I have been coming here for a few years now and I've seen quite a few different doctors for different things wrong in my body! Dr. Fyda did my knee surgery in January. Last July 2025 I fell down my stairs and broke my left hip, I had to go to the emergency room and a doctor over at Swift Institute was on the Emergency side of it, and replaced my hip with a few screws. Well, the screws were coming out as I walked, so I saw Dr. Winkle back at great basin, and he said you're gonna have to have your hip totally replaced, as the screws are poking out.! I ended up in the hospital a few days after surgery with a stomach problem, and he actually came by to see me, and it had nothing to do with my hip, he just wanted to make sure I was OK! Absolutely incredible Dr, I highly recommend him and any doctor at Great Basin Orthopedics! The best! I needed a nausea medicine, and unbeknownst to Dr. Winkle the medicine he gave me for nausea also helped the stomach problem I was having so I could eat again, no other doctor has ever prescribed that medicine for me and I get these stomach issues a lot, we were really impressed! Thanks Dr Winkel!! I cannot believe how well I am doing, love my new life!! read more

My experience here was first rate. I did the online check in and arrived early. I was received promptly and only waited 5 minutes before being called back. The imaging technicians were great and made it fairly painless. The exams were clean and comfortable. The doctor put me at ease and came to a quick diagnosis and action plan. Everyone I encountered was friendly and professional. I recommend GBO. read more

Doctors is great! By the surgery scheduler Ashley is so rude. No patience for questions and gave absolutely no pre-op instructions. All she said was "you'll get it in the mail". She was so unhelpful that she didn't even schedule the post-op apt. read more

I just had knee surgery and I gotta give props to the GBO's team for being one of the best medical organizations I've ever seen. From check in (prompt, friendly) to procedural (knowledgeable, skilled), from post op (professional, caring) to rehab (comprehensive, challenging) I have nothing but the utmost respect for this group. Sandy greeted me warmly every time I visited the office and Dr. Fyda did an absolutely fantastic job getting me literally back on my feet. I even got a signed card from the entire medical staff that worked with me...I love it! Anyway, huge shout out to the team. Thank you very much for a job well done! read more

My experience with Great Basin Orthopedic has been nothing short of fantastic. I injured myself running (turned out to be a stress fracture at the neck of my femur) and it all came to a head while running a marathon in Florida. Flew home to Reno on a Monday, and was in GBO Tuesday morning. Did X-rays and an MRI the same day (in office, nonetheless!) and was back at GBO on Wednesday meeting with the surgeon. Had surgery on Friday. Granted, some of this efficiency was luck, and obviously my insurance's ability to turn around quick responses, but I've never seen an office move more efficiently and effectively. Every staff member I've met along the way was kind, patient, caring, sympathetic, and went out of their way to make this horrible situation a 5-star experience. Allie Janas was the most empathetic orthopedic nurse I've ever encountered and Dr. Winkel and Dr. Dickens (who did my surgery) were patient with me, answered all my questions, and openly discussed several surgical and non-surgical options. The mri technician, Kevin, made sure I could get on and off the mri table without hurting myself. There was a guy who works with Allie who literally called around town to help me find crutches in the right height. Cathy worked miracles to get me a same day mri and surgery in 48 hours. I wish I could recall the names of all the staff members I've encountered at GBO so I could name each of them out personally because each of them has been nothing short of wonderful. I can't be anymore thankful for GBO and their incredible professionalism, efficiency, compassion, and care. 5/5 highly recommend. read more

Very attentive. There's usually not much of a weight when you have an appointment.. they do have an emergency access that you can walk in and say that you have something going on and they'll get you in to see a doctor. I've had my knees replaced both of them by Christopher Dolan. You did a very good job. read more

Unprofessional business. Customer service goes a long way!! They called us to schedule an appointment for my sons broken clavicle, they informed us they could see us at 10:30am (10/13/2025) we agreed to the appointment. We showed up around 10:20ish for check in. Only a handful of people in the lobby before us, however more people started checking in after us and ALL those people were called back before we were.. So what's the point of calling and scheduling an appointment if it's going to take you 30+ minutes to be called back into a room to be seen by a provider? We are called back into one of their rooms at 11:06am then we are STILL waiting in their room to be seen another 15-20 minutes later, CRAZY!!! It's now 11:22am and still haven't seen the provider.. Customer service = GARBAGE Don't waste your time here. read more

