Have been a customer at this location for several years. Went in for a cut recently. My stylist spent the entire time bad mouthing Trump and ICE activity in Minneapolis during my haircut. Extremely unprofessional. At first I made an attempt to let him know I had a different opinion and to please change the subject... he didn't. He then compared what's going on in the US to what happened in Germany during the 1940's. Shameful! Great Clips lost a customer! read more

I continue to go there because of its convenience. Check-in helps, but it's confusing to be asked to 'check-in' ahead of time, and 'check-in' upon arrival. The first step should be called 'register' and the second 'check-in'. That said, the biggest issue with this "7-minute hair cut" shop is that its personality changes with each visit. The stylist turnover constantly, and some individuals are quite good while others are not personable. It's a bit weird. read more

Do not go here or stay away from Wendy. She does not know what she is doing and should not be cutting hair. My son went to the in Venice Village Shoppes across from Walmart instead of the one we normally go to by Pinebrook because the wait time was shorter. Well...after he came home we now know why the wait time is shorter. Wendy didn't even cut the entire left side of his hair. Nothing was blended. There were different hair lengths on top...like an entire section left long. He said the entire experience was awful. That she seemed way more preoccupied with other things and didn't want to be cutting hair today. It showed. This was the worst hair cut I've even seen. I took him to the other location on Pinebrook and those ladies are amazing. Not only did they finish the haircut and made him look great, they didn't charge us. Moral of the story: go to the one with a wait...there is a reason everyone is going there. Because they love what they do and actually do a good job. read more

I'm HIGHLY disappointed. I decided to come in to get a quick haircut since I'm on vacation and really needed a trim. We arrive as I was with another getting a haircut. The lady who calls me to cut my hair looks at me and gives me a look of disgust before we get back to the chair she tells me you are going to have to brush that. My hair is frizzy, not matted or tangled. She asks if I want conditioner and I say sure, within 2 mins of brushing my own hair it was fine. She even commented "wow that was fast". As a former cosmetologist I WOULD NEVER ask my client to brush their hair, regardless of how matted or tangled their hair was. She then asks me what I want. I came in with my hair about waist length, my hair is also naturally curly so it frizzes in the humidity. I asked for below the shoulder, long layers and some nice face framing. She proceeded to cut my hair to above my shoulders, my face framing looks like freaking bangs. It's horrible and I cried when I left. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. She was coughing all over me, walked away during the middle of the service, proceeded to be negative the entire service about how I was acting as a client, telling me I was messing her up. What a JOKE! my hair cut is embarrassing and not at all what I asked for she even told me I looked old when I walked in and now I look like a child. IM 27 years old. WENDY WAS HORRIBLE and needs proper training on how to be professional. She also clearly doesn't know how to cut curly hair, super disappointed. read more

I just had the best haircut I ever experienced in America. I had my haircut done by Matt, who has a beard and wears a barbers apron. I asked for a medium fade all the way to skin just like I used when I was in the Army. He used four different ways to cut my hair and took care of all the pesky fuzzies on my head. If you were or are still in the military and live in the Venice area, who still likes getting a high and tight or a medium fade, Matt is your men. Very impressived by his work. read more

If you go to Great Clips, be sure to have them know you are there. I didn't and no one asked if I had an appointment. I had made an appointment on line but apparently did something wrong. When finally there was no one waiting except me and a man who came in after me without an appointment and was given one, the stylist asked me if I had an appointment. Turns out my appointment never registered. She entered my name in the computer and then took the man who came in after me. I assumed that was because his name had been entered before mine. But then two more customers came in and they were both taken ahead of me, probably had booked ahead, but still, they couldn't have taken me? I was left sitting there, alone. I felt like I was being punished. I left and will not return. read more

So I went into great clips in Venice across from Walmart. The whole vibe upon entering there was not inviting. I asked for a haircut. The girl was very judgemental and just plain Ole mean spirited. So she continued to tell me that I had fine dead hair. I said yes fine and thick. She had a snide remark. I personally would never recommend this place to anyone. I certainly will never be bk. If I could give this place no stars, I would!!! Countless times this place has screwed up my husband's hair! Never failed, regardless of which person was cutting his hair. None of them know anything but a military buzz cut. My husband is TO NICE and kept giving them a chance until the last one sealed the deal. He asked for a fade and nothing off the top, showed her pics from a previous cut he had in Indy, she took the clippers out and swoop cut off the top! 1st thing she did was scalp the top! He goes uh what are you doing? Her excuse I must of misunderstood??? To late now since I did the top I have to finish it... One positive, my husband has finally stopped going. I took my grandson to Great clips today because it is where I took him 8 weeks ago for a trim. upon entering, I noticed 2 men without masks! When I questioned the staff regarding this, they indicated the men told her they had medical conditions. I call BS, one of the men was just waiting for the other getting his hair cut. I am only coming to your facility because you state masks are mandatory! I will not be back. Listen to the CDC, there is no medical condition that would exempt anyone from wearing a mask. read more

