BUTCHER SHOP- Worst haircut of my life!!! I started out by telling the girl I hated real short hair; that I did not want it short! She promised only 1/2" off, but chopped it off super short, and uneven to boot! Heed this warning and go someplace else! read more

If you dont know how to do short hair, how about you just dont do it? Instead of doing it and leaving me to cry in my car, and when I wake up and have to look at it again? How can someone not understand what it should look like after you show them an exact picture OF YOURSELF, they confirm long and choppy, and you leave me looking like mia farrow? Itll be months before I look normal. The layers arent even clean! And she left a rat tail in the back! This has to be karma for something. read more

Worst. Experience. Ever. I had to give one star because there was no option for zero stars. I took my 8 year old son in for a cut before we went out of town for Christmas. He had been growing his hair out and was looking for a longer style than he has gotten previously. I told this to the hairdresser and asked whatever she did, please not use clippers, just the scissors- and literally the FIRST THING SHE DID was get out the clippers and just started hacking away. I almost cried and asked her if she couldn't have done a cut with just scissors as I requested. She scoffed and asked if I had enough time to be there all day. I was baffled. She proceeded to give me son the worst cut of his life. My 4 year old could have hacked the exact same cut with safety scissors. Truly a terrible stylist (and just plain rude person). read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would. This used to be good but with the new employees it has changed for the worst. I went in for a dry cut. Lourdes told me blow drying costs $1 a minute. I asked her if she could blow dry it for 10 minutes then. She blow dried my hair for 5 minutes because she did not shampoo my hair, my hair was not wet. I said okay that must be $5 then right? She said yes. After she cut my hair, she told the cashier to charge me for a $25 style that I did not receive. This place is completely unprofessional, rule #1 Do Not LIE to your customer. This place has terrible customer service, the manager wasn't there today. Maybe that's why both Lourdes and the cashier's mother (who is another "stylist" here) decided to be careless today. The cashier's mother made me wait 20 minutes to pay for my hair cut while she was trying to reach her manager on the phone. Ugh! Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else for your hair cut. Now I have a headache and a bad hair cut. read more

This place is a joke. After calling a day in advance for my daughter to get her hair washed and blown out for her 8th grade promotion, my wife shows up and Lourdes starts to lecture her on how she should have called to make an appointment. My wife told her she did call, but Lourdes didn't believe that. There was no one waiting and two in chairs with two people doing hair. They refused to do my daughters hair and treated my wife like crap. I don't know how this place can stay in business with crappy customer service and such bad attitudes show by their employees. My wife was willing to pay 75 dollars for my daughters hair and they settle for a couple 25 dollar trims?? I highly recommend to avoid this place at all cost. read more

I'm gonna have to say I was a little leary about coming into great clips. see I'm a hairdresser myself and until I broke my arm I would cut my own hair. and being a hairdresser I'm very very picky about who cuts my hair. But to my surprise Melissa at great clips ventura cut my hair better than any other stylist I've graced with the opportunity to cut my hair. She is polite, skilled and does exactly what you ask for. I will be going to her as long as she will continue to cut my hair. She gets two thumbs up for me. Oh and by the way I get an undercut with a skin fade, with a shaved in part. Thanks Melissa your the best. read more

Haircuts are expensive. And as it should be, paying for someone's expertise to change and manage arguably one of the most important social aspects of your body. The hair cutting stylists here are very good at their job. There's also a nice online check in feature that allows you to skip the lines by checking in beforehand online. The best thing about Great Clips though is the fact that they will honor any competitors coupon. All you have to do is present it and they will cut your hair for the same price. This is very convenient when added to the fact that during each haircut the hair cutting stylist takes notes of what they did so they can give you the same haircut in following visits. They also have a day every year when they do everyone's haircuts for only $6.99! They however do not tell you what day this is. read more

I have patronized this business for years, but Jenny's rude behavior today means I will not be going back. As I was attempting to transfer my disabled brother to his stylist's chair, I made the mistake of setting my bag and his wheelchair footrests on the empty adjacent chair, which happened to be Jenny's. Instead of politely asking me to move the items -- or better yet, offering to help, since I was struggling -- she said in a rude tone, "those things can't stay there." I quickly moved the items, but even though I was clearly upset by her attitude, she offered no apology or made any effort to be nice to us. The stylist who cut my brother's hair, Hayley, was very friendly and professional. However, Jenny made me feel that disabled people are not welcome. I won't be going back. read more

So I've been coming to great Clips for a few years now with my wife, and it seems they changed owners and raised there prices, and none of my 2 favorite hairstylist maria and jessie are there anymore . And idk if the new owners are getting rid of their people or what's going on. And there's even a different vibe to the place. Not so welcoming as before and always seem to be a long wait. Not even the really nice receptionist that used to be up front is there so idk what the new owners are going for but there not getting my business anymore. Good thing I just read here on yelp that one of my hairstylist jessie is currently working at sport clips in Oxnard on the esplanade. So I'll definitely be going to sport clips to get a cut this weekend. read more

Lourdes always does a great job! I have followed her to several salons. Great Clips is reasonable for prices and cleanliness!

