Let me start by saying... a few months ago, I came in & got a cut... I walked out thinking it was "eh" but then got home & hated it. Was left w random ass layers that I didn't ask for, and my hair was SOPPING wet when I left. Like it got my damn shirt wet bc of how wet it was. Well I decided to go back in bc it's summer time now & I needed to cut my hair again but this time taking off a couple inches & getting a "long bob" type haircut -- essentially all one length all the way around. I got in the chair w Ms.Sanya, and immediately loved her!! She talked to me abt my hair & we came together to decide how I should do it!! -- communication is key in making sure your hair turns out the way you want & she gets a gold star from me w that!!! So moving on; she sees that I got some random short layers on top that are completely disconnected & need blended, so she tells me & asked if she could blend it! I told her "absolutely! Do what you gotta do, make it cute again!" So she washed, cut, blow dried & straightened my hair to PERFECTION Ms.Sanya showed tf OUT . Bless her heart too bc after she was done blow drying, she was like "I see why you just throw it up when it's long" . My hair is HEAVY. It's thick, it's curly, and there's a LOOOTT of it. I don't quite get all the negative review of this location. I've been coming here for about 4 years and I get a cut roughly monthly to every 1.5 months. There does seem to be a fair amount of turn over. I rarely have the same person twice which is a bit of a bummer. My cuts are fairly straightforward but they do a fine job. Couple of times I've asked for something slightly different and had no issues. I've noticed no one shows you the back of your head anymore so you have to hope it looks good back there. I usually ask for "medium whitewalls" and those could be cut larger in my opinion. Often I ask for them to be taken up further and that's not a big deal. I went there today and some dude waiting didn't like that I checked in online and was going to be taken next. He tried to play the "I'm next" card as if he didn't know there was a list all right in front of us with our names and the stylist politely but firmly told him that he was not next. Again, he tried to press and she rebuffed. Got to admire that spunk to handle it. I was going to step in if she wasn't comfortable handling it. My teenage son got a horrible cut here one time. We flat out believe the stylist did not listen to him and just did what she wanted to do. He won't go back there although I told him you'll likely not see the same person again. I keep going back here. They've always been friendly and get me in and out. read more

I've been coming here for years Cheryl always does a good job on my hair. The staff is polite I'm very picky & never had a problem.

I have always had waist to knee length hair, I went into great clips after normally going to Salon Indulgence and I asked the woman working (who for descriptive purposes was a beautiful older black woman and had a shaven head) if she could give me "a shampoo and a three inch trim and some layers on the bottom of my hair to give it more volume and life" she said yes excitedly and proceeded to begin the shampoo and cut. I explained to her at the beginning of the session right before she touched my hair for the first time that I have scalp psoriasis and If she could be very gentle and use the least scented (unless tea tree or mint) and From the start, she was rough. She began scratching her nails around my scalp I winced and tried speaking twice and she apologized and kept going and it improved throughout the wash so I did not complain and I continued to go through with the service, despite the nerves. One she was done washing my hair and COMPLETELY irritating my psoriasis she began just ripping my hair through the comb and yanking the knots out and then saying sorry and continue to coat my hair in more of the spray she was using. After brushing it out she began cutting my hair. I went to cosmetology school for two years and have learned how to do all Haircuts and hair services and she was using BIZARRE techniques and angles when cutting my supposed "layers. I noticed it was taking a long time and she was cutting a LOT but I couldn't see. However, She was very nice, the whole time. She was the sweetest woman and I'm not sure if she was just having a bad day but it was HORRIBLE SERVICE. she was not good at hair cutting or washing and she over charged me. She cut my hair about 7 inches and when I asked why she stated "it was dead on the ends and needed it" no, I'm sorry. But I didn't ask for you to make that decision and cut off that much hair. She charged me 47$ ??? And no where could I figure out how that math added up. For just a shampoo and a cut. It was RIDICULOUSLY UNEVEN AND UGLY. I had to go to another hair salon and get it cut the next day cause I was so humiliated and I didn't realize how uneven it was until my Friend took this picture.. read more

Took my daughter for a basic blunt and straight cut. Clearly, I should have more closely looked at this for quality control before leaving because her hair is a good INCH shorter on the left than the right. Further, it's inconsistent across the back and there are shorter chunks of hair sporadically throughout. This is a basic kids cut that I'll now have to brave and fix myself or take her elsewhere. Given how poorly this cut turned out, I'm not willing to take her back to have it fixed even if offered with no additional charge. Her hair looks TERRIBLE. read more

So sorry but they f up everyone's hair. The WORST hair salon I've been to, and I've been to Pizzaz. I asked for a trim and no layers, and they cut my hair so unevenly I cried. When cutting my daughter's bangs, they messed that up too. She showed them a photo of what she wanted, and they SUCKED at providing her with what she asked. Pissed I didn't get a refund for either, and will not be coming back. Caroline High School's cosmetology class could do better. read more

Wendy did an outstanding job! Decided last minute to go and get my hair trimmed; I checked in online, and only had to wait about 10 minutes before I was seen. An adult hair cut is $16 which is very reasonable! I will definitely be back. read more

Worst Haircut i have ever received anywhere. I think that i would have been better off putting my head under the weed eater. It looks like there are chunks taken out of my hair where she cut deep in some places & then didn't touch the rest. I walked in with long hair & left with two cowlicks on the top of my head. The first thing i told her when sitting down was that i had a double crown. When were almost done & I pointed out it was sticking up in the back i think she wanted to cut it down to the skin. This was terrible & i cannot tell someone how to pix a botched haircut. read more

Great Clips in Ashland is awesome I love this location I Love Love Love Kayla! She is amazing she's cut my hair here for almost 3 years she's great to me and amazing with my 2 little ones they always ask for ms Kayla, and she always seals the deal with the lollipops. I stopped in from out of town for a quick haircut and Gretchen did a great job. I would definitely go back!

My son goes here and we have had an issue with the groomers stylist. After one visit my son look like his neck got into a fight with a cat. I went immediately back up and they said they would note his account not to use as they have noticed some people are sensitive to it. My husband and son went back for their next appt there and they used the same thing, as they both came home with necks bright red and scratched all up. This salon was the worse place I have ever received a haircut. From being ignored on walk-in, to being disrespected as asked if I was a trucker, which why would it matter. Savannah took my name and information and then took the next man's info. Neither of us have an appointment but she took him first even though she told me I was next. Then Shannon cut my hair and did not use thinning shears on me when I asked for my hair to be thinned out. She then forgot I asked for a shampoo until I reminded her, then had to tell her again at checkout, she did not charge for the shampoo. Shannon before me was talking to two previous customers but barely spoke with me except the trucker question. I have never been so disrespected in a hair parlor. I am a vet with over 35 years of service to my country but Great Clips, any and all of them, will not get any more business from me. I also have told my friends and continue to tell this story to more of my friends. These two girls listed were unprofessional and downright rude. I plan on putting this review any and every place I can find so I can alert others to the poor and unprofessional service I received. read more
