Comically bad. I went in at 6:45 (they close at 7). Since they can't technically lock the front door, they hid in the back room (2 stylist) for a couple of minutes. I get the don't show up before a restaurant closes thing, but I can promise you my hair is a 10 minute job including cleaning up Stylist comes out finally. Me: can you get me in Her: if you want a buzz cut (deadpan) Me: ha ha, it's not much tougher than that I sit down where I'm pointed to I then proceed to get the roughest haircut I've received since basic training. Not exaggerating. She finishes. I knew the cut was over because the cape was unceremoniously ripped off. I payed, still tipped, and left. I asked the lady for a blunt cut halfway between my chin and my shoulder. I had my eyes closed because my eyes are super sensitive to bright lights, and she removed my prescription dark glasses. When I opened them, I said, "Holy crap, that's really short!" and she argued with me and said she gave me what I asked for. Then, adding insult to injury, since she had made me look like a quintessential old lady, she charged the senior rate, even though I am not yet that old... Great Clips - Missing a couple of inches! - Hair Salons Near Me - Murrells Inlet, South Carolina

On vacation; decided to get a shape-up/trim. I left the salon with soaking wet hair. When I asked her to dry it, she said if she dried my hair it would be $40 instead of $18 so I left. Of course with wet hair (especially on a layered cut) it's very hard to see what the cut looks like, so I didn't even see the cut until I got home and dried my hair. She knew, too, because she didn't even offer to let me see the back with a hand mirror, knowing that I wouldn't be able to tell anything. Once I could see it dry I saw that I would have asked for some additional shaping but it was too late. I've gone to Great Clips regularly in other states for years and never had this happen. read more

I have been a faithful Great Clips client for a number of years, from Chicago to NY to other locations, I have always found it convenient to get my hair cut at Great Clips. This is one of the only locations that has a owner policy, where they do not allow you to make an appointment with an stylist of your choice, nor select the stylist when you walk in based on your experience of service and styling that you have had with them. Another words, you can not know when the person that you like to cut your hair is working in order to request them nor can you request for that person to cut your hair even though they are working when you walk in. You pay the price and get who you get regardless if you are happy with their cut or not. Apparently this branch owner has just said the hell with customer service and preferences. There is enough business to provide the service that they choose is appropriate for the client. When I called the corporate, I was informed that although there has been numerous concerns by other clients, the owner of this particular branch does not feel that the clients have the right to get the hair cut they want. I normally do not write a review but since it seems that the corporate can not make an improvement in this particular case, I felt that loosing a few clients may have an impact on the owners opinion to reconsider customer service values. My daughter decided she needed a hair cut so off we went to great clips. No appointment needed, just walk in or I believe you can check in online. They just do haircuts. There were four stylists in there so we did not have to wait at all. It was cut exactly the way she specified. She left a happy camper. read more

I had to go home after and shower to get rid of neck hair and not really a problem. last haircut got a stylist that was amazing I'm (not good with names)Waited about 18 minutes for online checkout today and when I got called I politely asked if I could wait for the lady who did my hair last time that she was great. Stylist got an attitude then said others are waiting and you can't ask for a stylist, they don't work that way!! I said I didn't mind I would wait as long as it takes until she was available.In a couple of minutes another stylist came and called my name (possibly manager?) I told her the same story that i really liked that lady and would wait no problem and I was told "You take who we give you or you don't get your haircut today!!"I said thank you and left. I've tried to give this place 3 try's and it's just not worth it. It's the worst concept I've seen in a hair cut establishment ever. I got 1 good haircut out of the 3, but you can't request who you want to cut your hair when you go, they tell you who's going to cut your hair. So next time you go you get the new-bee who just got out of hairdressing school & butchers your head. Really? ALL the Great Clips in the Myrtle Beach/North Myrtle Beach area are owned by the same person, so they ALL have the same stupid policy that you CANNOT request the same hair stylist that cut your hair the previous time. In fact, you can't choose who you want to cut your hair AT ALL! They literally TELL you who is going to cut your hair because Great Clips has this stupid policy of forcing you to go with whatever stylist is open. They go by rotation. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it MY money that I am using to pay for your hairstyling service? So, you're going to tell me who I am going to give my money to? This place is run by a bunch of Nazis. No thanks. I'll take my money and my business elsewhere. These people act like they are some posh hair salon on Fifth Avenue in NYC or on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills that you have to make an appointment months ahead of time just to get into. Showed up at 6 as a walk in for a quick trim. Staff did not even acknowledge my presence for at least 5 minutes, then told me unless I checked in online they would not cut my hair. I asked why and they statef that i had to be checked in online to get service. The website clearly states they are a WALK IN salon. I will never give my business to another Great Clips again, especially the one in Murrels Inlet. I hope the owner of this business realizes how much money they are losing because of these employees. I witnessed them turn 2 other ladies down as well. I am sure this location won't be in business long. read more

WORSE HAIRCUT EVER. I had to go the next day to get another haircut just to make it look decent.

The first time I went there, I specifically told the hairdresser I wanted my hair cut "stacked" with a 3 blade in back and on the sides. She told me the hairstyle I was requesting was a fade. I told her no, I wanted it stacked. As I sat in the chair it became apparent I was getting a fade. The second time I went there I had a different hairstylist and she did a great job and corrected my haircut info in the system. I was so happy. I just went back for a third haircut and I requested the same hairdresser. She said I could not request a specific hairdresser. I told her what happened and she still would not let me choose a hairdresser. Given a clients history, I would think the owner would change their policy. I won't be back if I can't choose who is going to cut my hair. I did call corporate and it is up to the owner to decide on policies. She asked for my phone number and I asked her to tell the owner I would appreciate hearing from them. I don't understand why they would ask for a phone number and not follow through with a call back. I guess if you are willing to play Russian Roulette with your hairstyle, this is the place for you. I prefer knowing that my hair will be cut consistently the same. read more

I am in disgust at this establishment right now. I went out of my way to go to Great Clips because I have had very pleasant experiences there, but I will never come back. I got my haircut this afternoon and when I sat down in the chair I explained to Steph that I wanted 1 inch off all the way around. I went on to say I do not like the faded style haircut and prefer it to all be even. She understood and began cutting my hair. Instead of doing what I asked of her, she cut two inches off the back and sides and one inch on top. This is EXACTLY what I asked her not to do. I am not sure what went wrong, but I have never been more unhappy with a haircut in my entire life. Great Clips has lost my business for good. It is one thing to not be very good with scissors, but to blatantly disregard what a customer asked of her is inexcusable. I hope this review can warn others of the quality of service and Steph's inability to listen to her customers. read more

The stylist, Sacandra, listened to my request and then with a pleasant professionalism cut it precisely as I wanted. A perfect cut and a restyle to a self cut I had botched. I've had cuts in many salons in several states for comparison. read more