So, I come here often despite the bad haircuts. Checking in on line hardly works because they never acknowledge you when you arrive in the store and then they take people out of order in line. Then when you are finally next after they sort out how the use the computer, they take lunch breaks together. Quite poor service. Don't recommend going here unless you are desperate. read more

I really like this place. I've been getting my hair cut here the last couple of years and I will keep coming back. The staff are so nice and welcoming. When you walk in they ask for your phone number and they find you in the computer. If there is no one else waiting for a haircut they'll take you right away. Sometimes I have to wait but they have a T.V. and a bunch of magazines to look through as well as comfortable chairs to sit in. Every single person that has cut my hair has been so awesome- I think I've had a total of three or four different people and I would go to every single one of them again. Just because you're paying 15 dollars for a haircut instead of 45 and up doesn't mean you're not going to get a very skillful hairstylist who can help you and give you great advice about your hair. I couldn't remember what haircut I had previously gotten but they told me based on my profile from my last visit. Laura is great- she gave my husband an awesome cut based on a picture I picked out. I got a basic haircut with some layers and I love it. You don't need to spend a bunch of money on a haircut to love it. Try this place out! read more

I was in desperate need of a haircut but really didn't want to pay upwards of $60, so I went to great clips. I have been once or twice in the past and I used to work at one many years ago, so I knew what to expect. When I walk in a woman nicely greets me and asks the routine questions and begins to input my information. Behind her another stylist is sitting in her chair on her phone. She takes me to her chair, I tell her I want some inches taken off but still want some length, then show her a picture of what I want. The picture is something that can reasonably be done with the hair I have, nothing impossible just some nice long layers. As she is cutting my hair the stylist next to her leans into her mirror and begins popping her zits. She finishes my hair, she's very nice the whole time, asks me how it is and I say it looks good. I didn't realize how much she had cut off, it was kind of like shell shock because I had long hair for so long, and it's hard to tell when wet. I'm not mad, there's no glueing hair back on, I'm just disappointed. My hair looks nothing like the picture I showed her, can't really tell there are layers. It's shorter than I wanted and now I have to wait for it to grow out so that I can go spend $60 to get what I wanted. It's just so disappointing to know that I will never walk out with a great hair style. From now on I'm only going when I need my ends trimmed, because you can't mess that up. read more

Always a good cut, friendly staff, if there's a wait it moves along well and upon check in time estimate is pretty accurate. Products are good and somewhat reasonable with pricing. Have noticed product sales and large quantity packaging which is priced reasonably. read more

My wife went in before Thanksgiving to get her hair done. Knowing she wanted a perm done she looked on line to see if she needed to book an appointment. The web site did not say she needed one but because she knew it takes longer to do a perm she called the store and the worker stated "no just come on in and come early so we have time to do it" so my wife went in on a Saturday when the store opened and the workers were pissed that she did not make an appointment. The so called manager unwilling did the perm anyway. My wife followed the instructions of the worker and the perm did not take so she called them and now all she gets is the runaround. She has emailed the corp. office and still nothing is done bad hair, bad experience and no refund. They did not even try to fix it what a joke! DO NOT wast your money here! If I could give no stars I would! read more

First time visiting this location and I'll definitely be back! Yesenia did a great job cutting my hair. I'm a black woman with natural hair and although I straighten my hair for cuts, most stylists just cut the ends. But Yesenia really took the time to cut all of my hair to balance it out without cutting it all off. She also understood not to blunt cut my hair and gave it great shape. It was a bit of a wait so this location gets the business, but it was with the wait. read more

I found this place while looking for someone who really knew how to cut curly hair but was reasonably priced... and I have not been disappointed! I have been going here almost a year now every 6 weeks or so (I have a very short style that I want to keep very short to reduce my serious curl issues). I have seen three stylists at this location and they have all been good. I am very happy that I found this place - they really seem to listen to me and they really seem to know what they are doing. I am usually very happy with how my hair has been cut. read more

Since my regular stylist at Pin Ups Hair Design was totally booked for the day I thought that I would try this place, especially since it was so cheap. As soon as I walked in I got a bad vibe. The girl at the front was like a robot. Non-conversational, extremely dry, & not able to answer basic questions truthfully such as "wait time". The room was packed with people and she kept telling everyone 5 mins. The place was definitely not a welcoming environment. Since I didn't want to also have a chopped head I decided to leave. Id rather wait for my regular stylist than risk a bad haircut. You might love it, but it's definitely not for me. read more

I used to love this place but with a change in ownership it was not a change for the better. One of the reasons you go to one of these walk in chains is because they are cheaper. But when they charge me $55 not including tip, to shampoo and blow out my hair than forget it. Not even a cut. And I was told if I wanted her to use a round brush it would be $10 extra. That would have been $65! I went to a nice salon where I got juice a great massage shampoo style cut blow dry with whatever brush they needed to use and wasn't treated like I was taking up too much of their time. I paid $75 including tip. So so long great clips. Your new management has made a big mistake and is running off good customers. read more

