I came in today just to get a fluid top off. The person who seemed to be in charge seemed nice at first then got very weird very quickly. First, they tried to get me to purchase unnecessary maintenance items which I very clearly did not want/was not there for. The person who was in charge was making me feel very uncomfortable and saying comments which were inappropriate. They also work with Big O Tires next door and try to get you to do business with both places which they wanted me to do and I respectfully declined. I will not be going back to this location. Service was perfectly fine at the Fort Collins, College Avenue location. Unfortunately, a mistake was made and a bolt was not reinstalled properly, resulting in a damaged part. Submitted a claim using the Grease Monkey online form and received no response. Called the location and talked with the service manager who agreed to reimburse me for the part. I followed-up with an email and photos. Heard nothing. Sent a letter with receipts and have had no response, now two months after the oil change. Mistakes happen. What you do about them speaks volumes. read more

I went in for a Mobil 1 oil change and was shocked at the price for one thing. They tried to upsell me on an engine air filter (I had just changed it ~5,000 miles ago so while it wasn't new, it also was not that dirty. Also tried to upsell me on two oil additives for high mileage vehicles which mine is, but I usually use Mobil 1 High Mileage so I declined that also. However, it was stormy and I was leaving on a road trip the next day and didn't have a dry place to do it at home so I had them service my vehicle. They were quick and when I left, I pulled out and got to a level place, shut off the engine and let it sit for a couple of minutes and then c hecked the engine oil level. It barely came up to midway between full and low. I was so disgusted and just went home instead of going back to complain. It took a little over half a quart to bring it up to full. It was bad enough that they overcharged (total cost was over $130!) for the premium Mobil 1, but to then short me over half a quart so they could skim another couple of bucks on the deal is just unacceptable. I will never go back there again. This is the kind of thing that can poison a business and exactly why I almost always do my own oil changes. I would give them a ZERO rating if I could. read more

I will not go back to this location. The guy in charge 12/31/2024 at 2:00 PM was rude and made no effort to help or suggest where to go when the latch on my hood wouldn't work and just told me to come back when I got it open. I was able to get the hood open in 10 seconds when I got home, so I went back for my SCHEDULED service (roughly 20 minutes later). The same guy came around the side of the building as I pulled up and informed me they were closed. I went to Jiffy Lube down the road, and they pleasantly took care of my truck very quickly (even though they were swamped) AND they washed my windows and filled a couple chips in the windshield at no charge. It looks like I found my new place already. BTW I am an older, gray-haired woman, so I am used to being invisible, but this guy went above and beyond in making me feel like I wasn't worth his time. These guys are thorough extremely nice, and most of all they care about doing the right job and not leaving you hanging with a leaky oil filter or something like that my oil filter was leaking Had a bad O-ring on it brought it in. They swapped it out no problem I've had exceptional service in this location and the guy in the pit knows what he's doing. Absolutely abhorrent I had to download Yelp due to how outraged I am. I had brought my Jeep in for an oil change last weekend, and a few days later my plastic skid shield fell off of my vehicle while I was driving and made a horrific noise as it slammed into my tire, holding on by merely ONE BOLT! The fact that the technicians could not even be bothered to fasten some bolts makes me highly skeptical that the rest of the oil change procedure was even done properly. On top of that, after reviewing my receipt I noticed that a list of things that were check as done, that most certainly were NOT done (I was in the car the whole time) An example of this is them stating the PSI for my front and rear tires were set at 35, when they never even check my tire pressure (my tires are all at 38). Overall, if you are want to entrust your vehicle to strangers, this is certainly not the place to do it. read more

