My good friend has a cabin in Tahoe City very close to the Alpine Ski resort. He wanted to get some mountain biking in before the start of the ski season. Initially I was not receptive to the idea having not ridden a mountain bike in a while. However, he had recently purchased one of those electric mountain bikes that assists with pedal movements, and said it changed his perspective on the activity. Being in my mid-forties, I liked the concept of an electric bike. After calling several shops in the area who did not have bikes available for rent, Mike was the only business willing to offer such a service. I decided to go with a Da Vinci electric mountain bike at a reasonable daily rate. I had recalled soreness on my inner butt cheeks the last time I went mountain biking and decided to purchase padded pants as well as gloves. The electric mountain biking experience quickly changed my view on the activity which I may very well take up again next year. I would have considered purchasing the bike on the spot at the very reasonable price he was willing to offer. However, I wasn't 100% on board to make a purchase at that time. If and when I ever do decide to purchase an electric mountain bike, I will make a purchase from Mike's shop. He's a down to earth chap, and appears to know a lot about the sport. read more

Mike and Yoda (shop French Bulldog). So I'm 35 ex-athlete and my girl is marathon runner both w/ dinosaur bikes and its time to 'bike-up'. So we begin looking..... PS i'm OCD and cannot be hard-selled! Needless to say BOUGHT 2 bikes in 3 months because Gravity Shop owner Mike ( ...and Yoda of course) took hours of time to re-educate my 5+ yr old bike knowhow and rode numerous times w/ me and my lady. This is my go-to bike shop when I'm up in Tahoe. No frills, but has everything you need. Bought my fat tire bike here and love that Mike has several brands you can demo. Mike knows what he's doing and has a good eye for stocking the shelves with good products. His prices are more than fair, his work is solid, and he's an honest guy. I had a blow-out (not just a flat - bang, your inner tube is shredded) and he was able to get me back on the road in about 10 minutes. He also adjusted my brakes at no charge. The price was very reasonable. We were so impressed with the service we went back the next day to buy a pump, and he was very helpful then, too. Very helpful. We just needed a new tube for a tire, which they replaced for us in about 5 minutes. Just what we needed - quick and easy!

Mike is an amazing mechanic and knows what's up. After replacing my chain he realized that the entire drive train needed to be swapped out. Completed the repairs in record time and at a fair cost. Shifting smooth now. Also redid the seals on both my shock and fork the year before and have been great ever sense. If I could give 0 stares I would. How can you treat people with such disrespect and rudeness, especially if you are the owner. Asking a question about a product you carry shouldn't result in disrespectful answers. I visited this shop twice this summer and both times was treated like I was asking dumb questions or bothering the owner. I felt like maybe because I bought a used bike instead of a bike from him that I offended him somehow even though I was looking for parts for the bike in his shop. Most recently I tried to ask some questions about the Dakine pickup pads and ended up walking out of his shop half way through the conversation he was being so rude with his answers. I guess he doesn't want my money. I highly recommend going to Olympic Bikes just down the street from this guy if you are in Tahoe City. The customer service and stoke from all the staff at Olympic Bikes is way better than this guy. I would love to hear a response from the owner but doubt he cares as he seemed to act way too cool to talk to me with any kindness.
