After shampoo and conditioner, we went back to the chair for the blowout and style. I have bangs and tried to explain how I like them dried but the stylist didn't seem to comprehend. I have very thick hair so I was still having my hair dried by the time the appointment was supposed to be done. The stylist then took about 10 minutes to curl my hair (which felt rushed, since it normally takes people 20-30 minutes to get a proper curl in my very thick hair). She did ask if I would like product and hair spray in my hair which I agreed to. I left with some decent curls but they were completely flat 8 hours later, this is often what happens when my hair is rushed. This being said, my hair does has a solid "blow dried" appearance to it, with no frizz and a soft and silky look to it. Overall I don't feel it's worth the price if they're going to rush my thick hair but potentially nice for someone with normal to thin thickness.

Now let me give you a little bit of background information regarding my hair... I shaved my head in June. After 5 months of being in the "awkward" grow out phase, I had only gotten my hair trimmed once and unfortunately I was horribly disappointed with the end result. I have stick straight hair, but it is also very thick. So when it comes to doing a taper cut on the sides and back in order to even the regrowth out and clean things up, it requires a little extra care. Vanessa knew exactly what to do. I went into this appointment feeling somewhat apprehensive, but Vanessa put all of my fears to rest when I explained that I just wanted to even out the back and sides (which grow faster than the top, by the way). She took her time to create texture on the top of the hair without sacrificing much of the length, and she tapered the back and sides by hand, without using a buzzer. She even let me know that she didn't alter my natural hairline much, just shaped it up a tad and left it long so that I could continue growing it out. Cathleen at the front desk worked her magic and was able to squeeze me in. And I am here to tell you that I am not just happy, but THRILLED. Before scheduling my appointment, the folks at Mint asked loads of questions about my likes and dislikes, my hair type, and all sorts of other things. Based on my answers, they paired me with Danielle. And they hit the nail right on the head. After I'd scheduled, she texted me so she could see pictures of my hair now, get a sense of who I was, and more. I ended up getting my roots bleached and darkened to a dark brunette color (only at the scalp, not all over head, more like a partial highlight) and then a glaze put over my hair to complete the look. My girl had to glaze my hair 3x because it was not getting dark enough. I walked out with no caramel, no auburn and no definition. I spent nearly $183.00 for this service. I called and told them how unsatisfied I was. The next day when I washed my hair - nearly all the glaze washed out and I looked like Ronald McDonald - a nice orange. In all fairness, they offered to correct the color and stated they would put more glaze on it. I told them glaze was not going to get the results I wanted and had consulted 3 other hairstylists who stated glaze was not the answer. I needed a FULL HIGHLIGHT with low lights added as well. There was no other discussion or consultation with a stylist other than who was at the front desk - I was just relayed messages through the Front Desk. I asked about refund since they were not going to offer me anything than a glaze that had already not worked. They said they would only refund me $40 which is the cost of the glaze they thought would correct my hair. So I spent nearly $200 and got $40 back. I did not get what I asked for in the first place. Then I had to go spend another $200 to get my hair color fixed. Due to this poor experience, I had to cancel an appointment for a cut and go somewhere else to get my hair cut as well. I felt I paid high end prices for beginner color services. The Front Desk ladies were very courteous and polite. They apologized for my poor experience. Overall, I do not recommend, although my friend goes to Paige and gets a really sharp cut and color which looks awesome. Not putting my stylist on blast. If you decide to go to Mint and want a color that is complicated - ask for the most experienced colorist.
