I have been going here for years, the staff has changed over those years and I still continue to get my haircut here. Today I had a bad experience with a trainee. A fellow employee the next station over stopped and helped her halfway through the cut but in the end when I ask her to fix the length on top, she stated multiple times that she cut the top already. She did check the front top of my style but cut about 1/8" off as if it was fine. I have never styled my hair like Logan in the movie Wolverine. That's what the cut looked like after I rinsed and styled it. I called another great clips location to see if they will fix it because I don't want to go back to this location again. They did say to come in and they will take care of it. All in all it's my time and money that has been altered by this experience. read more

I'll try to hold back a little, but my worst haircut ever happened here. While waiting my turn, watching two people cut hair, it was going to be an inexperienced young lady or a pudgy young guy with a strip of purple hair over his head and several bee bees positioned on his face. My patience was wearing thin. Finally, without choice, I went ahead to the young ladies chair. Is it impolite to ask if you are a trainie? Or learning on the job? I knew she was not well seasoned because pudgy had to assist her on some cutting. Well, my own fault. I SHOULD HAVE JUST WALKED OUT AND SAVED MYSELF FROM MY WORST HAIRCUT EVER!. Shayla is a horrible person and blind as a bat if she felt that she gave my 8 year old an even hair cut exactly like the last time he was there. My husband was not allowed to be by my son because he "was in the way." She was told multiple times exactly what to do and at the beginning she was doing good, then she must have had a stroke and finished it. How these people have jobs is beside me. You get what you pay for but in this case, $22 for a men's cut means you have to fix misses spots at home. I am someone who usually ends up getting my haircut every other week. And since I have short hair, its usually easy to style and maintain. Ever since moving to the Citrus Heights area back in 2016, this particular "Great Clips" has been my go-to place on a semi-monthly basis. Every time has always been an above average and pleasant experience. Located in the Jade Plaza directly on Greenback Lane in Citrus Heights, this particular Great Clips neighbors a Pizza Guys and a Subway. On any given day, the parking can be a bit on the challenging side as there aren't a whole lot of dedicated spaces to park. Since I have the usual 8-5 workweek hours, I visit this place during the evenings or on weekends. They do have very generous hours of operation as they're open Mon-Fri from 9am-9pm and Sat/Sun from 9am-6pm. A word of advice for someone going to ANY Great Clips location, download the app! The reason why is because it is much easier to check-in prior to arriving at the location you wish to visit. The app itself tells you a real-time estimated wait (in minutes) of when a stylist will help you. On any given day, they've been more or less accurate with the times. They do take walk-in appointments but those that check-in get first priority. When arriving, a stylist will politely ask if you checked in; every time I have visited, I've seen my name on the screen directly at the register. They do offer a generous seating area but they do get very crowded during peak hours. This location does have several hair care products including top-of-the-line hair gel, hair spray, pomade, and shampoos. I've had many different stylists do my hair and each time, they have done a great job in cutting it exactly as I wanted it which is a low-fade 1/2 with a 6 on top. The stylists are also very courteous & friendly while genuinely enjoying their job. Since I am a regular here, I sign up for their email which offers discounts and promotions. Usually, I receive a coupon in the mail (every month or so) with a $7.99 haircut. That is a significant discount as a normal haircut will run around $16.99. My rating for the Citrus Heights "Great Clips", an above average four stars. read more

Wait 26 min, stylist says "I'm going to take a 10 min break". I just leave because Eli no longer have enough time to get the haircut. Please make sure the people who are cutting your hair know the basics. It's fairly common knowledge among stylists that brushing a knot from the top makes it thicker, so I was pretty worried when my stylist found a small knot and proceeded to brush it from the top, to the point where the knot had nearly tripled in size. Thankfully she went to the back for help and got a stylist who actually knew what she was doing and got the knot in a few brushes, but spending so much time listening to the stylist tell me how terrible my hair was in front of everybody when most of it was caused by her was terribly embarrassing. This could have been so easily avoided if they taught the most basic knowledge on haircare beyond how to make a straight cut. Update after getting home, my hair isn't evenly cut and she managed to make my hair greasy on one half. She put conditioner in, never washed it out, and now it feels like I was bathing in slime. Also, asked for layers. Never got those. So that's fun. read more

I went in spur of the moment. I have a torn ligament in my knee and have recovered enough to hobble in to get my hair done. My stylist was Monica. I told her I wanted about 7 inches taken off, medium layers and my bangs thinned and shaped. I know they have time guidelines to stick to and was amazed at how she was able to accomplish everything in a short amount of time. I've been in before and have had dozy stylists that DON'T listen and just take off a few inches and don't style it up. I have kinky, thick hair that snarls easy and she won the battle lol! I got a haircut here and it is one of the best haircuts I have had in years! Selena worked with me and listened to what I wanted and created the perfect no muss haircut for me. An A-line bob with the the right amount of layering and length for my face! I don't even have to blow-dry it for it to look fab. On Labor Day, Monday September 3, 2012, my boyfriend and I made a couple phone calls and learned that local Great Clips locations were closing at 6:00 p.m. rather than the usual 9:00 p.m. Monday closing time, due to the holiday. Although we live in Antelope, we wanted to shop at the stores in the same shopping center as the Great Clips - Jade Plaza (on Greenback and San Juan in Citrus Heights), so we used the apps on our mobile phones to check in before we left home. We arrived at Great Clips at 5:03 p.m., and were greeted with a sign taped on a locked door that explained that the store was closing early, due to the holiday. We knew they would be closing at 6:00, but this store decided to close even earlier - despite the fact that customers were checked in and obviously on their way. There was a customer sitting in a chair in the waiting area, and at least one customer receiving a haircut. The stylist just looked at us through the glass door, as we tried to get in. How nice that this location decided to close an extra hour early - in addition to the 3 hours early for the holiday. How nice that they couldn't call those on the waiting list (who were obviously en route) to let them know that they were closing even earlier than previously scheduled. How nice that they did not have the professional courtesy to come to the door and speak to us. Note to owner of this franchise: you are not unique - there is a place to get a haircut on every corner. If you treat your customers with this kind of poor service, your franchise will not survive. read more

Been getting my haircut at great clips for years and have used their app to check in to avoid long wait times. Today I checked in as normal and the app told me I was checked in and the wait time was only 15 min. Once I got there they didn't have me checked in and they said there was nothing I could do. I even showed them my app and where it said I was checked in but that didn't matter to them. The GM said there was nothing she could do and I had to wait over an hour because she already told the other customers their wait time and she couldn't change it. What I don't get is that the app told me my wait time and for some reason it didn't matter to the manager. Don't go to this great clips. When it comes to making appointments, i have an aversion. dinner reservations rare, hence all my meals at the bar. so when it gets to hair cuts, i basically reach the point where i get tired of looking at myself, then i drive around to the local supercuts, sports clips, barber, whatever is close. if there's a deep line i keep driving. Naturally i wind up with some less than stellar cuts, but i don't care as i cut it again in a few weeks anyway. Out here in the sticks i dropped into a super cuts on sunrise a few times and boy it was really hit or miss, mainly miss, plus my ears would be assaulted by country music, so i moved on. I saw this little place. talk about an unspectacular setting. Noisy Greenback is right out front, it's a basic tiny strip mall, but i went in and every hair cut i get is great! With experiences in the past with these places it seems they have a quick rotation of barbers and it comes down to if they can cut hair well, the ones that are good usually leave or get transfered. It's frustrating and you end up getting a different person each time. Not the case with this location I have been here at least 10 times and I have always been satisfied with the haircut.
