First - those who know me will tell you I am a stickler for details. I thoroughly vet vendors and merchants, and am very frank with my reviews. I sent Salcido's Concrete Works the HOA-approved specs of the patio we wanted - extend the existing builder-installed patio, and span the back of the house (prep for pergola some day). While my measurements were close, Salcido double checked and remeasured to ensure accuracy. We had some bidders tell us rebar was not needed. But I know better given the rocky clay we have. SCW included rebar in their build. Their quote was very reasonable, and they stayed in our budget (even when my husband tried to change mid-stream and upgrade the rocks! Lucy and I worked it out). The crew showed up on time, got to work, cleaned up after themselves. They were polite, professional. We had a cooler full of water and gatorade for them. They had their own refreshments (didn't expect any from us) but appreciated and accepted our offer. Face it - it is hot and hard physical labor. When they arrived, they checked the yard irrigation to ensure what needed to be moved or capped. We opted NOT to cap the ones closest to the house so that the foundation can be watered. They prepared the base, set the frame, installed rebar, poured concrete - all in one day. Then filled in the open areas with road gravel as I requested. I did this to allow for easy install of posts for the pergola we want some day. The patio is sloped properly, and at least 4 inch thick. I posted two pictures. One shows our temporary fence (chicken wire) we put up to keep our 3 large dogs (doberman, mastiff, bull terrier) off while it cured. Our kids home from college were surprised and impressed. Additionally the slab was poured over a drainage path and they didn't recommend laying a drainage PVC pipe which we were unfamiliar with but other companies our neighbors used all did. When we brought to water puddling to their attention we were told it wasn't their responsibility and that they would have charged more for it which means they knew it was necessary.

The signed…read morecontract included surface preparation, stucco application, stone installation, mantle/hearth detailing, finishing, final touch-ups, and cleanup. Some of the initial stonework looked good, and I complimented the work during the project. Unfortunately, serious issues arose after the hearth slabs were installed. The hearth slab installation did not match the approved rendering/design, and all four hearth slab pieces had issues, including poor cuts/joints, visible gouges/scrapes, and a visible front-edge chip that was filled with mortar instead of being properly corrected. These were not natural stone variations, veining, or normal imperfections. The slabs were damaged during handling and/or installation. After I requested replacement/correction, Hector eventually agreed that the damaged hearth stone would be replaced. After that, communication deteriorated and the company did not return to complete the correction or the remaining contracted work. Tello Stone Work & Concrete later told me they did not want to finish the project, even though we had a signed contract covering the remaining work, including stucco application, finishing, final touch-ups, and cleanup. They also stated that stucco was not part of the original quoted scope, even though the signed contract specifically included stucco application. The project was left incomplete, cleanup was not completed, and I was left with a damaged/problematic hearth, unfinished stucco work, delays, stress, and the added cost of finding another contractor willing to complete/correct partially completed work. The company offered a full refund of my $1,800 deposit, but later stated they would only refund it if I allowed them to remove/demolish installed stone/materials from my fireplace. I did not agree to allow demolition or removal because of the risk of additional damage to the existing structure/fireplace. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Tello Stone Work & Concrete for a detailed custom finish project. I have photos, the signed contract, emails, and text messages documenting my experience.

The cost of paving was higher than what I thought it would be but then again have never had anything paved nor have I ever received a quote from any other paving company so just higher than what I hoped it would be in my mind I guess! Ha If we end up getting some paving work done by them in the future and they do a good job I'll update my review at that point. All I have to go off of at this point is timely message reply and pictures of their previous jobs.

I had a previous experience with another driveway contractor that I hired and paid to do my driveway. The other contractor started the driveway, but never came close to completing it. After 2 month of excuses from this contractor, I hired Asphalt Maintenance & Construction. Prior to hiring Asphalt Maintenance & Construction, I explained to the owner John that based on my experience with the other contractor, I was reluctant to pay anything up front. John told me he would not take any money until the job was completed to my satisfaction. Again, he completed the work in 1 day, and it looked fantastic, and I was happy to pay upon final inspection.
