Otherwise, I love the warm yet functional interior of Mane Street Salon. I had a hard time finding a trustworthy stylist when I moved to the area and went 6 months between colors. By word of mouth, I found Kari. She was so incredibly warm, understanding and desperately wanted to fix my gray. I think she actually cared more about my color and finding the right color for me than I did. What a gift. She worked to find the right color mix and she expertly went to work. She was careful to make sure my clothing and facial skin was clean and dye free. Within a short amount of time, I was gray-free with fabulous auburn hair. She's continues to have the same level of diligence every time I go to her and I'm happy to say she's the only one I trust with my hair.

The day I went for an appointment half the metered parking in front of their establishment was "No Parking" mandated by the city. Instead of working with a client of many years, they insisted "15 minutes" or the appointment is cancelled and you are charged. This is so inhuman. They are based out of another state and are unwilling to accommodate clients when there are exigent circumstances, like the city taking parking away, making it even more difficult to park. I'm done struggling to find parking and being met with a lack of compassion or flexibility. It's not worth it. If you're okay with inflexible rules, lack of compassion and a refusal to respect you as an years-long client, this is your place.

I love coming into a place that feels welcoming and serene. It's a pretty salon, just like the pics! I called and requested a stylist who was good with coarse hair. I have hair breakage from hormones and I just came off an eczema flare up that lasted ten months so I didn't get a haircut for a long time due to scalp sensitivity. Julia was assigned to me and she was great. We did a hair mask that was suggested during my appointment booking and I guess I really needed it. lol. My hair feels amazing. Julia did all the things I hoped for as I left it up to her on what to do. I didn't have any style in mind, I just told her what I didn't like and she took into consideration my hair type, how much time I put into styling my hair, and my face shape. I left with the length I wanted to keep, long layers and soft bangs that sweep to the side. I can wear it curly which is my natural or blow it straight. THE STYLIST: Jen arrives from Salt Lake City where she had fifteen years of experience as stylist at an Aveda salon - with all the great training Aveda provides. I imagine Jen's former clients in Salt Lake must really be missing her - and their Facebook posts say that is true - because Jen just cut and colored my hair for the first time and both services were simply top notch. My hair is fine - and I have found that unlike fine wine, fine hair does not improve with age - and challenging to cut. I have tried a number of different stylists in the six years I've lived in the Boise area and Jen provided not only the best cut to fit my hair that I've had here but among the best cuts I've had in a dozen years.