We cannot thank Allie Janas enough for the incredible care she provided to our son, Quade. From the very beginning, she went above and beyond to make sure he felt comfortable, supported, and truly cared for. Her professionalism and knowledge were matched by her kindness and compassion, which made a world of difference during a stressful time for our family. Allie took the time to answer every question, explain everything thoroughly, and made sure we felt confident in every step of Quade's treatment. It was clear she genuinely cared about his recovery and well-being, not just as a patient, but as a person. Finding someone who combines such expertise with such a warm, thoughtful approach is rare. We are so grateful for Allie and would recommend her to anyone in need of orthopedic care. She is a true asset to Great Basin Orthopedics and to every family she helps. read more

I am so annoyed by my experience with GBO that I am writing my first yelp review in 10 years. I had a fall and sprained my thumb while visiting the Reno/Tahoe area, and I was able to get in and see Dr. Dooley at GBO. I got a hand x-ray, a 5 minute consult with the doc, and basic one-size fits all plastic and Velcro BREG splint on my way out. Then I got a bill for $832, including a $456 charge for the splint (which costs $45-$60 online: https://bracedirect.com/products/breg-versafit-wrist-brace-with-thumb-spica). After multiple angry phone calls, they moved the price down to $603. This place will rip you off. Prospective patients beware. read more

My husband was in a car accident. He got braces for his wrists when they were sprained. The nurse they put them on him had put them on him wrong, according to his physical therapist. He was wearing them the wrong way for 2 weeks before he had seen the physical therapist that showed him the right way. He got in that accident in February. He did not get an MRI ordered. They did x rays and couldn't see anything wrong, but not an MRI. We went back for a check up a month after that. The nurse then also said he would be getting new x rays even though he had already gotten some. The dr came in and said no, he wouldn't be getting x rays. So the nurse was not correctly informed. Also, he went back in for my husband's MRI results (Aaron said the MRI needed to wait until then- so three months later). The results came out good, but my husband is still in pain. Aaron said that if there was something wrong, it healed so now there is nothing else that can be done. They waited a long time for him to get an MRI rather than doing it sooner. Now he has pain that might not go away-at least not for a while, as it has been 3 months and the pain is still there. Also he waited over an hour to see the doctor. The lady that was assisting Aaron filled out his return to work paperwork and did it incorrectly with unnecessary restrictions (that he can't squat). I'm not sure how squatting ties into wrist pain but it was added on there. Hopefully his work accepts it. If not, he will have to go back to primary care to get the paperwork fixed. Should either of us need an orthopedic doctor again, we will be sure to go see someone else that won't delay necessary tests. The two stars are for reception. They were very nice and efficient. read more

Going to the doctors is usually synonymous with long waits, poor service and little to no personalities. This was my first visit to Great Basin Orthopedics and the experience was AMAZING. I used their website to book a walk in appointment for the following day with Dr. Janas. I arrived a few minutes early and checked in with a friendly receptionist who gathered my Insurance card and DL. I sat down and within 5 minutes I was called into my appointment. I was escorted by a nice physician assistant to my examination room. He asked a few standard probing questions about my knee pain. Shortly thereafter I was escorted to get some x-rays on my knees. The radiologist technician took x-rays of both knees from all directions. He was very clear as to directions and posturing for the x-rays. Afterwards I was escorted back to the examination room to wait for Dr. Janas. After about 5 minutes she arrived with a professional and courteous introduction. She inquired about my pain in my knee with many questions to help her gain more information about the injury. She gave an overview of her diagnosis and what she recommended for minor treatment that I needed. She threw in some humor and personal information about her family which made me very comfortable. After our visit I "followed the checkout signs" (joke) which concluded my overall experience. From checkin to checkout GBO is a well oiled machine. They have a well organized business model that flows to PERFECTION. I was extremely impressed at every point with my visit. Thank You Dr. Janas and all your team members at GBO. read more

