I have been to Niagara Falls many times over the years. However I had never done a tour. I was taking a friend who had never been there and we stopped at the rest stop on I-90 and talked to a man at the information center. He asked if we had a hotel which we did and he started telling us about the guided tour. We decided to sign up for $129. Per person which included Cave of the winds, Maid of the Mist / Goat Island and Whirlpool State Park. Our guide was Larry a knowledgeable guy with a fantastic voice (He could be a sportscaster or do voice overs on a Commercial!) he drove about a dozen of us on a little bus to all the locations and telling us all kinds of interesting facts and threw in some jokes along the way! My friend and I had a great time and made some friends along the way. I highly recommend the tour! When you think of the driving, paying for parking and paying for each experience, it was well worth it. So glad I got to be a part of Larry's Legends!!! read more

The highlight of this tour is the maid of the mist... and no fault of the tour Co there's a 2 hour plus wait to get on the boat. Apparently, they're running only one boat now and at a third capacity thanks to corona. Had I known in advance of this wait time, I would have passed on it, and the maid tour. The fact that it wasn't mentioned in advance is why I'm giving it only 3 stars. Not sure how they will fit the rest of the sites in after spending over 3 hours at the maid site alone. read more

American tour review: Wow!!! What a great experience with Darin! He made sure everyone could hear him which was awesome and he had lots of great tacts to share along the ride. The whole experience took about six hours so make sure you have the whole day to explore. We made about 4 stop where we got off the bus. While the Maid of the Mist is certainly a must see, our favorite was the Cave of the Winds! It was so awesome to feel like we were right next to the waterfall. For part of the tour we were with our tour guide the whole time and then at different stops he would let us out to explore. He was always very clear about exactly when to be back and where to meet. It was great to know exactly what we were doing and feel like we had someone making sure we were taken care of! I highly recommend this tour experience and I would ask for Darin if I were you! He was a delight! One other cool thing was that Darin made us feel like a team (there were 27 of us on the bus). He had group cheers and team captains. The tour had many adults, couples, and families with children. While the group was very diverse, there was something for everyone and he made sure that all of us were entertained. One note, the tour guides live off of gratuity. You want to make sure you have cash on hand (15% of the ticket price) to give to your tour guide. Believe me, they work for it! Wish I knew then what I know now. I would've stayed far away from this tour! The bus didn't have working A.C., & if that were the only issue I probably would've given 3-4 stars. HOWEVER I don't even want to give 1 star! We rode with "Chris' Barrel Riders". The driver (Chris) was SUPER nice, the other Chris (tour guide also named Chris) was just AWFUL. From the moment we boarded the bus, he was rude & arrogant towards my party of 6. The bus was a small group, maybe 20 total. You might as well say my 6 weren't part of it though (except transport)! I can't even count how many times he left us behind, gave us little to no info, & provided incorrect bus depart times. Chris was cocky, rushy & lacked empathy to my Mother who walked slower than the group because she has a cane. My family & I are usually generous over-tippers, at min. 20% or higher - but after this unprofessionalism we didn't bother tipping at all. Read more to find out why. Before departure, Chris mentioned a "surprise" added stop: power plant. He presented this as "a treat" but in hindsight, it made our tour much more rushed. When we arrived at the plant, the doors were locked (unusual). Another tour group of 17 was waiting outside, ahead of us. Chris called & the receptionist was confused why the doors were locked. She had to clear with security to figure out if everything was fine before letting us in. It was, so she did. Okay, so in all fairness this several minute hold up wasn't his fault - but once the doors were unlocked he sped inside [past the group ahead of us which was rude, as well] with the approx.14 guest from our group, & didn't bother to turn around, wave us or yell back to skip the desk, basically leaving our 6 behind and unsure. We were stuck behind the 17 who got to the desk 1st. We waited at the front desk to speak with receptionist & did not know where the rest of our group took off to. We couldn't see them and were in unfamiliar territory. Not only did we not expect to go to this plant in the first place, we did not know what to expect once we arrived (you'll hear me say that last part again). Fast forward about 5+ mins, Chris comes speed walking back & GIVES US AN ATTITUDE that everyone else is outside waiting on us! (He made it like our fault we were holding up the tour. It was his! How do we know when he didn't inform us!?) We advised him we were stuck in line behind that other group & got badges. He gave a "shoo-shoo" type hand gesture like oh you don't even need those. We asked why, he said "because! We're not spending 3-4 hours here!"(Again in an unnecessarily rude tone.) Once we got to the deck he sped-talked his way through what he wanted to say & we could tell he was annoyed not only at us but at the power plant because he said something like "we send most of our power to NYC and they pay less for power than we locals do" (why is that relevant to our tour?). Then we went to watch a short film & left. Pointless. The next couple of stops were pretty bad, too, especially when we got to the park and he left us. We did not know what to expect here either. He and the group power walked (again, leaving us) & he showed zero empathy towards my Mother who was doing her best to keep up, walking with her cane. Once he got to his stopping point he gave his spiel to the group (sans, us 6), and we only realized this when we caught up to them at the very end of his speech. When he finished we though maybe he'd give us - at the very least - an abbreviated version, but instead he sat there bullsh*tting with part of the group, just small talk etc. So we did our own thing in reading about the place and taking pictures. Once he said it was time to go, he walked at a semi-normal pace for a while but it seems once he passed my mom who was resting at a bench 1/2 way point, he sped up again! It was like he was TRYING to lose and avoid us. At one point we almost caught up to them (en route back to bus) and we thought Chris should have (and COULD HAVE) dropped back a bit to at least split the difference (to be between the group of 14 ahead and the 6 of us, behind). Instead, they power walked their way to the bus. When we got to the bus he used the fakest voice to say how are we doing ladies did you enjoy it here? We all looked at one another like is this guy for real? At the stop for lunch he seemed pissed off that we brought sandwiches (*which btw was a recommendation from a worker in the welcome center!), & when we were in the souvenir shop he & another person there were gossiping about their managers/other tour guides! In front of us! Oh - let's not forget that at two different stops - he gave us inaccurate times to meet back at bus. He should have just left our itinerary alone so we had more time at the planned stops! He should have set expectations when we arrived at each stop! His level of unprofessionalism was appalling. If I knew then, what I know now, we would have skipped the tour and done our own time read more

