I don't know why this location has so many low-star reviews, because it works just fine for me. Here is why you should use Great Clips at the Hen House Marketplace location: You can make an appointment online. You can get texts advising of your spot in line. The stylists are very friendly. Your preferences are always saved. You're in, you're taken care of, and out quickly. For $20 (now $22) plus those well-deserved tips (tip your stylist!) it's a pretty good value. No, it's not a barbershop where you sit around and jaw your socks off and solve all the world's problems. Great Clips will cut all kinds of hair, all ages, and they have plenty of recommendations should hair care products be suitable for you. They provide a service with commensurate value, and for me, it's part of my neighborhood. I have been coming to this location since before the days of CoVID, and I will keep coming here as long as they're open. I always like to see friendly faces like Kim, Cheryl, and the late Einstein, may he chase tennis balls in doggo heaven. Easy to access & schedule, great value, and friendly faces. If there is any knock, then it might be not having the ability to pick your stylist on the app. But that's on GC itself and not this location, because these ladies get it done and get it done well. read more

I like coming to this great clips because its convenient but I wont be coming back here again. A couple weeks ago I went in to get a hair cut and told the lady I wanted 2 to 3 inches off (just a trim) she proceeded to cut my hair at least 5 to 6 inches. It was so short. Which was not a big deal I wasn't to worried about that. The big problem was when I took my son the next weekend. We come in and everyone is just unfriendly and snotty. I show the lady what my son wanted and she just rolled her eyes without saying anything. It was a standard faded sides and a cut on top. In the middle of him getting his hair cut a guy pulled into the parking lot and was getting out of the car, the girl that was cutting my son's hair turned to the other stylist and said "here comes that guy with the big earings" and the other girl rolled her eyes and pretended to run away. Then was nice and friendly to him while cutting his hair. So disturbing and two-faced. When my son's hair was done and he was walking to meet me at check out the other girl goes "thats an interesting hair cut" and the girl that cut my son's hair laughed! Luckily my son didnt hear that and i made sure to tell him it looks very nice. The workers here are so extremely rude and mean girl material and hate children read more

Stephanie cut my sons hair and it was the worst experience ever. She cut him with the clippers. No acknowledgment of the incident and she was rude from the moment we walked in the door. She was the person that greeted us at the desk and barked did you register online. We had. Then she took my son while by husband had his cut by Lynsie, who was lovely. While Steffanie cut my son's hair she was gruff with him and pushed his head around and tapped impatiently on his body to give him directions of where to look. When she asked about the desired length, as I was trying to answer, she cut me off and told me I didn't answering her question. At that moment I realized she had cut my daughter hair years ago and it was a terrible experience too. Then she didn't have bright pink hair. It was my daughter first hair cut and she was super upset about me wanting to video. I now think it's because she doesn't want proof of how poorly she treats children while in her chair. Please do NOT let Steffanie cut your children's hair. Other stylist at this location are fine, but on two separate occasions Steffanie has had a bad attitude, aggressive with her direction to children and not a great cut. read more

Took my two kids for back-to-school haircuts and one stylist was pretty gruff and kind of rude and the other stylist was nicer but missed multiple spots on my son's hair and I had to point them out to her. She was very fast on his hair, so I guess I know why. I loved my experience at another location, but that one was full today. I don't plan to come back to this location and will plan ahead better so I can go to the other location where I had a positive experience. read more

