This is the Great Clips on Mercer Island. It is located at Island Square across from QFC, with street parking right in front. While I live in Bellevue, I saw a coupon online for a haircut and decided to give the shop a try based on the positive reviews. To get a haircut, they have a check-in system and I would suggest you do this online. You can also do this in-store, but the wait could be longer, depending on the queue. Learned that the hard way because the waiting time jumped significantly from the time I left home to when I arrived at the store. My haircut was okay. It looked good and I was satisfied, though it did seem like the haircut was a bit short. The stylist was friendly as well. I would consider going to this Great Clips again if I am looking for a simple haircut. read more

We came in for my child's haircut. Unfortunately the result was extremely short and very uneven. It cannot be corrected. I chose not to say anything in front of my child at the time because I didn't want to upset him, but I was honestly very disappointed. This place is terrible. My son went to get his haircut. He had a picture that he had for reference in the style he wanted, and they refused to look at it. He had already paid or he would have left. He got the worst haircut! They cut all of his hair off and didn't listen to him at all. Terrible! I would NOT recommend. read more

Is this the best haircut I've ever gotten? No. Was it a true salon experience? No. But was it the least expensive trim I've gotten in a long time? Yes, it absolutely was. As someone who dislikes getting their hair cut, I stopped by here in order to get rid of my sad dry ends. I didn't have an appointment but just walked in, and waited maybe 15 minutes before Coco (?) was able to get me seated for a cut. She asked what I was looking for and I explained, and she set forth with trimming off my damaged ends. This was a no frills haircut experience - no shampoo, conditioner or scalp massage, but my hair is trimmed and that's all that really matters. read more

Very pleased, not fancy, but good resulting haircut. Service and interactions were good, though I decide based on results. This will be my go to location from now on. read more

Thu (pronounced "Two") is the best! Always gives the best haircut. I've now introduced her to multiple friends (and their mothers!). You can request your favorite stylist once you find the one you like :) She does a great job on long female haircuts (and you know that this takes longer and we are pickier ). So I've come now I think 5 times. The first 4 we're good, what I expected for the price. Today I just left and it was terrible. Probably one of the worst haircuts I've ever had. I asked for like 2-3 inches cut and he cut like 6. It's WAY too short and I hate it. It was so uneven he kept trying to fix it to make it even but cutting off more and more and then finally I'm like stop cutting it! It's so short! I hate it! I would not go back if the same guy was there. He also kept blaming my hair for 'looking' uneven cuz it's dyed. Both sides of my hair are completely different lengths and the back looks terrible. It's gonna have to be curled or in a bun all summer until I can get it fixed once it's grown. read more

I have never had a 5 minute haircut before. I was shocked when it was done. Usually they go over all the areas to make sure everything is perfect and clean up stray hairs. Not this time. How do you ask a stylist to continue the haircut without sounding rude? I don't know. Frustrating. read more

We had very bad experience today. We checked in online, and get there right before time. We were told that we're next and will be in one minute. Then the male barber finished last customer and then called the next customer after us. The female barber said that he should call the name by sequence. He said that because he told the next customer she will be next so he skipped us. Then we were skipped again. We felt discrimination. We will never go there again. I have been going to this great clips for about a year and have had good luck with most of the stylist. Unfortunately, Thu, who is a very nice lady, has given me two bad hair cuts. I am a woman with short hair, but I don't want it too short. I told her use scissors not hair trimmers, she used trimmers. I told her 1.5 inches, she cut off 2.5 inches. Both times she buzzed the sides. I did not want buzzed sides and told her repeatedly, she did it any way. I think she needs to stick to men as that is the hair cut she gave me. A man's hair cut. Women beware. I hate to move saloons but I can't imagine getting three bad hair cuts. read more

This great clips is the best. I've been going here for over a decade and will never go anywhere else. I find that the customer service here is great and some of the employees give that little extra attention to detail that makes this one better then any others. I specifically request and get my haircut by Tue. I drive from Everett just to get my hair cut from her. She is the best, and her customer service is amazing. I always get a haircut exactly the way I want, and I leave with a giant smile, feeling refreshed. She is the top reason I come to this GC. My review statements are true for before and after COVID started. Tip - If you feel uncomfortable, just ask them to not touch your head and they will do just that. Communication is key. read more

I brought my daughter in for her first haircut and it went so well! The lady who cut her hair was so kind. She took her time and made sure the cut was even and the length we wanted. She communicated well with my daughter and made what could've been really challenging painless! I mentioned I trim my daughter's bangs at home usually and the lady took the time to give me some pointers on how to do it a little better, which I appreciated. Overall I'm glad we made the drive to this particular location from Seattle. Much less expensive than some of the salons geared exclusively toward kids and a good experience. read more