I had a great experience here today. Nicole was so helpful and knowledgeable! Love seeing a competent lady in what could be considered a "man's industry". I came in with a Valpak coupon for an oil change and tire rotation on my 2011 Subaru Forester...the total came to $45 which I consider very competitive. The normal price was $55. I did also opt to have the air cabin filter changed when they showed me how filthy it was. Nicole went over some other things I may want to consider in the future, including a couple services they don't even perform. I love Grease Monkey, it is where we bring all our vehicles, but this is the WORST Grease Monkey I have ever been to. Tried them 3 times, and we received horrible service every time. First, they lied about serviced they provided because they were closing in the next hour and didn't feel like serving my car. The following time, the service provider was extremely rude and tried to tell me that the most expensive service was the only service they provided. The third (and last) time we went there, they did not acknowledge our existence for over 5 minutes (even though they werent working) and was EXTREMELY rude when I engaged them. I went in to Grease Monkey at the N. College Ave. location in Fort Collins for an oil change; the service was fast and the techs were all very friendly! I was in and out in 30 mins and their checklist was very thorough! After the full synthetic oil change, they checked all other engine fluid levels, and reset the engine maintenance warning lights for me so I knew when my next oil change was due. Meh service - needed a full synthetic change, gave me two options on oil, tech couldn't tell me the difference between the two then gave me a bit of an attitude when I tried to make a decision on the zero info he wanted to provide. I had a wiring issue causing my check engine to come on caused me to come in to Grease Monkey get my car scanned for an error code. Due to this wiring issue, the scanners wouldn't read an error code, but all the mechanics at Grease Monkey were extremely helpful (especially Joseph!). They topped off my fluids, no charge, and reset my system just to make sure it wasn't a fluid issue. I'll definitely return again if something else ever comes up. read more

The oil change was fine, it was the up-sell that made me unhappy. The manager told me my brakes were at 30% and needed replaced. He pressured me to have the service done with them after I said I'd just take it to my mechanic. I declined the service and am glad I did. After a month of worrying I finally had the chance to take it to a mechanic who said my brakes were at 80% -- they still have 20,000 miles on them! The moral: Always get a second opinion. read more

Wow, I am surprised this location has such poor reviews. I'll be honest, I'm not usually the one that does the car maintenance, so I was not even sure the procedure on pulling my car around (pretty sad, I know.. but we all have to learn sometime!) Anyways, as soon as I pulled up, I was greeted with a warm welcome and two attentive employees. They took a look at my coupon (Valpak.. look it up, I printed mine off $15 off a synthetic/diesel oil change) and told me they would take care of the rest. The waiting room was clean, had plenty of magazines, was air conditioned, had free wifi, free coffee, and a clean bathroom. While they were checking out my car an employee came in twice to tell me what they were doing and how things were looking. In the end, I was given a fair price and told that my car was in tip top shape. I was not pressured into any additional services. My coupon was taken and I was given $5 off my next visit! I really did not like my experience here. I am not familiar with cars at all and I really rely on honest people to help me and not take advantage, which may be my own downfall. I felt very taken advantage of here with the particular person I was helped by. Everyone else there was great but I ended up paying over a hundred dollars for a oil change. I asked for a regular oil change and they used special oil, flushed my system, and so on so that it cost me so much more. I felt so embarrassed and a fool. I took the car in the for the first time in years because my husband was busy and we wanted the oil changed before the holiday trip. I knew that upselling services was part of the deal, so I wasn't surprised to be called out to our car to be shown a dirty air filter. I knew we could change that ourselves so I declined that service. Then the technician apologetically asked how long it had been since the last oil change and showed me the oil on the dipstick, saying it was orange because of carbon buildup and an engine flush would keep the carbon from damaging other parts of the engine. Not knowing about engine flushes but suspecting that we had gone long on the oil change, I asked how much it would cost, misunderstood the price and agreed. I was shocked to pay double what I expected at the check out, the still-apologetic technician took $10 off and I went home to look up engine flushes. A Popular Mechanics article on the web titled "Five Car Maintenance Procedures You Don't Need: Scam Watch" told me all I needed to know. Grease Monkey, the entire chain, should be ashamed of building a business model that involves selling scam services. Neither my husband, who was angry that I fell for the engine flush nonsense, nor I, will ever patronize the chain again. I do not mind being offered valid services that technicians might notice are needed, but an outright scam? Grease Monkey's business ethics need to be flushed. read more

