makes it easy and she is always accommodating to our schedule. Our 2 little boys (5 and 6 yrs old) look forward to their appointments. They are so good with kids. Equipments are modern and the office is clean. When we needed something done, Dr.Lu can give couple options depending on your budget. My husband is currently aligning his teeth with Invisalign and then will get an implant. I have gotten a couple of crowns done. We are extremely happy with the service here! read more

To follow up on our previous review of Dr. Lu, her office called to ask that my husband to come back today to discuss his treatment with Dr. Lu Instead of offering to try to repair the damage she did to his teeth, Dr. Lu and her staff threatened my husband with police action for harrassment- after they insisted he come back to her office. Incredible. She stated that, because I wasn't a licensed lawyer in CA, I could not "represent" my husband. A married couple can file a legal action for money damages in small claims court, and no attorneys are allowed for this type of action. Obviously Dr. Lu is misinformed about a patient's access to the courts. Dr. Lu and her very unprofessional staff thought​ that they could intimidate my husband, but all they accomplished was a well drafted complaint to the Dentistry Board -- and a civil lawsuit. Dr. Lu's level of care and expertise were not acceptable, and her ethics are even worse. I don't recommend that you trust Dr. Lu to care for your family! read more

Unbelievably poor experience here. I had to have some work done, which required fillings. When the work was done, even with the numbness, I could tell that my bite was off, and the fillings needed some adjustment. Dr. Lu's assistant told me to wait a few weeks, because I was numb. I repeated that something didn't feel right, and was told to be patient and wait for the numbness to wear off. Later that evening, as the numbness wore off, my bite was not touching on one side of my mouth, and I was very uncomfortable, and had difficulty chewing food. When I called, the staff immediately got very defensive, and was in no way professional. Two days later, I went back in to have the adjustment done. As the work was being done Dr. Lu nicked my lip with the tool she was using. As opposed to acknowledging the accident, she told me that my lip split... the feeling of a drill scraping your lip is much different than your lip splitting. As I was leaving, I calmly told her that she nicked my lip, and that it did not split. She began to insist that she take pictures, and argued that she did not nick my lip. Repeatedly. She said it over and over again. I then explained that I was upset that I told her assistant that something didn't feel right on my initial visit, and they made no effort to correct it on the first visit. By far the worst dental experience I've ever had. There was also no apology at any time. If things don't go as planned here, the customer service is terrible. read more

Best dentist place I have ever been to! Went in for an apt. The staff is great, friendly and professional. Vasu is wonderful to work with. She is understanding and willing to work with you on scheduling and payments. Dr. Lu is a maricle worker. Practically gave me a new smile! Had three crowns put on in a matter of weeks. Sized, pictured, xrays, the works. Vasu and Dr. Lu also go over an extensive treatment plan and make it very transparent to understand. They make sure you know what your ins covers what they discount and what you owe. Plus they take care credit. I will not go anywhere else from now on. Dr. Beatrice Lu did a root canal and crown my on #15 molar. After 3-1/2 years it had leaked to the point of causing it to rot from the inside. It was unsavable and had to be pulled. She would not take responsibility for her shoddy work and the loss of my tooth. I went to a reputable dentist who told me the crown leaked causing the rot from the inside. I will never go back to Dr. Beatrice Lu. I should have checked these reviews before even considering Dr. Beatrice Lu. I have 6 other crowns in my mouth that have lasted me over ten years; one I have had for over 40 years, all with no problems at all. read more

New patient be careful!!! This dental asks mandatory full mouth X-ray for new patient. But insurance only covers this in 60-month period(I just learnt this after I visited them). That says you had to wait 5 years to do X-ray if I really need it. But this is their first step. The whole staff makes you feel at ease and comfortable, they are very professional and get everything done in a timely matter while assuring a friendly and positive vibe in the entire office. Went to visit Dr. Lu for the first time and the office is very nice looks like they spent a lot of money on the office and equipment there. The staff was very nice and pleasant. I went in because there was some swelling in my jaw and it concerned me because I knew it could be an infection in my tooth. After my x-rays and examination Dr. Lu said she pretty much thought it was an infection and that the tooth needed a root canal or a extraction! This is my tooth that is in between other teeth so I would have to get a new tooth put in! I'm in my 40's and already looking into dentures (1denture) I was not happy with the news!! Especially when it was going to cost me over $2500 out of pocket and about 2-3 months for healing and getting the new tooth put in. She pushed me to get the extraction done saying it's the best way and the only other treatment was a root canal and she said it would probably break and I would have to come in and get the extraction and pay again for the root canal and the extraction (if my crown broke). I went back to work depressed knowing I had to fork out $2500 and lose my tooth and put up with about 2-3 months of healing time!!! I asked around friends on my FB page if they knew any other dentist, and I found one and went to her on my sisters recommendation. It was actually an old family friend and I didn't know she went into dentistry and I went to her to get a 2nd opinion. She was a God send!! Went to her and she looked at my x-rays and she said I didn't need to get a extraction and I "might?" need a root canal. But she instead gave me antibiotics to fight the infection and a medicated mouth wash to use. I have done this for about 2 weeks and the swelling went away and no pain at all, not that I had pain in the beginning. She gave me a thorough cleaning of my teeth so my gums can get healthier and my tooth can heal. I spent $12 for the antibiotics, $4 for the medicated mouth wash (which at the dentist they charge $60 per shot in the infected area, I got the bottle for $4 at Target!!) So $16 total I spent and about 30min in the chair getting a deep cleaning under general anesthesia. Going in next week to get a 2nd check up on the area that was of concern, but so far everything look and feels GREAT! Thank you Christine Kim DDS in Huntington Beach!! So be aware people Always get a 2nd opinion looks like this DDS here just wants $$ to keep up her nice fancy office space and not look out for the patient!? I took my son , who is almost 7 yer old. Dr. Lu did a great job on him. Thanks to the experience, he will never hesitate to see a dentist. I got work done for myself as well. My root canal was pain free experience during and after the treatment. The doctor and the entire staff are so kind, knowledgable, caring and professional. From Vasu and Nicole at the front desk to Peter the dental assistant (there is a second dental assistant who is also wonderful) and Dr. Lu, I felt incredibly cared for through every visit - and there were many - I had 4 crowns/veneers installed. By far the best dentist I have EVER been to. Dr. Lu and her staff were always amazing over the past 3 years of visiting. Unfortunately I just relocated back to FL and I'm almost tempted to visit CA just to visit her. Very high technology used, which is not common everywhere. You get to see everything they are seeing with the xrays and photos placed on a TV in front of you. All the hygienist were great and Dr. Lu would occasionally do some of the cleaning because she is so passionate at her job. Small office which was nice, no waiting ever. She is able to work patients in as well. I only had cleanings done here, so I can not speak about other work, but based on the cleanings I would think she does a great job. I called Dr. Lu's office in the afternoon to make an appointment as a new patient. Her staff picked up the phone and I explained that I would like to make an initial/cleaning appointment as I would be a new patient. I was told to "hold" which I did for nearly 10 minutes. I thought they were super busy so I remained patient because I liked the prior review and it was close to my home. Finally, someone picked up and then promptly hung up on me. I was shocked. Against my better judgment, I called back 2-3 times and no one answered. Horrible front office staff and service! Too bad, I thought Dr. Lu would be my dentist but I am moving forward.
