I drove about 30…read moreminutes from where I live to get to this location based on the positive reviews I read on the Vagaro app. I am always happy when the experiences of other customers encourage me to investigate a business for myself. This time it really paid off. From the moment I opened the door, it was evident that Genesis was much more than an average salon. The lobby is beautifully decorated and comfortable. I was greeted immediately by the person who was to perform my service (Obi is awesomeness personified), and led to another immaculately furnished and decorated area. I love that everywhere I went, I could see that the customer was kept in mind. There are comfortable places to lounge and it is obviously kept CLEAN! From the outside, you would think this salon and spa is your ordinary store front, however you would be mistaken. Genesis is huge on the inside. Before coming for my appointment, I researched my esthetician Obi through her customer reviews. I'm happy to report that She was exactly what all of her customers have said she is: PHENOMENAL! I appreciated her professionalism and warm personality. Even though this was my first direct experience with her waxing services, I felt completely comfortable with her. Most importantly, she made sure that I was 100% satisfied with my service before I left, and to me, that is a woman who knows the meaning of customer service. Obi was so awesome that my spa and pedicure appointments are booked with her for the next few months. Yep, Obi is the newest member of the Diva Squad! I'm so thankful to have found Obi and Genesis. Genesis Salon and Spa offers several services for men and women geared to pamper and care for the body, mind, and spirit. The best part for me is that this is a small, local, woman-owned business. An appointment was made for the same day. Finding the salon was easy, as it it located right off route 13 in front of the Veterans Airport. Upon arrival, I was checked in and offered refreshment as I waited, which was only a few minutes. Amber and I discussed the characteristics of my hair and what would make it a more manageable style. She really listened to what I wanted out of my hairstyle. She took her time and we talked a lot about how to transition from coloring my hair monthly to letting the gray come out. It took a little while for her to do my hair, which I didn't mind at all. The end result...I absolutely love my hair. I knew Amber was a new stylist and really appreciated her time and patience getting through my thick hair. But I watched the other stylist as they worked also. Everyone was very friendly. Now, I live in VA and I still travel back to have her do my hair. Julie is great at listening to what you have in mind, taking pictures of styles you bring in, and then improving on that so that you look your best. Unlike some stylists who can cut, but might not be good at color, Julie is awesome at both. She really uses the two to compliment each other. What might be a good cut otherwise, becomes a great cut with the right color treatment. I am really excited to travel back and sit in her chair in her new salon. AND - she is also a great make-up artist. I have been in two weddings for which she did the make-up. All of the girls looked fresh and gorgeous, but also like themselves. Julie has a great creative eye and is fantastic at executing not only her own vision, but translating what you, the client, might otherwise have a hard time articulating. The salon is also selling its brandname make-up. I haven't tried it, so I can't comment on it. But if Julie is willing to put her name on it, then I will assume it is high quality product.