I am most often pleased with the service and experience at Grease Monkey locations, but unfortunately today has threatened my continued use of the chain at all. I visited the 1500 N. college location, and these guys didn't just do a poor job, they didn't do their job at all. I came in needing a typical full service oil change and very clearly needed new wipers... One didn't even have a blade on it. They also said they checked my tire pressure and fluids... Not sure if they did that either. The only thing I think they did do is make sure to tell me I need to "flush my engine" for an extra 20 bucks to "clean it out". I think if you're going to charge for a full service oil change, you had better do it. I paid 40 bucks, then noticed they hadn't changed the wipers and went back, and they just said they didn't tell me that my wipers were ok (uhh it's on the receipt...) and that it'd be another 40 to put them on. Seriously? Not even a sorry-we-missed-that discount? Now I have to doubt that all the other "checked-ok" items listed on my receipt were actually checked, and go to a third party to confirm them. I don't know a lot about cars and I rely on your service to help me maintain my vehicle, and to just attempt to up sell me on useless services while not even performing standard ones is offensive to me. read more

This place was very honest and they even helped me find some deals that helped me save some money. They even helped me when I had a miscommunication about what I needed. What a horrible experience, I wish I would have checked reviews. My car requires DEXOS specified oil, but these guys couldn't explain whether or not they had a comparable product. This should have been enough of a warning. Once the oil change was complete, they tried charging $90!!!, explaining this is customary and standard cost. I complained that it seemed unreasonable, so I was offered a one-time adjustment that brought it down to $70. I mentioned it still seemed high compared to my last oil change at the dealership, but he didn't budge. I called the dealership and confirmed my last DEXOS oil change was $50. With this information, Grease Monkey matched the $50 price. Shady! Poor business! I will never go back and feel they tried taking advantage. read more

They have a new manager there as of 6 days ago and the experience was excellent. They fit me in very close to closing, were very efficient with the oil change, and even showed me the new fluid levels to confirm proper levels went back in the car. They also gave me a coupon discount proactively, without me asking for one. I highly recommend this place and will absolutely bring my car there again. Went in for a routine oil change on my 14 year old well maintained vehicle. Had a coupon, they put me in line and immediately put a later arrival in front of me for service (who also had a coupon). Pulled it in, changing the oil and tell me it needs wipers. They are 3 months old but hey whatever, I politely decline. Then they come in and say it needs a fuel filter, $65.00. I know for a fact they are $15 or so at Autozone. I decline (very polite the whole time by the way). Vehicle runs great anyway so unlikely a problem. The tech then proceeds to pull my vehicle out, and set in on the exit ramp where it sits for 20 minutes while they work on some poor saps diesel pickup. They are selling him every add in the book, probably a $500.00 service or more. Made me wait for no reason to check out, totally intentional, my read was "if you don't take adds we don't want your business". No problem, I won't come back. Newsflash: some people just want an oil change, no more. Maybe they can't afford the adds. Do you want that business? read more

Always had good service here. NEW MANAGEMENT has made a big difference. Customers are asked, not pressured into services. (Can't say that about a tire store trying to schedule shocks for my truck tho.) The guys show customers things of concern on the vehicles. Always seen mistakes taken care of quickly, and mistakes happen everywhere. Most have shirts tucked in, a couple don't, but I like seeing the professionalism of tucked shirts. Looks sloppy to me is all, doesn't affect the work. Never had a problem with them, have recommended them, and will continue to do so. They ask if I'm interested in a recommended service and explain why it's needed, and/or tell me if things can wait. If I think a price is to much, I ask about it, and never been overcharged for all they do. I hate being told what I want because I'm a woman, and thankfully these guys don't treat me like that. read more
