Great Fosters Hotel was simply gorgeous. From the fabulous manicured grounds to the historic buildings and the excellent Michelin-starred restaurant, we absolutely loved our stay and highly recommend it. Our room was beautiful and we were grateful for the air conditioning. The Tudor Pass restaurant, now helmed by Executive Chef Stefano Du Giosia, had just reopened after a short break, ad we were the first dinner guests under his watch. Maitre d'hotel Chris was a charming conversationalist as we waited for the 7-course tasting dinner, sharing much hotel history with us. The excellent wait staff included Alex, Rose, and Luka who were all truly professional. Stefano came out of the kitchen from time to time to chat with us, explaning the dishes and their origins, as well as describing how closely he and his staff work with the hotel's gardeners to sustainably source vegetables and fruits on site and meats from the best UK regions: local lamb, scallops from Orkney, trout from Chalk Stream, and more. The presentations were lovely and the flavors exquisite. Luxury farm-to-fork! Most of all, the dining experience was friendly and cheerful, not stuffy. Worst customer service ever for a luxury resort. We had booked and CONFIRMED our reservation a month in advance. Just 1 week before our arrival, the hotel contacts us to say " so sorry, we are over-booked. Sold out for an event." Bullcrap..... we are getting bounced for an event that will need our suite and bring the hotel more $$$$$. Their " solution" is to move to another resort almost 2 hours away from Heathrow and offered us an airport transfer. NFW- no free night or anything. We will go elsewhere where guests are treated better. read more

Great Fosters saved our Christmas! My family had issues with our Airbnb and had to seek out alternate accommodations last minute. The Great Fosters staff set us up with three brilliant rooms, and were incredibly engaged with our wellbeing. My brother and sister in law have a five month old, and they set them up with a travel crib, brought room service on nights it wasnt offered, and assisted them whenever they had questions. The hotel is absolutely beautiful, extremely well kept, and would make an awesome wedding venue. The workers there take pride in their positions and are friendly and helpful. We will certainly be back when we visit my grandma in England again. Thank you, Great Fosters' team. You are all appreciated, especially the room service room, wow you guys were fantastic! read more

Great countryside location just outside London. Very close to Heathrow airport, maybe too close. Actually 4 stars instead of 5 is due to the noise of the planes. Not all rooms are very well sound proof. The whole hotel is built in an great castle where the Royal family was used to get for hunting. Perfect preservation of the old structure with all the modern comforts. Lot of dining rooms and conference rooms for any activity. From wedding party to corporate meetings. Swimming pool and restaurant. Most the veggies and cheeses are coming from the venue's farmland. Pricey, but hey, you got to have your castle :) Great and professional service. read more

My husband and Irecently had the pleasure of staying one night at Great Fosters hotel. Nestled near the heart of Windsor, this historical gem of a hotel left an indelible mark on us with its impeccable service and charming ambiance. From the moment we stepped through the small "door-in-a-door" we were immediately captivated by the enchanting and historical interior that exuded classical English charm. It was clear that great effort was taken to restore/preserve its history yet it still achieved the expectations for modern comforts. We were quite hungry the day we arrived and requested tea and we were escorted to a charming and secluded tearoom to our delight. The tea service was excellent and was a wonderful start to our stay. Afterwards, we took a stroll in the gorgeous gardens of the hotel and then retired to our room to rest before dinner. Our room was a blend of traditional and contemporary décor with a mix of antique furniture and modern amenities that provided us with a comfortable and relaxing space. It also had a scenic view of the amazing garden and grounds, which we truly enjoyed. To top off our stay, we ate at The Tudor Pass that is located in the hotel, which was absolutely outstanding. Great Fosters was truly a tranquil retreat where we were able to unwind and appreciate the beauty of an English estate and we wish we could have stayed longer. We highly recommend Great Fosters for anyone seeking an unforgettable, beautiful and historical hotel with excellent service and amenities. read more

