I went here to great clips in Springfield and asked for a low taper and they gave me a buzz with no fade. I asked for no hair off the top and they cut like all off my hair off. My lady said that she didn't know what a low taper fade was and just gave me a buzz. Overheard a conversation while waiting my turn. In case they don't post it, I found it baffling and annoying. If I were them, I'd complain to corporate. Long story short, the staff had problems with the electronic system, couldn't figure out how to apply gift cards and they ended up paying out of pocket. Didn't know they sold gift cards but definitely won't buy any after hearing the staff was helpless/useless in applying them. That's a problem they need to figure out. Reviewed a terrible experience at Great Clips recently BUT when I made the manager aware of the problem, she brought me back in and fixed the horrible cut. She was very apologetic specially when she saw what I had been living with for two days. My lovely boyfriend has loved this Great Clips for years, however today resulted in something that not only completely baffled me, but also only resulted in a 50% off discount for this one haircut. My boyfriend says the woman (he doesn't not remember her name), claimed that the clippers were "fine for the 70ish haircuts before," and accidentally cut my boyfriends scalp. That is 100% understandable, accidents happen and we all have been there before. However, you would think that after this, she would switch clippers and continue on with the haircut with another pair, and with extra ease and caution. As you can see from the photos below, this was not the case. The back of his neck and sides of his face are scratched up, his scalp is cut in multiple spots. By nature, my boyfriend is too nice to say anything. We are not upset about the fact that his head is scratched up, but for the lack of professionalism demonstrated. I've been here a few times and, overall, haven't had the best experiences. The real reason why I get my hair cut here is because it's close by - not for any specific stylist. Frankly, all I've ever seen when I walk in here is semi-depressed looking people. No, not the customers, the workers. That's with the exception of only one woman which of whom I don't know the name of that is very bubbly, seems nice, and actually knows what she's doing. On top of that, they don't have any one person manning the register so people sometimes fight over who was waiting longer since no one was able to put anyone in the system for their waiting Iist. I must say, though, that I've had a FEW stylists who have made my hair exactly how I wanted. But that shouldn't be as hard as they make it for a simple pixie cut. read more

This is a chain, but a good place for a haircut. The people are always very friendly and talkative, and the haircuts are good, at least for easy hair like mine. They ask for your phone number, but don't worry- they won't call you, they just save any information about how to cut your hair and associate it with the number. That way, the next time you come in you don't have to explain what you want! For someone who lacks hair vocabulary, it's a big help. The only problem is that they will brush your neck with A LOT of baby powder without asking you- you must let them know if you don't want that much. Walking there from Swarthmore is not the most pleasant, as you have to cross Baltimore Pike. read more

I went for a simple trim and to clean up my angles that had grown out and came out with side bangs. I audibly gasped when she cut the majority of my front hair into side bangs at one length. She simply responded with, "That's what you asked for sorry." There was no remorse and even worse, there was no way to fix the damage she had done. Now, I have to pay another salon to fix the odd haircut I received when all I wanted was a half inch trim. I will NEVER return to this place based on their work and their attitudes. Worst experience ever! Went here to get my daughter's haircut. We just moved to the area. The lady was so rude told my husband she would just cut my daughter's hair all off. My daughter is a 8 year old, who does get tangles easily. She had a few knots in her hair but nothing a little brushing would not have taken care of. This lady made my daughter cry and said some really hurtful things. My husband did not get her name unfortunately, but it happened today January 2. I would never suggest anyone go here unless you like being insulted. Wish I could give zero stars. I've gone to this place the last few haircuts and i can't do it anymore. They're very inconsistent. I get the same haircut every time and they always find a way to screw it up. Been getting my haircut here for over a year now since moving here. I get my hair cut at least once a month due to me being in the military. I've had some fucked up haircuts in my past but this place keeps on getting worse and worse I swear they will hire anyone to cut hair! I just got my haircut today by a lady named Christian. I asked for a zero fade from the side of my head all the way down! And to blend my hair from the middle up. Well she cut my hair with a zero all the way up to the top of my head and on top of that, the fade line looked like a 2 year old went loose with a pencil on the back of my head. I asked if she could fix the line and she said oh it just looks like that because of the light. Worst haircut I've had my whole entire life. Plus she proceed to cut the top of my hair after I said no and she said well I have to blend it! She didn't even listen to what I wanted. Which makes me more upset because now I have to wear something on my head for the next 2 weeks to cover up the fucked up haircut I received! Terrible. Checked in online and it said 0 wait time. Got there about 5 minutes later and I was somehow 7th in the queue with a 35 minute wait time. They also took someone lower on the queue ahead of me. Someone even said something and they still took him ahead of his place in the queue. The stylist I had didn't listen to me at all and cut layers into my hair despite me saying not to. And cut more off than I asked for. You get what you pay for I guess but that wasn't even worth $16. They butchered my son. My 11 year old son has the easiest hair ever. Seriously I have 3 kids and this one is a no-brainer which is why I allow my husband to take him to Great Clips. Yes that's a loaded statement but all he needs is a buzz. Seriously. We have never had a problem getting him a decent buzz cut. Well.... not only did they use the wrong setting (a 1 vs a 2) but the neck line was completely crooked and they completely shaved bald his forehead line which again was crooked right across the front of his head. It is the craziest thing I ever saw. My son was in tears before he even left Great Clips and no one said anything (yes including my husband who paid and tipped for this atrocity.) I was heartbroken for my son when he returned. I have photos but will not post them in public. If anyone from Great Clips wanted to contact me I would be happy to share with you directly. I'm appalled at the horrible cut. I can't imagine the person who did this was even a licensed professional. Luckily his hair grows fast and he is easy to forget. We will head to a seasoned professional stylist next time and pay more for a cut. I would think twice before entrusting your hair to anyone at a Great Clips especially this one in Springfield. read more

This review is from a couple months ago and I forgot to post it until I had a good haircut experience this past weekend. I took my 8 year old son to Great Clips in Springfield near Panera. I had been there before and it was fine. This time however, I asked for just a little trim for his hair (he likes it a bit longer) and, in the end, I had to remove him from the chair to get them to stop cutting. The first person who tried to cut his hair did not know what she was doing. So an older woman stepped in and said she was going to use this as a teaching opportunity. 1. My kid's hair should not be used as a learning opportunity; 2. If you are employing someone to cut hair, they should already have the necessary training; 3. If I have to pull my kid out of the chair after telling you multiple times to stop cutting my kids hair, you should not own a business. I would NOT recommend this place. We will never go back there and you should stay far away. read more

My son went to great clips in Springfield, PA, as he usually does, but this time he was very dissatisfied due to the butchering he received from the stylist. We told him that if he was going to be butchered like that he was better off going to Roy Tweedy's ( which is a real butcher shop). I'm not sure if it was because he was a teenager, or for the fact that he use the coupon that was mailed to us, but either way they did a horrible job, and it costs more to fix his hair the way it should have been done in the first place. My husband called the salon upon my sons return, to see if we could resolve the situation, but of course we never received a response. No call back from any manager, or any apologies whatsoever. I would highly advise that no one go to great clips in Springfield until they get their act together! As for us, we are a large family and we go there a lot, but will never step foot in that place again! read more
