My usual Great Clips in Gettysburg is chronically understaffed. I was leaving on a business trip to Philadelphia and wait time in Gettysburg was 82 minutes. Which means almost two hours in reality. So I drove to my hotel in Collegeville and searched for the nearest salon of any sort, since it was almost 7 pm. This Great Clips was open. No wait. Three stylists still working at 6:45 pm! They let me use their restroom. It was spotless. That alone earned them an extra star. Phelicia cut my hair. Not only did I get a good haircut, but she made me relax and breathe. Tina is probably my favorite(she's got the cool hair that she cuts herself), but I've never had a bad cut here. Just went there for my boys haircut and I was asking that she cuts a LINE and what we got a line about 1 inch wide! Basically a big hole!!!! I said what did you do????? She said that is a line and she knows what she is doing! Clearly not a line, looks like a giant hole. All in all a horrible haircut and she clearly does not know what she is doing. But what made we really angry, instead of apologizing on my way out she was calling me nasty and I should not come back. Horrible, horrible experience. NOT GREAT AT ALL. Went here this past Friday afternoon. My usual place didn't have any availabilities until later, but I wanted to get a fresh cut for a wedding I was going to that evening that would still give me enough time to get ready. Luckily, or unluckily in hindsight, they were able to take me right away. The girl that checked me in was friendly enough, but the hairstylist I was given, De, was not. Usually stylists like to chat you up, but it was pretty much dead silent unless I was the one that started the conversation. At first I had told her I just wanted my layers cleaned up and length shortened a bit. After trimming it up, I saw that I still wanted it to be a little bit shorter. It seemed like she didn't try to put as much care into it the 2nd time when I asked her to do it again. Shampooing my hair, she had gotten water in my eye and didn't even say sorry. When she was drying my hair, she was only using her fingers and a flat comb, so I asked her if she could use a round brush instead. She said if she did that it would be an extra charge, so I just said forget about it then. At the register, it seemed like an unusually long time to punch in a cut and shampoo. She ran away from the register, which I thought was really strange, after giving me my change and receipt so I didn't have the opportunity to leave a tip. Upon checking my receipt when I got home, I saw that I was charged for a 'regular style'. Called the store to find out what that was and the girl that answered, Katie (who was also a manager) said it usually included a flat iron and round brush usage. I said that none of that was used, so she told me to come in to get a refund. Along with my $20 refund that the "stylist" De took as a tip for herself, I was also given a certificate for a free haircut. Despite this gesture, I'm never going back to this location due to this terrible experience! read more

Took my 5 year old twins for cuts yesterday and was fine about the cuts they received, BUT the stylist? I was told 10 minutes, which is fine that it was more like 15, however, the one stylist that did one of my sons' hair decided to chat with her very attractive customer at the register for 10 MINUTES!! Other stylists who were in the middle of cuts had to check people in and answer the phone. I couldn't believe how obnoxious she was and was not happy she was assigned one of my kids. She was very bossy and curt with him, which pissed me off beyond belief. He also asked, very politely if he could be "spiky". She said, again, very snotty "it's the PRODUCT that spikes it, not the cut". I had to mention that he wasn't a moron and that putting in product was fine. And yes, I'm calling her out... JEN. I had to ask the other girl who cut my other kids' hair who she was. I hope the manager reads this and addresses her unprofessional behavior. I have 4 kids and could bring a lot of clients to this place, but not now! read more

I love this place. For one, you can get a haircut for pretty cheap ($13) and if you have a coupon, it might be even cheaper ($7.99!) I have never had a problem with any of the ladies that have cut my hair here. (Not being sexist - I haven't had a guy cut my hair here, yet. I'll change my review if I do!) The longest wait I've had is maybe 10 minutes. You can check-in online before you come if you think there might be a long wait. I definitely recommend this place! read more

Due to my normal place being too busy, and being in a rush, I swung by GC in Oaks (near the Lowe's). New GC customer, they took some info, and i waited for maybe 10min. Dee (?) was able to get me in and seated quickly. She asked a few standard questions about preference and went to work. I'm not all that picky about my hair...pretty easy "guy" cut, and she did exactly what I asked. Quick, efficient, not distracted, and not too much conversion. (the last 2 issues typically bother me as (1) I'm not there to "chat", and (2) distractions while someone uses sharp objects near my head causes legitimate concern for me at least) Overall, quality job, reasonable price, pleasant environment and overall satisfying experience. I may just "change up" my normal place and stick with Dee from now on! 4/5 stars...no reason for this aside from my personal feeling that nobody or place is ever "perfect". read more

This review is luckily getting one star because otherwise I can't write the review. Tina was my boyfriend's stylist and she was awful. I went with him this time because he has a hard time communicating what he wants done. I brought in several pictures with me and I went through them with Tina and made it very clear that we wanted a fade, not an undercut. We also wanted to keep his hair pretty long so I told her to not cut any off on top and to keep it a long fade. She started chopping off all his hair and my jaw hit the floor. She noticed and turned around and asked what was wrong. I told her she was cutting off WAY too much but by that point it was too late. She had to just keep going and make it look decent. Then, my boyfriend didn't like the way she was cutting the sides above his ears and asked her to thin it out right above his ears so it didn't look puffy and she started taking more off the top. I finally just said it looks good let's go because I didn't want her to cut any more. We will definitely NOT be going back to Tina nor that Great Clips again. read more

My grandson and I both had haircuts here. My short hair is an easy style - nothing fancy. My hair on one entire side of my head is an inch or so shorter than the hair on the other side. No way to fix until it grows in. My little grandson's hair is a disgrace. It looks like a child took a scissors and just chopped everywhere. The back is not blended in and looks "clumpy" at the hairline , and the front at his hairline is scalped looking and extremely uneven. No way to straighten this out since his whole head is full of uneven cutting. The price here is low but the quality is really very poor. read more

I had my hair cut in Oaks, PA last week and the woman took off double what I asked. She did nothing of what I wanted! VERY DISSAPPOINTED!!! I will NEVER go there again. Most of the women there are age 70 and do NOT know how to cut hair. Its not worth it!!!!! read more

I was nervous to go back to this location after I had an awful experience with one hair dresser. Not sure who it was but she was not a good stylist. I went back for a second chance and Nina was my stylist. She was so professional throughout my hair conditioning treatment and during my hair cut. She was helpful when talking about hair products to use instead of what I was using and she did so in a way that wasn't condescending and degrading like hair dressers usually are. It's been about two weeks since I saw her and the products she recommended me to use are working perfectly! My hair is amazingly soft and growing fast! ive been going to great clip for 4 year and i got a stylist named britney and stuck with her for 3 year. im an indian man with coarse thick hair. before britney cut my hair i got ok service. when i received a haircut from her she did an amazing job. she treated me with respect she took her time she was VERY patient with me . i have a strong accent and alot of the stylist struggle to communicate with me. britney made sure to take her time and made me feel comdortable . i come to great clip recently and i was informed by the new manager holly that she does not work there anymore. when i asked why she told me she was not aloud to tell me but they had my info and she could do it just like britney. i sat in the chair and kept asking if Britney was ok and she was very short and rude and nasty to me. i said NOTHING else throughout the cut and i notice that they have new people working there all time. why can't greatclip keep good staff? its probably that new boss . i would not work with her . i will NEVER go back to great clip. i will tell all my co-worker at SEI to not go there either. they run a bad business.