In need of some serious shoulder surgery, I did some extensive research to find the BEST Orthopedic Surgeon to perform the surgery and Dr Dolan at Great Basin Orthopaedic was the guy. Besides being a super cool guy, his credentials are extremely impressive to say the least. It was a honor to have a Doctor who works on professional athletes take the time to work on me. With my shoulder always popping out of socket with ease, Dr Dolan made sure to get me in his tight schedule as soon as possible. He's an amazing person who also went out of his way to drive and perform the surgery at the place my insurance would only cover. His staff and assistant Samantha are just as impressive. I'm 3 weeks post op and doing great. Look no further if you're in need of similar surgery. Thanks again Dr Dolan. I am very grateful to you all! read more

Hubby was referred by his primary so here we are. Check in time was 2:45 and appt. is 3:15... Lots of people that checked in before and after us being called in... Hubby really starting to get upset, he has a lot of work, but left early.. if he had known this long delay, he could of stayed at work! So, now he went back to the window asking, and the response that he's a"new patient", and that there are two other appointments ahead of him, gives no valid reason .. He was here first, yet still sitting waiting to be called... If it were me, I would get my copay refunded and go elsewhere.. If this is how the appointments will go, running late, No thank you!!! read more

I've been coming to GBO Physical Therapy after slipping on a smashed plum and landing on my knees at a local grocery store. I am very pleased with the quality of care I have received. My primary provider is Christina (Tina) Taylor. The PT department works as a team while Tina oversees my care. Every procedure is explained and if I have any concerns of treatment they are addressed. There has been no waiting once I arrive; I am seen immediately. The facility adheres to COVID regulations. They immediately clean the equipment after a patient is finished using it. I would highly recommend GBO Physical Therapy to friends and family. They make you feel at ease and comfortable with the treatment received. Special thanks to Tina, Anna, Mary and JoMar. read more

After having rotator cuff surgery on February 26th 2025 I am currently in the more challenging part of my physical therapy. I have been very fortunate to have the absolute best therapist! Joel Peck, DPT has been extremely patient, compassionate and thorough. The first few weeks of my therapy consisted of Pendulum Circles, Scapular Retractions, Prom elbow flexing and extension, Wrist Flexion, Prone Rows, etc. Moving on to the next level I'm concentrating more on exercises that mainly include stretching, strength and posture which is so crucial in order for me to get back my range to motion. I'm learning to master my own strength and to push myself harder during each session. The pain is definitely more prominent but I know I'll eventually get through it! With Joel's guidance and trust, I know that I'll eventually reach my goal. I want to thank him and his entire staff for their patience and kindness thus far! I look forward to each and every appointment and I'm extremely grateful to everyone at Great Basin! Thank you all! By the way, my favorite part is getting ice or heat therapy at the end!! It's amazing! :) Janet Kupfer read more

I've been dealing with a shoulder issue for a few years and after trying everything under the sun to control the pain (PT, Accupuncture, etc.) I finally decided to see Dr. Fyda at GBO. I am so glad that I did. The operation is so seamless and the staff is professional and friendly, even in the time of COVID restrictions. I never had to wait very long to be taken to my room. I am now six weeks out of surgery for a torn labrum and am 90% better than I was going in. Dr. Fyda was sympathetic, professional and answered all of my questions and concerns. Doctor Dooley and his entire office are just amazing. I had no use of my thumbs and I am so grateful that he was able to do surgery to help me get the Usage back.. his very caring attitude and his professionalism are incredible. the time you check in at the and when the nurse greets you to the entire team they go the extra mile. The young gentleman that does the x-rays is so fun and so good at what he does you don't even care that you're getting your it's just a very upbeat experience. Dr. Dooley's nurse is very professional and Ashley the surgery scheduler as well. I wish I didn't have to write a review for Great Basin Orthopaedic but I broke my ankle in January so found myself here facing surgery and pretty nervous, having never broken anything before and not exactly keen about the long road ahead to recovery. I saw Michael Lilyquist this afternoon for my torn rotator cuff complicated with arthritis and a subchondral cyst. Michael Lilyquist impressed me with his willingness to share that he did not recall the answer to a question I asked. I always prefer hearing an honest reply rather than smooshing an answer. Never even discussed options. He was rude and condescending. Apparently it's not in his realm of specialties. He just wants to collect the money for the visit. Poor bedside manor and presentation.
