So, last Friday, my salsa friend and I finally took the opportunity to try it out before we went dancing. The Leatherhead branch is very plush with nice comfy chairs and personalised crockery and chocolates! The staff were very friendly from the moment we walked in, being the perfect mix of helpfulness and not hovering. The menu is quite extensive with some interesting and unique dishes, several of which are in photos to give you and idea of what they look like - where's scratch and sniff when you need it to enhance the pictures? The popaddoms came with 6 chutneys and dips - I'm all about the dips and they went down well. My mango lassi was satisfyingly thick and velvety We settled on the chicken jeera and ghost (lamb) e-laziz. The portions were huge and despite the aim being not to stuff ourselves before dancing, we had little bellies by the time we walked out! The chicken jeera was packed with flavour and was the better dish. The lamb was advertised as hot, sweet and sour. Even for a seasoned curry eater like me, it was a little too hot, especially if you happen to catch a stray fresh chilli. Still, I suppose the menu warned that it would be hot! We will be back as there are still lots of dishes to try on the menu and I'm glad the Lal Akash spirit lives on

This place had a deal going of a starter, main course, side and a rice or naan for a measley £14.95. Yahtzee. The atmosphere in here was warm, with quite a few other tables occupied, 10/10 for atmosphere here. Now, I'm a big fan of fish, though anyone I've ever spoken to would advise against it in curry. I ignored these words to the wise and decided to go for a fatoff king prawn as a starter and quickly regretted it. It's too crunchy and evidently cooked as is from frozen. Mistake. Don't eat the prawn. This was the only let down here though. I'm a big fan of nan bread and these guys seem to make them a lot thinner than your average Indian, but I was pleasantly surprised at the flavour they packed. Still a fan of the thicker ones as it's easier to tidy up all of the sauce off of your plate! The chicken here is tantalisingly tender, and the sauce is packed with all the exotic flavours you go to an Indian restaurant for. I tried my first vindaloo and was actually pleasantly surprised by how edible it was haha! The manger here is a lovely guy, chatted with us a fair bit after our meal, showed us their new app for booking and ordering and then gave us a free drink of amaretto!

I received a warm welcome and got a pleasant surprise when I looked at the menu. Instead of a nasty shock with high prices, I found that the menu was actually full of cheaper prices - my Chinese Thrift Gene was happy! Munching on the obligatory popaddom, I was interested to see that they offered all the condiments separately at 50p each. This was more honest than the usual compulsory charge for all different condiments. I settled on reshmi kebab as a starter, mainly due to curiosity by its description as a meat patty in an omelette. It was quite a novel way to serve up a kebab - the meat was flattened into a patty and served inside an omelette. The meat was nicely flavoured and if I had a bun, it could even have been turned into an Indian version of a McDonalds egg McMuffin burger! For main course, I settled on a meat (lamb) methi, a side of sag paneer (Indian cheese and spinach) and some pilau rice. The methi was heavy with fenugreek and lots of fresh herbs and vegetables, confirming that it was cooked from fresh. Unfortunately, the big portions defeated my stomach and I was unable to finish all my food. A lovely meal but a word of advice to put their menu up in the window

Very Oily . No many vegetarians options Main course : there were lots of typos in menu . After ordering Sag paneer and "Motor paneer" . We couldn't find a single piece of cottage cheese (paneer) in it . Curries were sweet . Being an Indian, I really don't understand why this restaurant has put sweet in the curries . After our dinner, I got diarrhea and tummy ache. Sorry but would never recommend this restaurant to anyone.

I'm very surprised that I'm the first to review this place on Yelp. The food, service and atmosphere were excellent and by far one of the best Indian meals I've ever eaten. Whilst the majority of us have our favourite dishes, I was gently swayed by the waiter to try an alternative variation on my favourite dish - lamb saag. The dish was perfect, a perfect blend of tastes, spices and tastes incredible. I want to say it was called Lamb Sagotti but I might be wrong. Everyone agreed it was a terrific meal and if we ever found ourselves back in Claygate, we would certainly return.
