All it took was one visit for us to decide that Grays will be our go to from here on out. Most definitely a hidden gem. I stopped in on a whim just to get a gun part engraved but left with a job well done plus a smiling heart. Upon arrival I was greeted by Mrs. Gray and their sweet pups who gave me a ride back to the shop on the golf cart. Mr. Gray took me straight into the shop and was engraving within minutes. While their website claims they have the capacity to handle "commercial engraving" orders, this shop was ultimately overwhelmed by the quantity of our order (500) of engraved steel plates. While initially their communication was fantastic, this changed as time went on, and I think they realized they would not be able to meet the quality of the initial prototype they had showed us. The resulting plates were unreadable and yet this company still sent them as if there were no product defects. In addition, they then tried to blame any defects (including fairly major scratches) on their steel supplier. We will never be using this shop again, and would not recommend them, particularly if you are a small business that values quality. read more

First off, please let me tell you that I am from Round Rock, Texas which is about 10 miles north of the Austin Metropolitan area. I don't normally write reviews but frequently read them--which is actually how I found Gray Laser Engraving. After having the most wonderful customer service experience, I felt compelled to pass on and tell you how great this small business really is. After reading a few reviews on a different forum, I decided to make the 118 mile drive from my house to Gray Laser Engraving. Granted, it was off the beaten path a little bit, but it was very easy to find with the aid of modern technology (GPS). Upon arrival, I was greeted by Bill in the driveway and taken to the workshop area where I was made welcome to sit down and relax. As Bill set up my rifle receiver for engraving, we engaged in great conversation and learned that we both shared a similar hobby in motorcycle riding. Then, on came the laser!!! If you have never seen this process before.....WOW!!! Totally impressive!!! While peering through a pair of protective glasses provided by Bill, I witnessed one of the coolest things I had ever seen. It is jaw dropping and amazing to see how light can cut through metal with such precision and accuracy. The whole process took about 30 minutes and the finished product was exactly what I was expecting. Gray Laser offers service via mail, drop off or "while you wait" but make sure you have an appointment for the latter. Other reviews said that he provides a very quick turnaround (2-3 days) compared to other businesses who have a 2-3 week wait. The cool part about my experience with Bill Gray was that he invited me into his workshop and allowed me to be a part of the whole process. I am extremely pleased with the customer service that Bill & Kathy Gray provided to me, and they come highly recommended. They were well worth the 236 mile round-trip from Austin to San Antonio. Terrible experience!!!! Engraved my product wrong, had to ship it back on my dime for repairs!!! Had to constantly email company for updates on repairs? Owner claims i under paid for engraving just to suck it up on shipping. Waited almost 18 days for repairs? I highly do not recommend. I feel I should've gotten a full refund for the botch job but owner says I should be lucky that he was able to fix HIS MISTAKE??? read more