Awful. Awful. Awful. Absolutely TERRIBLE haircuts. Went from long, curly hair to short and straight as an arrow. Absolutely nothing I do can fix the complete monstrosity that was done. What an absolute nightmare of a haircut experience for my TWO YEAR OLD son who is terrified of getting his haircut already. We went to the Great Clips in Lenexa by Hen House. This exact location: 14904 W 87th Street Lenexa, KS 66215. We walked in and the woman stylist with black hair and was short in her profile, had said she was ready for us to do my son's hair. I do not remember her name for the life of me. But she works at that location. She worked at the time of the appointment around 11:45 / 11:50 AM CT and was working on my sons hair. I told the woman stylist that my son probably won't sit in the chair and she rudely rolled her eyes to the fellow coworker of hers. So great first impression right off the bat. Secondly, my husband is telling her what we want done on my two year old son and she rudely said "let me do my job." My husband was just trying to explain what he wanted done for him as my son is two and cannot speak for himself what kind of freaking haircut he wants. Thirdly, as we were finishing up, my son was getting squirmy, and I had to hold my son a bit tighter so that he would not harm himself and or harm the stylist with scissors in her hand. She told me, the mother, "Do not hold him like that, that is why he doesn't like it, the way you're holding him." My husband said "Hold on a minute, how are you going to tell the mother of her son how to hold their kid." The woman stylist got upset for some reason with my husband telling her that she should not tell the mother of a kid how to hold her son and then said "get out" and made us leave close to the end of the haircut. My son's haircut did not look finished and he had hair all over him. He is TWO and did not know at all what was going on or why we had to leave abruptly. HAVE BETTER MANNERS. TREAT PEOPLE WITH RESPECT. THERE IS A THING CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE. LEARN IT. Will never ever return to another Great Clips again. Legit the worst haircut experience of my life. The hairdresser did not cut my hair the way I asked. I asked for all one length and for her to part my hair down the middle. She proceeded to do a dry cut, leaving my part where it was (not in the middle) and my hair is all different lengths. I asked her to cut off another half inch of my hair, and she literally grabbed two front pieces and made a cut. The entire time I was getting my hair cut her and all the other hair dressers (probably 6 others) were bashing a customer who had just left. Saying she was being "too picky" only because she wanted a mirror to look at the back of her hair. They were flat-out bullying this person and I was disgusted. I am about to start chemo so I've gradually been cutting my hair into a shorter bob. I decided to go a little shorter to do a hair style I wouldn't normally do since it's likely going to fall out anyway. Silvia should not be cutting hair, bet she doesn't even have a real license. She couldn't possibly have passed a boards exam. I didn't expect my hair to be exactly like the pic but goodness my hair was butchered. Cut way above my hairline in the back then shaved in one place up under the hair. Cut like a bowl but no shape, longer on the right than left. I left thinking, my hair can't fall out fast enough! All I could do is just laugh at the irony like a crazy lady. I have it tucked behind my ears in to hide the hideous front and sides. VERY disappointed in the customer service at this salon. Just an FYI to your staff: kids two and under SHOULD NOT wear facial masks because they are at risk for suffocation. Not only did they make my kid wear a mask and get sassy when he wouldn't keep it on but also I wasn't allowed to stay in the building with him. So imagine my fear with this mask kept on my kid and me not being able to keep my eyes on him in case he was having trouble breathing. Also- Imagine leaving your TWO YEAR OLD kid by themselves inside a business where you can't see them! The entire time the person that was cutting my kids hair was getting annoyed because he was throwing a fit... really eases my worrying by leaving him with her. These employees need training on customer service and refresher on what CDC guidelines are before trying to educate customers. Do not get your hair cut here. Very very bad experience for me here. I would give 0 if i can, they are rude and not professional. The lady hardly took 3 minutes for my hair cut and she messed up with my hairs. I have come here for haircuts for myself and my son multiple times in the last few years. Never again. The person I was going to get my hair cut from was rude right from the start. The store was empty when I walked in, not a soul in site. I had to wait about 3 minutes or so before she even came out of the little back area. Then she never even greeted me at all. No Hi, hello or how you doin'. Simply walked all the way up to the computer in front and said "phone number". I gave it to her and she started walking away and pointed to a chair. I sat and showed her two different pictures of styles of haircuts I wanted, she seemed to not understand what a fade was and kept asking what number clip I wanted on the razor. I kept saying a fade so many different clips and she said she could only use one or maybe two of them. She was actually trying to argue that I didn't want the haircut that I wanted and even said my head wasn't the right shape for it(?!?!) After literally sitting trying to explain what I wanted for 5 minutes(no lie) I finally said I didn't want her to cut my hair as she doesn't seem to know what shes doing at all. By far the worst customer service I have ever seen at any Hair shop. She actually didn't seemed to want to cut hair at all and acted like she could care less. I drove 2 minutes down the street to another shop and showed them the same pictures and had no problem at all getting the exact hair cut I asked for. Go anywhere else but here! read more

Awful experience. I took my two sons here because this is where my husband goes. My youngest son is just shy of two and hates haircuts. Instead of trying to calm him and make the best of the cut she manhandled him and even with my husband sitting with him the cut ended terribly. Yes he's a difficult toddler to do haircuts on but I used to take him to Sportsclips, (where we will be returning) and I have never seen this bad a haircut. At Sportsclips the girls go out of their way to make him comfortable. I've seen them sing, talk to him, turn cartoons on, and one wonderful girl even let him use her personal iPad. He sat still as a stone during that one. He had zero sideburns and the cut was uneven all over. Where she cut the sideburns off were different lengths on each side. We ended up having to buzz it all off! Christmas card pictures will be here soon. My older son got an okay haircut from the manager and my husband usually sees the gentleman that is there and his hair looks great. My advice is to avoid the blonde with zero personality. I know it's just hair and it will grow back but my son had to go through a traumatizing experience and end up with a rotten haircut. Then we had to buzz it all off anyway. read more

I got my hair cut by Stephane. I had a picture of the cut I wanted, she barely looked at it, then started chopping away at my hair. Didn't really want to listen to what I had to say about the cut, like ways I wanted it cut differently than the picture. The entire time she was overly aggressive. I'm kind of surprised my head isn't bleeding from the way she was combing. She hit me in the head three times with the blow drier at the end of the cut. No apologies. I have a small hoop earring by the top of my ear, she caught the comb in it several times, didn't ask if it hurt or offer an apology. After the second time I pointed out that I had an earring there and I would appreciate if she tried to not catch the comb in it, but that didn't seem to help any. She made no effort to talk to me during the cut, and was pretty non-responsive to my attempts to talk to her. I have never had this kind of problem when getting my hair done. She also had this really disgusted look on her face the entire time. Like my hair was full of maggots or something. I may not have amazing hair, but it was clean and orderly. Maybe she just has bitch resting face. This was easily the worst experience at a hair salon I have ever had. On top of everything else, I hate my hair cut and will probably end up going somewhere else where hopefully it can be fixed. read more

Been going for a few years, same cut every time. Went in today and was told it can't be done. I said it's even on the sheet and have got the same cut here for years. She got mad and started a hissy fit. Haircut was less than 3 minutes with the "barber" having an attitude the whole time, throwing tools and other things on the ground, slamming their drawers, and was rough moving my head and using their clippers. Didn't cut all areas so it looks like crap. Lost a customer for sure.
