I am very thankful for this office. First MVP star goes to team member Rose. She's at the front desk essentially every time I call and every time I'm in person. She is so timely with calling me back and emailing me back, always and her professionalism even With silly questions and probably annoying request are impressive. I am so thankful for her help in all of the difficulty that comes with scheduling and rescheduling and that even when there has been things out of my control occur, I've always felt that she has been so kind to me and anyone else around the office. The office is huge. The outside is deceptive. Its filled with beautiful plants and always clean So fun The team member that i work with has been exactly what i didnt know i needed. I didnt have much experience with therapy. But found myself dealing with some incredibly difficult situations all at once. This place, in my estimation, has cost me my marriage, with my wife telling me and our two pre-teen children the night before Father's Day 2023 she is filing for divorce. Would not recommend it. Attending therapy on my own here, and just did not go anywhere. Wife's therapy I would say led to her becoming increasingly cold, finding me at fault for the majority of issues in her life, and her therapist becoming a point of triangulation that ultimately damaged the marriage severely. Biggest issue was my wish to continue on my own therapy being disregarded, and my wife's therapist communicating to my therapist, and against my wishes (and with no signed release on my part) bringing into my therapy her issues, and obliterating my feeling of confidentiality, and trust with my therapist. I needed a therapist and started looking in the Reno area for one that went through my insurance. I stumbled upon Great Basin and was put on a waitlist and I was excited to have found someone because I had called numerous people and it led to dead ends. They called me back about 2 weeks later and we scheduled an appointment. I was sent intake forms that I was supposed to fill out but I procrastinated on it because I had been severely depressed for some time and it's been harder to get simple tasks done like that. I woke up the morning of my appointment and was called in to work on my off day which never happens. I called the office and explained my situation to them and I told them I could not get out of it but I was told that their policy is that if I haven't cancelled a scheduled appointment within 24 hours of the appointment there was a $100 fee. I was a little bummed they weren't more understanding but I also understood that they have a policy and that's the way it is so I payed the $100 and we rescheduled the appointment. I was really looking forward to the 2nd appointment we had scheduled but it was the morning that I was set to go out of town that evening for Christmas with my family. I thought I would definitely be able to make it as I had the day off but the night before I couldn't sleep and had several anxiety attacks that kept me up all through the night and I ended up falling asleep about 2 hours before my morning appointment and I slept through the appointment and had to wake up and get packed and leave out of town. They called me and left a voicemail asking where I was and let me know that a no show would be subject to another $100 fee. Nothing else was stated in the voicemail. I was going through a lot of personal issues with myself, my significant other, my mom, and grieving the loss of 2 family members during the holiday season. I needed to spend Christmas with my family and regroup. I came back to Reno and gave Great Basin a call earlier today and said I needed to reschedule and make a new appointment. The woman on the phone informed me that "we cannot accommodate you due to you missing 2 intake appointments". Now, I just want to say that I understand policy and that there is a reason for policies and I had paid $200 for missing these appointments. I was never asked how I was doing. I was never asked if I needed help in any way. I informed the receptionist that I felt bad and that I wanted to make things right and that I'd be putting another $100 on the line by making another appointment and possibly not showing which I wouldn't just keep doing because that makes no sense. Eventually I'd just have to show or stop making appointments. But instead I was given a "we cannot accommodate you because you missed 2 of your intake appointments". This was never told to me on the phone after the first missed appointment. It was never stated in the voicemail I received after the second missed appointment. Instead I was told that it was policy so I guess I should have known better. I guess I should have never procrastinated on the intake forms due to my depression. I guess I should have never made an appointment the day of my flight due to my anxiety over going home. But here I am explaining my personal life on Yelp instead of talking to an understanding therapist which I wasn't given. If you like a place that is not going to give you another chance or ask how you're doing or why it was you didn't make your appointments and then when you apologize and plead you will make the next one only to be stonewalled, maybe give this place a shot. Also, just before the receptionist was ready to hang the phone up on me so she wouldn't have to hear more about my life or my "excuses" I asked her for any possible numbers and therapists that took my insurance because I had a very hard time finding anybody that took my specific insurance so she gave me one number and nicely said goodbye. I called the place she gave me and I asked if they took my insurance and they did not. So I'm a little upset so I thought I'd share my story of a place I wouldn't go to now even if they wanted me to because I've had therapists in the past who actually care to ask me questions before saying "we cannot accommodate you" when I payed the $200 in no show fees and called and apologized. I'm glad I didn't read the reviews first because it might have stopped me from trying this office. We have had nothing but a positive experience so far. Both receptionists have been lovely, helpful and timely. It's so hard to find a good therapist and I think we hit the jackpot. My daughter is in middle school and struggles with ADHD and all the typical teenage angst. Zoey has been lovely. They are still in the relationship building phase but it's been wonderful. My daughter feels like she has "her person" already. And isn't that all we can ask for as a parent... an expert who our children can confide in and gain tools and insights from?!? I'm so excited to watch their relationship deepen and for us to reap the benefits of great therapy. It's already been helpful and we've just begun. (Plus the waiting room is comfy and calming for the hour I have to wait and there's a gorgeous outdoor hidden path to explore complete with a little stream and ponds.) read more