I've been here 3 or 4 times now and I always walk away a happy customer. All women who have cut my hair are super nice, ask what I want/looking for, and do a great job! The price is super reasonable too, $18, so I tip $5. Love this place, thank you ladies!!! read more

For a year under new ownership, I feel the quality of this establishment has decreased drastically. With new management has improperly staffed the salon with two stylists most of the time creating long wait times and new stylists that have no business cutting hair professionally. Unfortunately Manny and margarita , their two long time stylists decided to leave due to the toxic conditions present at this salon. Luckily margarita has gone to a "sports themed" salon in oxnard. Called to see if Lilly was working today only to find out that she also left! I had only two previously cut sessions with her and was very pleased with the way she cut my hair. She was very pleasant, did a decent haircut on me, but to be honest Lilly did the best on my hair. read more

I used to get my haircut at various shops around town and then I got a coupon for Great Clips and I have been very happy to stay there ever since. Three things set Great Clips apart: 1. Consistently great haircuts. I always get a very good haircut here no matter who I get it from. I'm told that's because they hire people with several years of experience and it definitely shows. Never had a bad haircut here. 2. The staff turnover is extremely low- you'll see the same stylist for years. I'm very impressed that Min, Manuel, and several others have been there 3+ years. That may be common at designer salons but not at a hair cutting place with prices around $15-$20! This means that they'll learn what you like (they always record what they do in the system anyway) and you can develop a rapport and trust in them. 3. The prices - is Supercuts pricing for a fast but very good haircut. AND they take others' coupons as long as they are Ventura county and not expired. I consistently am impressed with the quality of the haircut, especially for the money. Overall, I highly recommend it. Ask for Manuel if he's there. He's my favorite and I ask for him by name every time. Oh, and did I mention online check in? That means you don't wait once you get there. Go get your hair cut now! read more

I use to see Jenny she was great but since she is no longer there I tried another girl that's been there for about 8 mths Melinda. I was a little hesitant about going so short but showed her a picture of the cut I wanted. I was very happy with my cut. Melinda is a perfectionist when cutting and is a awesome stylist. I am very picky when it comes to getting my haircut and she did exactly the style and cut I wanted. Thank you Melinda your awesome just don't go any place for awhile now that I found you as my stylist it's hard finding one that does what you want. Looking forward on seeing you again. read more

My favorite hair specialist is Lilly. Every time I pass by to ask for Lilly, the staff is generally cranky and asks my why someone else won't do. "Because, Lily does a great job and I'll wait for her. Thank you." My comment is usually followed by eye rolls and an impertinent dismissal. I wouldn't bring this up if it had happened just once, but as of yesterday, three times in a row. Last week I called to to see if Lilly was in and was told she was out sick. The third time I called they said she would be in on Friday. I passed by on Friday and was rudely told, "She's not here." I mentioned that I had called and been told she would be in on Friday. Then, in about as rude a tone as you can muster a blonde answered, "We have no control over her health." I just stared at her. The rest of them (three on duty) huffed and replied we don't know when she'll be back. I mumbled, "Such a sweet group." and left. I have no idea why they are so mean at this shop, or why they are not supportive of customers and another co-worker, and I am sad that they behaved like jerks. I am doubly sad for Lilly, because she is a bright, pleasant, talented hairdresser and I will miss her very much. She brightens the place like a light. read more

Went in to quickly get my hair cut and only had to wait five minutes. Hooray for that! What unfolded after sitting down can only be described as awkward. My stylist did an awesome job on my hair while I counseled her on her children and validated her experiences as a mother. Thank god for graduate school! The only downside to this was that I ended up paying 16 bucks to make her comfortable and validate her experiences. In hindsight I should have just left as she received 60 bucks worth of therapy for free.. read more

I went to this place yesterday to get my haircut. My hair was to the middle of my back and I told the lady to cut 2" off well she cut like 5" off. I asked for bangs that frame my face nope she cut them straight across. Very dissatisfied with hair cut. Worst haircut of my life & Terrible customer service with zero accountability. I knew something was wrong when the stylist persisted on the back of my hair line not ONCE, not TWICE, but THREE times... I sat there politely with benefit of a doubt until she showed me the final finish. I know exactly what my hair looks like after a haircut been styling it the same exact way for 15 years. I pointed out that the back was cut VERY high, much more than normal (clearly done in her THREE efforts to line it up squarely). What makes me the most irritated is that there was zero ownership of her mistake and proceeded to make me feel as if I was in the wrong. Let me tell you, I'm the one who has to live with this terrible haircut, I'm the one who knows exactly where my hair line ends and have the stubble on my head to prove where "my hairline ends". Disgusting customer service in a business that thrives on customer loyalty. read more