I just got a GREAT little haircut from Amanda! I pointed to the poster on the wall for a reference and left looking just as good (though very much older than the poster!) After I washed and styled my hair at home I really wanted to give Great Clips a good review. The price is great, the service is friendly and efficient and it seemed to be doing a brisk business. Very unhappy with haircut I received yesterday in Venice. I have an angled bob haircut. Needed a trim in the back. Disappointed that the stylist blunt cut it and did not even try to conform the trim with the angled bob. When I got home I couldn't believe how it looked from the side!! I had to cut my angle bob to a blunt cut to go with the blunt trim he gave me in the back! Now it will take months until my hair grows to a length where I can get another angled bob cut! Will never go to another great clips again as long as I live!!!!! read more

I have been bringing my 3 kids here since they opened. Have never had trouble until today. Walked in and two out of 4 stylists were visibly pissed off. My 80 yr old mother was with one of them. We were trying to describe what she wanted and the stylist didn't like what we were saying. My mother asked her to be a little nicer and she walked off. Leaving her sitting there. Another stylist stepped in and finished her up. This didn't need to happen and when you are in the service industry you have got to put up with all sorts of people, I get it. But to throw a tantrum at an 80 yr old lady is not acceptable. Maybe shots of tequila in the back room would help? read more

GREAT CLIPS Venice Commons (Next to Publix) 1435 E Venice Ave FL THEY ARE NOT SO GREAT!!! GRRRRRR #DON'TMAKEAMOMMAMAD My 17 year old son, who is autistic, goes to the salon for a wash and blow dry. He pays for it with his own money from is one day a week job. they have always charged him $5. Today he went in for the wash and blow dry and after my husband completed grocery shopping he went to pick him up and our son was under a hair dryer. My husband asked why he was under a dryer and didn't get a low dry (he has long hair). First the female stylist said that they have gotten flack from corporate for taking so too much time drying his hair. Then the man behind the counter said they were going to charge him for a wash and style, an additional $24! My husband said that they couldn't do that and they stated that our son never tips and they aren't going to waste their time on him. I am livid!! My husband and I both love this place! We sign in online then leave the house and drive there. Never a long wait and everyone of the stylists we have had gave good haircuts. I have naturally curly hair and it has been no problem for them. Can't beat the price if you purchase a pre-paid card for $9.95 a cut...put as many as you wish on the card. Otherwise $13 is not a bad deal for the regular price. read more

My daughter went to get her waist length hair *trimmed*. She asked for an inch off the length, and she came home with at least six inches gone - it's now sitting just below her shoulders. She wasn't asked about taking extra off, and wasn't aware of it because it was all going on behind her. We are both so upset and angry, and neither of us will use this salon again. read more

I went in today for a haircut, really a trim, before pictures next week. I was assigned Andria. I walked in with an angled bob with no layers in the front or sides and the front was longer than my shoulders when straight. I told Andria I wanted the back cut and then reshaped into the same cut I have and not to cut any length off the front. I have no idea what this cut is that I left with. The entire thing is layered and the front is barely longer than my chin. I'm missing a good 8 inches of hair in the front and sides. I was so shocked I didn't even know what or how to say anything and just said thanks and left. However I feel I'll have to call a manager today because she should definitely been trained how to cut an angle bob, they've been around forever. There's no way I can get pictures with this monstrosity. I don't know what's more worrisome that she thought this is the same haircut or she had no clue cutting off eight inches was keeping the length!! Went to Great Clips on Tamiami and got what I thought was the worst haircut of my life thanks to Jean. I was wrong. I went to Great Clips on Venice Avenue and got scalped. I hardly have an inch of hair anywhere and my hair is very fine and thin. Renee cut my hair so short it sticks right up in the air. Hideous and horrible haircut. I don't even like to go to the grocery store to run into anyone. I am basically stuck at home for a couple of months until this grows an inch or so.
