So I'm a cake girl, but if I'm going to do cookies I've always preferred the delightfully crispy edged cookies.
Then last Saturday I saw a delicious photo from a fellow yelper and suddenly it morphed in my head into a very specific big, soft thick cookie full of walnuts... and maybe chocolate chips too.
Anyway, I couldn't get this cookie out of my head, I actually made my husband cookie hunt with me. Did you know there are actually cookie places that are closed on the weekends??
Anyway, this was the fourth place we went to. I originally thought this place only did cookie cakes, so I wasn't expecting to have any luck, but I was wrong!
In addition to cookie cakes for any occasion, they have 3 cases of cookies. From what I can tell they were almost all the soft and chewy kind.
The staff wasn't super engaged but they did tell me cookies are $1.79 each and asked me if I wanted to do the Buy 5, Get 1 Free deal and included a menu in the bag.
My favorite was definitely the peanut butter, it was soft and gooey and very peanut buttery, almost melting in my mouth. This makes me think their sugar cookie must be spot on too.
For my free cookie I asked about one with a weird name- maybe it was Strawberry Crinkle? Anyways, they told me it tasted like strawberry ice cream, so duh, I got that and they weren't that far off. More of a thin and chewy texture but soft and full of the promised flavor.
The oatmeal walnut raisin was the closest to what I was looking for and I'm not even into oatmeal cookies, but this was a good oatmeal cookie. I would have loved more walnuts but this delivers on most people's definition of a damn good cookie.
The pecan supreme wasn't bad either, but not as good as the oatmeal walnut, it was more dense. There was a cookies and cream cookie that did an admirable job, but was just too soft, almost like it was soggy and lacked flavor. There was another pecan one, I can't recall the exact name of it and it was really thin and flat and chewy in a rubberband way, so I only had one bite of that one.
The cookies keep for quite a while and even though those big soft chewy kind aren't typically my go to, these hit the spot and went great with a glass of milk later. I was pleasantly surprised.
It wasn't exactly what was in my head, but it did end my cookie hunt and allow me to move on with my day. :) read more
