im sorry to hear the negative reviews of graves labradors because it might lead people to think gina graves is a bad breeder which couldn't be further from the truth.. im not minimizing the giardia outbreak or the fact that ginas place will never be a contender for better homes and gardens BUT those 2 things do not change the fact that gina breeds THE MOST INTELLIGENT, HEALTHY & GORGEOUS labs! our puppy, shay, is 9 month old now and we are in awe of her! her intelligence is off the charts in so many ways.. she learns new things incredibly fast.., house breaking, leash walking, sit, stay & heel, etc.. she 'retrieved a ball the very first day we brought her home.. she creates games for herself (I. E. putting her ball behind the couch cushions to so she can 'find' it, going thru a 'tunnel' to retrieve her ball just because it's fun, etc.) she walked perfectly on a leash after 2 walks because she 'got' the idea right away.. people would comment on this little puppy walking next to my husband like an adult dog! she's confident and not afraid of anything.. she dove off our pool deck without a moments hesitation! (of course my husband was right there to catch her) she LOVES everyone she see! she gets herself into a fit of jumping and barking (we're working on that:) because she can't believe her good fortune of friends! she's THE MOST affectionate dog ive ever owned! from the moment we got her she was touchy-feely.. she lays on our feet if she can't lay on us! we might have just lucked out with this exceptional dog but i tend to think our puppy is the way she is BECAUSE of the way gina breeds.. gina is not a micro manager.. she let's the canine instincts that nature gives take thier course and intervenes when/if it's necessary.. she let's her dogs be dogs and with that philosophy balance develops and BALANCED DOGS are allowed to develop.. she doesn't coddle the dogs or puppies & that makes for a non-needy dog but she doesn't neglect them either.. (& yes, they have toys and a raised bed for mommy in their kennels) i knew gina was doing something right when we pulled up to her place the first time and about 10 or so of her dogs came to the fence.. NOT ONE DOG was barking or out of control.. they simply came to the fence to see who the visitor was & once they saw us they laid back down as a pack! that was a balanced pack of dogs! (a previous review of dogs fighting each other seems made up or he saw a one off situation) i went out to see my puppy 4 or 5 different times before we could take her home and i always saw this same calm scenario.. my main point is that in my experience with gina im convinced she is an educated and loving breeder and her breeding dogs and our puppy prove that to me.. read more

This was the worst lab breeder I've ever been to- literally one step above a puppy mill or hoarder! The dogs run around on a dirt lot with dirty water tanks to cool off in. The poop was thick. The 30+ dogs were mixed in together and were fighting with each other. The puppies were kept in indoor/outdoor runs with no toys and dirty water. One of the young dogs was attacked by another one and had her sinus cavity and growth plate in her jaw punctured. She now has a permanent defect that causes her breathing issues and eating problems. They also had birds, cockatiels in a dirty cage with limited shade. Turkeys were missing feathers and were panting and laying in filth. This breeder also does NOT vaccinate Any of her dogs for rabies (probably because this would require taking them to a vet). She only uses pyrantel to deworm her dogs, which would be fine in a normal kennel situation, but in an overcrowding situation the dogs come with diarrhea. read more

Grave's Labradors Sells Sick Puppies. Unfortunately, we purchased a puppy from Graves. When we showed up to bring him home, we were told he had a sickness (Giardia) that she told us was "no big deal" & she sent us home with medicine to administer for it. Regrettably, we found out Giardia IS a big deal. We have spent the first five-and-a-half months of our puppy's time with us, and literally hundreds of dollars, trying to get rid of the Giardia. When we attempted to contact the owner to make things right, we were ignored. Be informed that Giardia runs rampant at this breeding sight. We would have never agreed to bring home a puppy with Giardia had we known the truth about it. read more