I saw my boyfriend get his haircut here. It was a simple buzz cut yet the lady who was doing it messed it up - how can you mess a buzz cut up? She had left his sideburns sticking out at a weird angle, so we had to go back in to get that cleaned up. Also she had no regard for keeping the hair off of my boyfriend - most hair stylists are rather cognizant of getting a lot of hair on the customers. Also, when we first stepped in to ask the front desk if they even did buzz cuts, the lady kept on asking our name and if we had an appointment. total hatchet job. I have been here many times and have had decent service. Today, not so much. The person cutting my hair was Laia. I literally spent 12 minutes from check in to paying and that included hanging my coat, hat and gloves, getting situated in the chair and her getting set up. Twelve minutes. That would have been great if it was a good haircut. It was not. I told her that it was not even and she just kept saying "it looks nice" over and over. I ask her to fix it and she just took off the cape and said "it looks nice". Seriously, she must have spent maybe six or seven minutes cutting my hair which wasn't terribly long, but long enough to spend more time getting it right. Bottom line, I will never have her touch my hair again. It was just a shocking experience. Imagine paying someone to cut your hair, having them mess it up and then (effectively) say too bad! I just left shaking my head. My advice, if you are going to go there, avoid her like the plague. read more

Have been here many times and no problems. Today my husband and I were waiting for a specific stylist and he decided to go with another as the wait for this particular stylist was too long. When it was my turn with that particular styliist she took the person who came in after me! I didnt realize it until 10 minutes later when their clock reset my wait time. I went with another stylist and he said this sometimes happens. When I cashed out I brought it to the stylists attention (the one I requested when I made the appointment) and no apology..no nothing. My husband and I have been getting our hair cut by her at least 5 or more times the last year. Customer service? I don't think so! Won't be requesting her again. read more

We've been here a few times - for kids' haircuts and my husband, but this today's visit with Doret really was the worst. She was really rough and left a bunch of cuts on the back of my husband's neck - see photo. And it's just a weird haircut in back. I was a walk-in this morning when I had some time to kill during my daughter's soccer game nearby. I was able to get in right away for a wash and cut. Ha, who is relatively new to this location, is a seasoned stylist and gave me a perfect hairstyle with a layered inverted bob. She was friendly and relaxed and professional. My shampoo was leisurely and the conditioning included a brief scalp massage. I was in and out in 30 minutes and couldn't have been happier if I paid $100 more. I used to come to this place in their old location by the Subway/Teriyaki shop strip area on Mercer Island; and have since continued coming here; but as Chris M said the thin asian guy that used to work there no longer is with them and opened his own business and when I went there I feel that he was the only person that gave a really good haircut. I am one of those people that doesn't care that much about my haircut; I'm not looking for a $30 - $50 haircut; I just get the basic $16 haircut; how hard is that to mess up? I find it funny that the business owner rather than take constructive criticism just argues back to people that are just trying to be honest. "We care a great deal about our customers and have excellent stylists that guarantee the haircuts. The employees are involved in the community and are caring individuals. We have 200 customers per week that use online check-in so they must like it. I'm sorry if we have offended you in some way. Thank you for taking the time to do a review." Why will I not be coming back here ever again and taking 90 5-10 minute east to find a haircut? Last time I went here I was extremely tired a bit in a daze and just looking to get my haircut. A lot of times when you get your hair cut your stylist will break the awkward silence with the small talk; that's fine great cool whatever. My stylist when I answered with one word answers after about 3 minutes gave up which I was grateful for; then literally said something extremely condescending about me to her co-worker because she thought i was asleep in the chair. What kind of person does that even if the customer is out of earshot but within the store? Not impressed at all; not with the haircuts nor the customer service. read more

I am a male and have tried going here in the past and could only find one person who could cut my hair, however, he left and opened his own business. Great clips has never cared about giving a quality hair cut....they just rather take short cuts and hope you don't see their mistakes. P.S. If you read some of the "5 Star" reviews...they are obviously employees of Great Clips...notice how they are trying to sell you the "great" location and layout, and online check in features....no regular customers go out of their way to give a 5 star rating just to say that...especially for hair cut chain. read more

I had put off coming in to Great Clips as the last cut I'd received at the old location/management was awful, but the frizzy ends needed tending and I was broke, so I tried the new place. The new location next to Noah's Bagels is bright and cheery, and there is ample free parking in the garage behind the shop. The new owner is friendly but not obsequious. Those of you who've had bad experiences, let him know. He struck me as the kind of guy who values customer satisfaction. Bradley (?) cut my hair and OMG! Best. Haircut. Evar. He has 20 years experience and it shows. Get in there now before an expensive salon snaps him up. You will not regret it.