Our tour guide was a gentleman named Darin. He was a delightful guide and knew his subject matter. He made certain that everyone in the group could hear him. He kept a group a middle and high school students entertained for the entire day at Niagara Falls - this is not an easy task. If you use this tour company in Niagara Falls, ask for Darin. read more

We were in Niagara Falls last week and signed up for the Canadian day tour through gray line. We weren't really sure what to expect since it was our first visit to both Canada and the Falls. Our tour guide was Joe V. And he was terrific. He was knowledgeable and patient and funny and he helped make our tour the best day of our two week trip to the northeast. I highly recommend this tour. It will take you into the skylon tower, to the Falls themselves, on the boat that goes right up to the falls and various landmarks around Ontario. Just a fun and educational day. read more

At first I honestly thought we were getting scammed. The place for pickup was in our hotel parking lot and we just walked across to inquire about the tour. supposedly only 2 seats left for the tours the next day blah blah, great value, everything sells out etc so we took those seats. After we paid for the tour I was nervous that we had in fact been scammed. The tour was today July 5th at 815 am with Rickie. Needless to say there was no scam, no deceit, nothing negative at all. Rickie was comical, probably because I have a similar sense of humor and he made sure he talked to everyone in the group personally throughout the day. Our tour was in fact sold out along with every other tour today. Maid of the mist, cave of the wind sold completely out for the day by 1pm while we waited to leave. At 12pm they were selling the 9pm tours. This tour ensures you do both of those events included in the price, you are also guaranteed to be able to visit all of the islands. You dont even have to drive into the trainwreck of downtown. I cant recommend this tour enough, especially if you get Rickie. read more

My family of 5 participated in a 4 hour tour that ended up being closer to 6 hours when all was said and done. Harvey, our tour guide, was amazingly knowledgeable and very patient. My dad is 82 and Harvey was very patient with all the frequent pit stops my father requires. Harvey apparently has been in the business for a long time and I see why he is so successful at it. Unfortunately our bus (#121) had very very little air conditioning, and almost none in the back, which is not Harvey's fault, but it is a reflection upon the company. Because of the extremely hot and uncomfortable conditions, our family, who mostly sat in the rear of the bus, really had a hard time hearing any part of the tour that was delivered in the bus. The air conditioning unit, even though barely working, was very loud. In addition, the heat made it hard to concentrate at times. Also our bus did not arrive at our appointed spot (rear parking lot of the Continental Pancake House) until about 20 minutes after the appointed time. Which was fine for us, but just something to note for future travelers. Still, we had a terrific (albeit very sweaty) time - cave of the winds, maid of mist, views and explanations of the history of the Niagara region. Harvey was exceptional in that he steered us away from the high priced souvenir pit holes and the expensive photo ops and instead had us save our money for other things. I would highly recommend this tour, as I believe that our air conditioning problem was a one-off issue, and a company that hired seasoned vets like Harvey must be doing the right thing! Still, I had to take off one start because our specific experience was just so darn uncomfortable every single second we were in the bus! read more

We had a wonderful experience yesterday on the Grayline American side tour. Our tour guide was Tom, he does the American tours Monday-Thursday at 10:30 am. I can not recommend him enough. He has a genuine love and connection to the area. His professionalism and joy in his work is abundant. We saw the falls, the cave of the winds, goat island, the whirlpool area and took the maid of the mist ride. What a great day and experience it was. read more

During our trip to Niagara Falls we booked the 4 hr. late afternoon tour on the Canadian side and the 4 hr. morning tour on the NY side. In regards to the tour on the Canadian side we have never been so disappointed in a tour guide and the tour. Unfortunately our tour guide Kat, had an accident earlier in the day where she had injured her finger and that may have contributed to blahness of her tour. She repeatedly asked us for a pain relief pill, Really if you are in that much pain, get another driver. This tour is definitely not worth the money to just drive by most of the attractions and not get off to see them. We could have taken the WEGO bus and got off at the stops and been able to walk around and have a better time for less money. We did take the WEGO bus to a couple of attractions and the bus driver was more informative and more personable than our tour guide. The morning tour on the NY side was better, however it was not worth the money. Do not recommend this tour line for the price or the information. read more