We were doing a lot of research on the English labrador breeders within a 250 mile radius when we discovered Graves Labradors. It is one of few local breeders with data going back 5 generations on each dog, including their genetic testing results. After talking with a number of breeders, we visited on site and felt that Graves was excellent. All the dogs had free range over a large area with plenty of shade and water. The puppies seem well cared for, with lots of hands on attention and sensory development. After touring the site, we decided to get our puppy from Graves. I wanted to make sure Grave's had an updated positive review on Yelp. We adopted a retired 8-year old "stud" from Graves in early April (during the middle of Covid-19) and we have found the absolute BEST labrador you could ever ask for. Bullwinkle, one of their top studs who has produced amazing and beautiful puppies for years, is now the perfect house pet and we love him. He's calm. He's loyal (like all labs) and he was quick to house train, learn to walk on a leash and loves the retired life. We are looking forward to adopting a puppy from Bullwinkle's final litter in July. Genia Graves runs a great business. She cares about all her dogs - males, females and puppies. Graves sells sick puppies!! Beware!! Let me say that we love our dog. She is sweet and beautiful but since we have brought her home we have been to the vet many times for Giardia intestinal infection and have spend HUNDREDS of dollars trying to treat it. The breeder knew she had this and told us it was not a big deal. It's a big deal when I'm cleaning puppy diarrhea on a daily basis. read more

As you can see from past reviews 2017,18,19. and now early 2021 this is a long ongoing problem that Gina allows to fester un-checked. We showed up to pick up our puppy and we were informed that our pup has giardia and were also told it is NO BIG DEAL!!! WELL GINA, ONCE AGAIN, IT IS A BIG DEAL AND YOU NEED TO GET THIS THROUGH YOUR HEAD!!!! As any person reading can see that there always seems to be a customer who comes over the top that writes a glowing review ( i am sure this will be the case here ) about how great every thing at Graves is and all but questions all of the past negative reviews. I will tell you that I back-up most of the praise and that I agree with the positive assessments about 90%. What I do not agree with is the practice of packing as many as 10- 15 pups( in our case ) in what equates to a 5ft. by 8ft. dog run. When I asked why so many pups her reply was always to socialize them. I can understand that but not to the extent it was for what seemed like a constant, 24/7. All they do is fight, bite each other and fight for space and navigate all the shit in the pen. When we visited and questioned all the shit in the pen she said the girl that helps out did not show for work! I got a good remedy for that Gina, it is called getting a shovel yourself. You would at least think, that on a day you know customers who were paying 1800 dollars for a puppy were coming to visit, that you would want your kennels to be clean? One day a strange, large black adult male just showed up in the pen, I asked Gina about the new housing arrangements and she said that it was her new dog from Mexico and that once again it was all about socializing. I am no vet but can anybody say quarantine. If our dog had this parasite when we picked him up how many others also had it is what one would need to ask themselves. My wife did not want me to write this as I to have reservations about doing so myself. This is the first thing I ever posted, good or bad but I felt compelled to shed more light on this on going problem at Graves Labs. To date it has been about 12 weeks, our pup has been to vet three times and continues to be on meds. Other than this NO BIG DEAL OF A PROBLEM our boy Rip is doing fine, he is a little fire cracker who we are loving to no end and we would not trade him for a millon dollars. One must beg to question and I would say again, if our pup had the parasite, how many others in the two litters plus that were combined for extended socializing probably left Graves with the same condition as our Rip did. You would also need to consider and include the much younger liter of pups right next door to be at risk!!!! read more

I did a lot of research and I found my perfect pup at Graves Labradors. I visited 3 times before I bought my pup. There are three large dog areas with sade and water. The dogs were all calm and well behaved. I did not see any fighting, at all. The dogs were happy and playing each time I visited. The labs are part english and part american and stunningly beautiful. The pregnant mom was inside and the newest litter was also inside. Once you have a deposit down on a pup you can watch them online. So cute. I found Genia to be a responsible breeder who loves labs. Our sweet Bailey is a perfect addition to our family! Bailey is healthy, sweet, smart and very calm. If we get a another pup, we will definitely go back to Genia at Graves Labradors! I lucked out finding my boy at Graves Labradors. I made my deposit sight unseen and picked him up late after a family tragedy. He was well cared for, happy and sweet. He was conditioned to be unafraid of fireworks and loving with children. Like another reviewer, my dog went through the drama of a Giardia parasite infection, but it began several months after he had come home. My Vet and I attributed it to drinking out of Monsoon ponds and wildlife in my yard. My adult toy dog was treated for the same affliction. Graves Labradors was responsive to my questions at that time, very helpful with advice on treatment and encouraging and supportive to me as the puppy parent. I have had nothing but compliments on the health and appearance of my dog from my Veterinarians and sporting dog lovers I meet.
