I went in & the stylist and I had a great conversation about what I was looking for. The cut was really beautiful but she said the color would take more time than what we'd booked. She said she'd confer with the owner for any additional suggestions for processing my hair, and I scheduled the following week for color services. I returned for the color a week before Christmas. We spoke again to confirm my objective: I wanted ash blonde highlights in my naturally grey hair. Easy Peasy, right? No. The color process went awry, and after she tried to tone the color down with an all-over color, I left with a full head of solid strawberry blonde hair. Yes, I paid $250 for a 3 hour, total hair transformation...which was great if I were in witness protection. On Christmas Eve, my grandchildren cried because they didn't recognize me, and our dinner was unusually quiet. I never went back to the salon, and in spite of the stylists' advising my stylist on remedial options, I never heard from the salon again. The End

I understand that mistakes can happen, but I expected the salon to acknowledge the problem and take responsibility for the outcome. Instead, I was left feeling like the orange color was considered acceptable when it clearly was not what we wanted. I would not recommend this place to anyone based on our experience. Luckily for me, the stars were aligned when I asked a friend about her stylist and she gave me Jamie Gourd's number. Jamie had just moved to Hello Beautiful, which is located on the far end of an otherwise nondescript strip mall. Even with an address in hand I wasn't sure I made the correct turn, but I eventually found the salon, and Jamie. I changed stylists because I was spending four to six hours at the salon every time I had a cut and highlights. I have kids and jobs and house to clean I just can't spend that long on my hair. Even though it was a Saturday morning, Jamie was smiling and perky. She had me in and out in an hour and a half, and my hair looked great. I sent my daughters to her too, and they were equally pleased with their cuts. Hello Beautiful is new, clean and -- because it's open and airy -- pretty noisy when all the stylists have clients. The noise isn't too overwhelming, though, and mothers with young children will love the little table in the corner stocked with colors and books. My kids are older, but it's a nice extra knowing there's something to keep your little angels busy while you squeeze in some much-needed me time.
