I had stopped going to Great Clips for a while and had been using an expensive, professional stylist in a salon. After getting tired of spending so much money on my hair (that is rapidly disappearing), I went back to Great Clips. I have to admit that I don't see that any difference when I go and get my hair cut short than I do when spending $50 for a hair cut. I'm pleased with their stylists and the work they do. After being waved off by some new employee at Great Clips Remington Plaza, I called and spoke to Anna. She informed me that they released that employee after so many complaints came in. Anna was very professional, courteous and apologetic about the bad experience. I did go back to give them another chance and Anna did a beautiful job cutting my hair. The manager should reward Anna for working hard to convince me that, it is not their standard to wave people off, but rather to give good quality service to people. Thank you Anna! read more

I visited their website to book an appointment but it simply said check-ins were unavailable. I figured their system was having technical problems and headed towards the store to walk-in. When I arrived, the store was closed due to short staffing. There was ZERO indication on their website that the location was closed today. I would've been perfectly fine waiting 15-20 minutes for my haircut to start (the next Great Clips is 12 minutes away anyways). But if you're not even going to give me that choice, then you don't get my business. Being short staffed isn't an excuse for closing business (coming from a fellow operations manager). read more

It's quite a challenge to find that 'guru' when it comes to getting your style right. Truth be told, I never imagined finding one at a Great Clips - then I met Joe. Joe and his colleagues offer something far more than great haircuts - they give impeccable service. They are remarkably kind, flexible and very hospitable. I've been here a couple of times to this location. I like that I can check in on line and also check the wait times. It is handy that they keep my info stored in the system so the next stylist knows how I like it. Oh my god. First of all not a pleasing welcome at all, did not make me feel like I could cut them with my hair but I wasn't gonna let that stop me as I wanted a mid fade haircut. After 30 minutes of waiting i finally sit down with a great idea and a simple haircut photograph. The lady says "I can't do that" and when I questioned why she said I just can't. I was already disappointed and she starts cutting my hair, which ended up being the worst haircut I've ever gotten at a barbershop. Hear this I asked for a simple lining. She says I can't do thar either as " IM NOT A BARBER" and refused to do anything about it. Literally left the place disappointed, unwelcomed and felt like I gave my money to the worst place to cut my hair. I'll never come back here as my hair literally looks the exact same. read more

The stylist that cut my hair here did a really good job. I don't think she let me know that she cut my hair in a V-shape at the bottom though because when I went to my following cut, I was really kind of surprised that she had cut it that way and I would've said, I'm sure, that I wanted it cut straight across at the bottom. I'm not hugely conscious of how my hair looks in the back I guess. Otherwise, the layers she cut in my hair and her friendliness and professionalism made it a great experience, at Great Clips. Horrible! I usually don't post but this business needs to be avoided. Went to this location based on a coupon from their website. They refused to accept the coupon and said oh we forgot to put our notice up indicating that we are not accepting this coupon. I asked how this is the consumers fault but they kept interrupting me and refused to let me speak to a manager. Asked for the managers number and they refused. Gave me the managers name and said we can't do anything else. Avoid... Very rude- horrible customer service- never again! read more

Do not recommend! i specificlally said, i have a big meeting tomorrow.. hence came for a haircut to look presentable. Yet, she messed up my hair terribly! - bad customer service - my sylist had so much attitude.. she cut patches of hair.. then tried to fix it.. which is not possible any more. - removed my side burns ... then says, it ok, it will grow back in couple of days. - looks like they do not care for the customer... yet demanded Tip.. she asked... should i round the credit card charge to some amount? I just got the worst haircut from an incompetent blonde old lady who sits at the far right end side. She has no reason to be cutting hair at all, her customer service skills are practically non-existent. You'll know that she do not want to be there at all and her job is just to straight up cut hair with scissors. Worst haircut in a long time. You get what you pay for. Checked in online which was convenient. Still had to wait when I got there though. Older lady cut my hair, and did a really bad job. Sides are uneven, and did a bad job around my ears. Also seemed rushed, as other people were getting their hair cut when there, that were not done when I was. DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION! I've been to high-class salons, private stylists who work out of their homes, and cheap salons. I truly believe it's mostly about the stylist that makes the difference. Some of the stylists at the expensive salons were ok, but the stylist who I got at this Great Clips location is totally great. Her name is Gina. She took the extra time to give me a great cut and explain what she was doing and why. All I wanted was a simple trim and in the process, I explained I have a lot of split ends, not just at the ends of my hair. She suggested using a technique in which she twirls small sections of hair and then trims flyaways that stick out; this gets the split ends off from top to bottom of most strands. She explained that over time, if I continue to have this done to my hair, I will see less and less split ends. I am so grateful she told me about this and will continue to have Gina cut my hair. Once, I went to another Great Clips and figured all the locations would know about this technique, but the girl who cut my hair at the other location (also in Schuamburg) almost seemed to pretend she knew what she was doing and spent maybe two minutes cutting my hair. On top of that, she cut off way too much when I asked for a simple trim, about a half inch. (Guess I should have saved that ranting for another yelp review for that location, but I just wanted to compare and show that the stylist is what makes the difference.) Gina even honored a coupon I had and mentioned that Great Clips accept expired coupons for up to a year! A totally great value. It's nice that cuts are so cheap here because then I can easily give a very generous tip to a stylist who deserves it. I felt very comfortable both times Gina cut my hair and I plan on continuing to go back to her every six weeks. =) read more

Be careful for men's/boys haircuts. They did a terrible job on my son's hair. Crooked lines in the back I had to have her fix and she basically buzzed a step into one side of his head. Not to mention I asked for a trim on top and she took more than half the length from the top of his head. read more

The people are nice enough. But they are under scheduled and take smoke breaks in between each customer. I shouldn't have to wait an hour for a quick trim. You're busiest evenings and weekends staff appropriately. Will not return. read more
