i tried this place several times because it's close to my house, but i wont be going back after too many bad experiences. Several haircuts were uneven or not what I asked for or were such a small trim I couldn't tell the difference. At least two of the stylists were snappy and rude several times like they were miserable and hated that I was even there. at several points there wasn't enough staff and multiple interruptions with my stylist leaving me in the chair at least 10 times during one haircut. I also hate that they don't let you make an appointment or even request a particular stylist. maybe great clips is a just terrible company who overworks their staff, but I can't be paying $30 to be treated like garbage and left with a haircut worse than what I walked in with. read more

I typically use the salon in American Canyon, but was closer to this store, so I decided to try this one for the first time. It was a good-great visit. I was surprised to see the store pretty busy for an early Sunday morning. 'Bout a 45min. wait. There were 4 stylists on duty busily clipping away with a full lobby of customers. I usually prefer female stylists, but to cut back the wait, decided on going with the middle-aged Asian male stylist. He's good! Knows what he's doing. Parking's much easier here as is getting in and out of the center compared to American Canyon. And this store has a clean, readily accessible restroom for customers, which was a blessing after my haircut. Open, public restrooms not always a given at many other salons. I have been on the hunt for a regular stylist since mine retired three years ago. I've tried different salons that did a wash+cut with prices ranging from $65-$100 including tip. I've been taking my boys to Great Clips for quick cuts for years but decided to get a cut there myself for once. I'm pretty simple. I just needed a trim, re-layer, and hair thinned out, and I just can't justify paying so much money for a wash when I can wash my hair myself. So I showed up to Great Clips with freshly washed hair (still wet) and kept my expectations low. Needless to say, I'm so glad I went! I think I found my regular stylist - thank God. She cut my hair exactly the way I wanted, took the weight off but kept the length. She understood that I just wanted to be in and out as quick as possible. And the total I paid for (with a generous tip) was $39. Win-win. I'll be coming here from now on. read more

I like going here because of two things: the app, and the pricing. The app makes it easy for me to schedule my haircut so I wont have to wait for a long time when it is busy. It tells me how long the wait is and my position in the queue. I get to plan my schedule so I only wait 10 mins max when I am in there. I like the location too, it is in a shopping complex next to safeway and costco. There are plenty of parking spots around. The inside looks well maintained, well lit and gives a good ambiance. Pricing is very competitive with other places. Haircut right now is 23$. I have been to other salons and I believe this is on the lower range of how much others charge. Also, once in a while you may get a coupon booklet with discounts ranging from $2 to $4. Not bad. Service, it is decent. Staff are easy to talk to if you have a request. They record the clipper number that the last person used on you and confirm if you want the same one. My haircut is not the best but I can say I am happy with it. read more

Employee who was on her phone, Layla, cuts my hair. "Cut" is a nice way of putting it. She butchered it. Not only that, she was very uncommunicative, she did things without asking, she used terrible equipment that wasn't clean, and she decided to take a little break while cutting my hair to answer some texts on her phone... yes. While I was sitting there, she was blowing all the hair off her workspace, and took a few moments to check her phone. Who does this? This visit was an absolute waste of money, time, and a haircut. I go in for just my under shave to be cleaned up and they still charge full price for a haircut when I see men come in to get the same thing and they get charged for a neck trim (which is half the price). Also, when you go to pay they automatically ask for a tip and your first tip option is 25% that is outrageous on a $24 haircut that took less than 10 min. read more

I usually take my daughter to great clips every year for a trim. She usually just gets a straight line trim all the way around to about shoulder length, nothing fancy. I usually am in and out with a happy child. Not today, I checked in on the app and was seen very quickly upon arrival from a stylist coming from the back, I didn't catch her name but she was an older woman with short black hair, thick framed round eyeglasses and a thick accent. From the beginning she began commenting on why my daughter would want to cut her hair short when it was prettier long. I calmly stated that it was her hair and she just preferred it short. I then asked for a wash since my daughter has wavy 2c hair and had a little leave in product in it. She told me that no it was ok and she would just comb it out with a brush, as I knew this would really frizz up her hair (dry wavy hair with a dry paddle brush is a no no), she told me it would be an extra cost, I let her know that I was ok. It all seemed to be going ok until she started drying her hair, she took a towel and was rubbing it violently up and down her hair, pulling and basically scrubbing it like a dish from the scalp all the way down. I instantly had a sinking feeling as I knew there is no way anyone experienced with any type of wavy or curly hair would ever dry hair like that, honestly if she did that to MY straight hair it would frizz up like crazy. It didn't last long and for some reason I didn't want to "cause a scene" or be rude and my daughter seemed ok so I let it go (unfortunately). She then started trimming her hair and it seemed to be going ok again, when she called me over to look, I asked if she could take another half an inch off as my daughter had asked it for it to land right above her shoulders and the way it was now it would be a little longer than that. She tried to convince me that no, her hair was curlier and it would dry shorter, I tried to stay calm and just explained that yes it would shrink a little but as it's not actually CURLY it wouldn't shrink as much as she was expecting and again asked if she could just trim an additional half inch as she was requesting. She went back and forth with me for a second then finally just nodded in the most ANNOYED way possible and proceeded to just brush the entire length down and trim it flat at the bottom. No sectioning, no actual care, basically just butcher it across. As soon as she was done I just said ok so we could pay and get out of there. I didn't want her touching her hair any longer. She seemed so annoyed that I asked to go a little higher and that I wouldn't believe HER on what SHE thought my daughter's hair would do... on a cut she's gotten several times. Sure enough as it dried I could tell it was longer underneath and shorter on the surface because of the terrible trim job, it was crazy frizzy and looked more damaged than when we walked IN from how rough she was with it when washing it. Immediately as we left I knew I would have to pay someone else to fix it. Please do yourselves a favor and look elsewhere or go to any other stylist in that store. read more