Rita we loved you!!! And Suzette (who actually booked it) gave us info that saved us a ton of money ratting free at the casino on crab leg night. (Saved us $95) thank you!! Rita is professional, knowledgeable, and a hoot to ride with!! We loved her and you can tell she loves her job. So much information she pumped to us but not like your typical tours. She made it fun interesting and made the whole group like family helping each other through the sites. And she also saved us money but telling what to avoid and how to get the same thing ether cheaper. Or pointers when and where to get your pictures and not have miss the large gathering of many tours coming to same place. We had the info to bet the crowd and get our pictures when it was least packed. All around I hope you get Rita as we had 0 complaints. And believe me I'm quick to call out even the tiniest complaint. We were extremely disappointed in this tour. The tour guide Serena is not in the right job. She barely gave any extra facts about the Falls or the town, which is what I'm used to guides doing. She didn't organize the group well. The cost of the tour includes the price of the Maid of the Mist and the Cave of the Winds, which was worth less than 40 bucks. 60 bucks more for being driven around to free spots that we could have walked to... Definitely not worth the price. Seriously, just pay the price for the two entrances and take the trolley between the two. Much better value! read more

NIAGARA FALLS TOUR: Debbie made the tour fun and was very knowledgeable. We did the Canadian Rainbow Tour and I am very glad I decided to take a tour rather than just rent a car and go myself. So much more to see and know than I imagined - and although the boat ride was better than I could have dreamed - it was truly awesome - it was not the only thing to see and do. Plus, Grey Line gave me a much more reasonable price for pick-up/drop-off at my downtown Buffalo hotel than any of the other options. Highly recommended - well worth the money. read more

We really enjoyed our tour of the American side of the falls. Harvey was a great guide and very knowledgeable. The pick up was over 25 minutes late though and the air conditioning in the back of the van was non existent. That was ok until it took 55 minutes to get back to the Canadian side at the end of the day. We could have fried food on the windows with the heat. The company needs to better maintain their vehicles for their customers' safety. Overall, the day was fun with visits to the Cave of the Winds, the Gorge where the whirlpool is, and the Maid of the Mist ride. read more

We loved our tour! Our driver, Lori, was very knowledgeable and willing to answer questions. She definitely likes her job, which makes a big difference. Our hotel was on the Canadian side, so we loved the fact that the bus picked us up at the hotel and brought us back at the end of the tour. The tour included all the right stops and we did not need to search for them. It included: Goat Island & Cave of the Winds, the Whirlpool, short lunch stop, and the Maid of the Mist & US Observation Tower. Great time! read more

We took two separate tours on different days. I highly recommend these tours if this is your first visit to the falls. They take you to the most popular attractions and you eliminate the parking hassles. They get the tickets for you and you get to cut the line in most attractions. They are family friendly and both days had great, friendly and informative guides. They allowed plenty of time to see everything. Would have liked more time for lunch and shopping but we shopped on our own afterward. No biggie. Both tours were on a smaller bus (24ppl) and we became friends with many others on the bus. it was a very positive experience. read more

Gray Line Tours in Niagra Falls SUCKS. The sales agent (409) Kathy at Sheraton Niagra Falls sold me 3 passes for the 4 hour tour. The next day at pick up time, the driver had no record of it. The driver and agent at the desk tried to figure out what had happened. It took 25 minutes for Kathy to call and let me know she forgot to call it in. I had several things planned around that. She said all she could do is apologize and put me in another tour. That would have changed my other plans. Thanks for screwing up my day trip to Niagra Falls with my daughter Kathy. I plan to discourage anyone from choosing Gray Line. read more

Dropped my son at college and had lots of time to kill .. So we decided to take a tour to Niagra fall. For $95 it was well worth it. It was amazing seeing the water fall so closed. Larry was very patient and such a comedian. I would highly recommend everyone to take this tour. read more

We just returned from a 10 day vacation to NYC, Boston, Niagara Falls and Connecticut, this by far is the activity that my kids (ages 8 & 17) are still talking about, as well as my husband and I. Debbie was sweet and funny and it was very apparent to us how much she loves her job. We learned so much and never felt bored. Because we came at the beginning of the tourist season there was only one other couple on the bus with us and I'm so happy the tour wasn't cancelled. It was so nice to be able to spread out and ride in comfort and ask questions when they came up. Deb made sure we were kept informed of the whole process including customs which made us feel more comfortable to go back on our own in the evening. The door to door service was perfect for us as my husband had hurt his knee on the first leg of our trip. Not having to worry about standing in lines for tickets or wondering where to park made our day that much more enjoyable. We only spent 2 days in Niagara Falls and doing this tour was the smartest use of our time. We saw far more in those 4 hours than we would have on our own. I have told all of our family and friends that they must go to Niagara Falls and they must do this tour! We will be back! read more