I started here about 1.5 years ago and my first therapist had to continually cancel appointments due to health issues until she finally left the company. I asked to work with a new therapist and was told my only option was to go to one of their graduate student interns, because no one else had availability - even though I was an established patient. I've had to cancel a few appointments due to having a very busy life and working with conflicts. None of these appointments were consecutive. I received an email from a random administrative assistant that all my future appointments were being cancelled due to my cancellation history. Nothing from my therapist, no personal contact to make sure I'm ok or anything. For a place that works with people with mental health issues, I'm appalled that they would send a generic message like that from someone who doesn't even know me. This place completely screwed me over. My insurance sent me a check because this place was over charging. This business stated that the money was supposed to go to them. Here I am, 4 years later. I have been paying through collections because I didn't want them to garnish my wages. Now they are, even though I never had to pay them to begin with. This place was supposed to help with my mental problems and now, years later, they cause more stress. They weren't even that great anyways. read more

I do not recommend this facility for treatment. I know that there is a 36 hour cancellation fee but there should always be an exception to the rule. Especially when a person ends up in the hospital. I ended up in the hospital today and tried to cancel my appointment with 24 hours notice and am still going to be charged $50. Ending up in the hospital is not a choice I wanted to make. I am so sorry that my ending up in the hospital means that you do not care about your patients circumstances. read more

I think everyone needs therapy at some point in their life. Unfortunately for people living in Reno, there aren't a lot of options when it comes to medical professionals - resources are relatively scarce - but if you're in the Reno area looking for someone to talk to Great Basin Behavioral Health is way to go. I was speaking to Lisa Oliveto to manage some things in my life, and if there was a way to give more than 5 stars I would. She's INCREDIBLY effective, and her methods actually work as long as you put in the effort. Seeing her was the highlight of my week, and one of the few reasons I was sad to leave Reno was that I wouldn't see her anymore. But it's not just Lisa that's amazing. That whole office has a very warm and welcoming vibe. Jennifer works the front desk, and she will always greet you with a smile, and she really is so pleasant and sweet. There's even a little Frenchie running around at times! I didn't see Lisa as my therapist as much as I saw her as my friend - and at the risk of sounding corny, I shed tears during my last visit because I was sad to go. They specialize in a lot of different areas and there are multiple therapists there - so you're guaranteed to find someone to meet your needs! read more

I started going here when my therapist Sharline moved from renown to this office. Sharline is amazing. Unfortunately the office staff is some of the rudest people I have ever met. When you walk in they act like it is an inconvenience to check you in. They look miserable to be there. Find a better office to go to. read more