Checked in and waited the 40 minutes to get my haircut all to get it hacked!!!! This person had NO clue what they were doing. He proceeded to tell me that he has been cutting hair for a long time and knew what he was doing. He then told me if i didn't like it i could go and sit in someone else's chair. He then went to the back room to make a phone call. He came out to tell me that the General Manager would be calling me in 5 minutes. He goes to the back again to make another phone call about me. He wanted me to sit in someone else's chair to review his haircut. She confirmed that my haircut was not cut properly and that one side was at least 2" longer than the other side. This guy couldn't even do a guide properly let alone layer someone's hair. It has been the WORST haircut i have ever received in my life. My instincts told me to wait for the next person but i didn't want to be rude. I have only had to get my haircut done by another party once in all this time, and the quality was okay but nowhere close to Erika's. She is intelligent, attentive, trustworthy and knows her way around a pair of scissors like no-one else in Fairfield. The haircut is always perfect and never has to be re-done. I usually wouldn't go to GreatClips but did a few months ago and was given a wonderful haircut by an even more wonderful hairdresser, Erika! I had a great time and loved what she did with my hair. Well! Today, I went in for another haircut but this time a different style than I'd gotten last time and was hoping Erika was available. Unfortunately, she wasn't there and instead the hairdresser I was "helped" by absolutely butchered my hair. I showed her reference photos, clearly explained what I wanted, attempted to correct her multiple times when she wouldn't do what I wanted, and I left almost in tears because of how much I hated what she had done with my hair. I wanted an undercut and layering and she refused to give me an undercut, calling it a men's haircut. And while I may be happy with the layering she did in the back, the front was a disaster. My bangs were uneven and choppy, the sides weren't even at all, and she used the thinning shears so heavily on my already fine hair that it feels like there's almost nothing left. I still paid what I was supposed to but now I'm feeling like I shouldn't have paid at all, seeing that I spent more on clippers to fix my hair at home than I even had on the original cut from the salon. If you plan on going, please please please request Erika or someone else you've had a good experience with before and DO NOT get a new style from someone who doesn't know you or your hair. read more

Apparently, that was too complicated and I got tampered bangs and whips with lightening the thickness of my bangs. None of which was asked for. As I browsed through my Yelp friends profiles, I noticed several things about hairdos. Some have no hair at all, some hid their hair, some have long beautiful silky hair and others have lots of hair and whiskers. Well my hair had grown to a point where it was out of control. Like a Chia Pet gone wild, it was time for me to get a haircut. At first I thought of a hairstyle, but I quickly scrapped that idea and went with my usual number one attachment on the razor. Great Clips offered everything from haircuts, beard trims to perms. The folks here were friendly and ready to strike up a conversation. Plenty of parking and open seven days a week. Went in yesterday to get my toddlers haircut for the first time and was very disappointed. The entire time we were waiting every stylist had a scowl on their face and were not personable. When I went to take my daughter to the chair, she was obviously scared and in an unfamiliar setting and rather than trying to put a little effort to get her comfortable, the stylist just brushed us off and said its best to come on a good day for my daughter. It mostly depends on who you get. If you get the person three weeks out of school forget it. They're taught how to be sanitary but not how to cut hair, let alone cut hair properly. They also aren't taught how to evaluate and advise, so there's a good chance you're getting someone who knows little more than I do about cutting hair. Sine prices have gone up to $19 I advise men to go to a decent barber and women to go to places like the Looking Glass Salon or JCPENNEY or Ulta. You might pay $20 more, but you'll actually get your money's worth. Why pay $19 for someone's barely-trained-mom-cut? read more

I was never going to write a review because all of them were great. Except for today. I went in to get a 1/2 done on my head so basically bald. But I have a tail in the back which I've been growing for 10 plus years. I went in and noticed more workers and got someone I never see there. His name is Quang. He shaved off a shit ton of my tail and the ladies who usually cut my hair never do. He was very rough with the shaving and for some reason even lined up my bald spot which is why I like to shave down a lot. If you're going to get a really low shave ask for one of the ladies. This guy was basically scraping my scalp with those clippers. Sorry to say but that's why I gave a 3. I would go lower but the other staff is great. read more

WORST haircut in my life and I am in my late 60's. The saying "you get what you pay for" is definitely true here. It looks like a haircut done by someone with no training. I have been here 3 times and the first time was great and I was extremely pleased with the haircut as well as the stylist who did the cutting. I believe her name is Marisella? (The second time I came, the experience was not what I had remembered with a different stylist whom wanted to just sell me her other business of investing with some company she works for while cutting hair on the side. when getting a haircut I really don't want to be sold anything, and then to follow up multiple times about her OTHER JOB of sales is just not professional for a stylist or anyone else for that matter.) The third haircut was done today just moments ago and I could not be happier with the service and the haircut. HEIDI is fairly newer to this location and she did a great a job, was very professional while making conversation in a friendly, true manner. Great job and keep it up Heidi! I'll be back!