Stayed here for a couple of nights. As you would expect in Europe, the rooms are smaller that folks for the U.S are use to. Service was second to none by all staff members. Let's meet over a curry, said my client. Sure thing I said. Perfect idea as I had been travelling for 36 hours without sleep. Casual clothes, mounds of spicy food and a disregard for good table manners were just what I needed. Then he took me to a restaurant, and I quote from their website: "Gracing an estate of more than fifty acres in what was once the heart of Royal Windsor Forest in Surrey, Great Fosters is the most distinguished of hotels - a Grade One listed building blessed with the grandeur of 16th century England and luxurious modern facilities." The description does not do this perfectly restored property justice. It is beautiful and perfectly captures the atmosphere of a fine gentlemen's club where you could happily wile away the afternoon in a leather armchair with your banking pals and a fine bottle of cognac. A tad underdressed in suitcase creased jeans and a thick woolly jumper I may have been, but the staff did not miss a beat in their welcome or service. And the food was fabulous. A mushroom soup with truffle that I will wake up thinking about for months followed by salmon dressed with a caper and seafood jus, perfect creamed potatoes and steamed vegetables that all made me want to lick the plate. Totally delicious and made all the more enjoyable by faultless, attentive, friendly yet discreet service. As perfect for a business lunch as a romantic dinner with somebody's wife. I'll be back as soon as I've pressed my suit. read more

The Great Fosters Hotel is a beautiful, Grade 1 listed, 14th Century building with vast and beautiful grounds. It's said Henry VIII once visited there. It's beautifully preserved with exposed, wooden beams, ornate wooden panelling, painted ceilings and paintings. The gardens are beautiful too, with decorative bridges, water features (they've got a moat!), plants and shrubbery. I was there for a Wedding Reception. So, I can't comment on the Hotel as a place to stay or the restaurant. It's not cheap but it did make and amazing venue for a Wedding. read more

Has Christmas lunch here recently with colleagues so can't comment on the hotel aspect, have to say the service was exceptional from all staff we encountered during our arrival, meal and departure. The food itself was well made, although pricey, it's the price range you expect from this level of venue. The grounds were exquisite although parking was very limited which makes me deduct one point. The entry to the main hotel/restaurant area has a lowered door and step up and it was not evident if there was any disabled access, although there must be something available. The lowered door seems rather dangerous, if you're walking in with a group and don't pay attention to the sign warning you it's quite likely that you might knock yourself out! The grounds look absolutely beautiful although we couldn't explore due to it raining all the way through our visit. This would be a fabulous venue for a wedding I imagine it would really be a day to remember. read more

My husband and I had a perfect stay at Great Fosters. The setting is amazing and historical and magical and it's only about 15 minutes from Heathrow! We stayed in one of the historical rooms and could not have been more comfortable. The most is from 500ad, it was the hunting lodge of Henry the viii and housed the mad King George! Very impressive! Even though there were weddings inside, we didn't see them or hear them and the hotel was super quiet and restful. The food was excellent and there were tons of gluten free options-- the gluten free bread was the best that my husband ever had! The food is all farm to table and was the best we ate in the U.K. The staff were all super friendly. Make sure to take the time to explore the gardens and surrounding area. read more

One of the most amazing places I've stayed. The facility is a hunting lodge, and has been upgraded to include all the necessary amenities to keep you feeling 1600's but with today's Class. An otherwise pleasant stay marred by a rude clerk at the end. There's a "Rosie" in every hotel, perhaps, but the really good hotels train them properly or let them go. We had a late night accommodation the night before due to a late flight, tired and hungry, and were told by the night clerk that we'd be able to check out late at 1:00 pm to give us a nice respite. How nice! However the day clerk, our dear "Rosie", called after 11:00 and was insistent we leave. ...forcing us to scramble out of our room to leave. No compromise, no accommodation, we were nothing short of "liars" in her mind, no benefit of the doubt, nothing in the system that backed us up...the 11:00 am policy stood pat. Too bad...staff can make or break a hotel...certainly NOT the Ritz Carlton treatment (if you've read the book, "Rosie" certainly hasn't....) So, rather than making a simple 30 minute or so adjustment, "Rosie" and her hotel policy must stand pat until the bitter end. Giving a willing return guest to "about face" and give a poor review. The manager tried to apologize, to make up for her callousness, but after overhearing "Rosie " cover her backside to the other staff attempting to make excuses to substantiate her treatment, we remained unconvinced of the apology...to little, to late. ...in the end, the guest is the "opponent" in her book and we should be treated accordingly. It's a shame. I would look elsewhere for your hotel accommodations...or else you'll be on her targeted list. read more
