been going to great clips for years. Carbondale only has 1 shop now so I go there. went for a trim and the stylist said "still a 1-2-3 on clippers?" I just had a cut in November 25 so assumed they updated my notes. Dumb me says "yes". I now have a summer fade with very little hair on top and it's sticking up because it's so short. Since it's February and 17 degrees, I'm now FREEZING! Is it too much to update client notes? never going back. stylist acted bored and never talked to me at all. Trying Marion Great clips or another shop completely. Side note: There were only 2 customers and 2 stylists. The other stylis was being very rude to her client about his input on his cut. read more

Went in with hip length hair around 26 inches long, requested six inches off and walked out with an uneven cut and over 12 inches gone because the stylist just didn't care. So short it's about four inches above my waist now. No sectioning, uneven bottom edge, choppy layers. I could have done a better job dead drunk at home with a pair of poultry shears. Does this joint not own a ruler? Didn't wet the hair down and barely used a comb while cutting. Not sure if the brush she used was sanitized either. To correct this hot mess, I am going to have to sacrifice another two inches just to even it out. And go to another salon where I pay for services again. Contacted the owner. Woman named Jaime Wood. She didn't care either. Minimized my complaint. I needed the six inches off because cancer damaged my hair. If this is the way this company treats cancer patients, they need to do much, much better. read more

You get what you pay for. Seems like they're understaffed, I've heard some people work from open to close so if they have a long busy day that's going to affect your cut. The last time I went in the woman that cut my hair didn't look twice at the photo I tried showing her and she ended up giving me extremely separated choppy layers that I didn't notice until I got home. She seemed angry and impatient the entire 6 minutes she was working on me but her mood completely changed when I gave her a good tip. Definitely come here if you need a trim or something quick (they're good at that). Anything else can't be guaranteed. read more

You will wait, usually longer than the estimated time. 50/50 that they will be friendly. They'll tell you it's cash only, even when it's not. The one or two stylists will have to stop every time someone comes in and stop the cut so add folks to the waiting list. Most of this is probably because they are understaffed. read more

Not professionals at all. These stylists have zero morals. Spend the extra money and go to ace of fades in Desoto.

They are pretty good and I found a coupon for $5.99!!! Super excited!! I think Yelp could use some help...... Have a good day everyone. Heading to great clips!! read more

Worst. Haircut. Ever! It was so bad I had to shave it all off !!! She disn't listen or care. Maybe partially blind.

I had no wait time which was a plus. But the stylist who assigned herself to cut my hair acted as if she had never cut hair before. I wasn't asking for anything drastic Or complicated . She referred to the stylist next to her who was doing nothing on how to cut layers in my hair. The second stylist came over and started point cutting the back of my hair, while stylist 1 watched and waited on another customer. Then stylist 1 returned and stylist 2 explained to her how to finish up. Now I know I have someone cutting my hair who is clueless as to what she is doing and I'm scared. It is time to address the front of my hair which hasn't been touched by stylist 2, but stylist 1 again refers to stylist 2 on what technique to use. I decided then I had enough hair cut and it was done. I'll give them 1 star because I had some pretty burnt ends in the back that needed cut off. But I will never go back. read more

I went here for a haircut and it was easily the worst haircut experience of my life. The lady asked how I wanted my haircut and I pulled out my cell phone and Showed her a picture from the last haircut. She asked if anyone had ever used a razor to cut my hair. I said I didn't think so. She proceeded to use a electric clippers on my hair and it seemed like she was in a race to see how fast she could get it done. And then when she removed the guard from the clippers she scratched me repeatedly with the clippers. When I got home my family laughed that my haircut. They said it look like someone put a bowl on top of my head and shaved the rest. They suggested that I would need someone to fix it. They were amazed by the scratches on my neck and recommended Neosporin. I would never go here again and would recommend that you go somewhere else. There are a lot of places that will cut your hair for $14 and not do a poor job and scratch you up. read more

Great Clips - My neck 2 days after getting a "haircut" here! - Hair Salons Near Me - Carbondale, Illinois

I went there a few weeks ago for a haircut. I have long, thick hair and the girl did a good job - no complaints on the haircut at such a great price. The place itself could use a good cleaning. At the station I was sitting at during my haircut, there was a comb ON THE FLOOR! Right underneath the mirror/shelf. Along with crumpled paper that was clearly meant for the garbage. That's not really something you want your clients to see! They need to watch Tabitha. read more

Horrible experience. My daughter left in tears saying that they were "mean". I understand if walk-ins are unwelcome after a certain time. However, that should be stated when you walk in. Instead, one stylist went to the back as we walked up at 7:45 and the other proceeded to give some story about having to wait on a man who "might" come back. If he showed up, he would have to be taken ahead of us. Two hairstylist-possibility of two patrons-shouldn't be a problem. Like I said, not willing to take a 7:45 I understand, but despise being given the run around and my child leaving in tears. read more
