I'm looking for a new dentist. Thing is, I am a member of the Maryland Healthy Smiles program,…read morewhich is linked up to medicaid (I think) so I can't just go to any old dentist. First off, there are steps here. Because I am a wheelchair user, in order for me to get into an exam area I had to go around to the side of the business and come in the delivery door. I could not use the xray machine that revolves around the head because I'm too short and they don't have any sort of chair or stool to use. I was able to get x-rays the old fashioned way, where they make you bite down on those slides... Then I had to pay $30 out of pocket for the dental assistant to paint fluoride on my teeth, which peeled off throughout the day in a disgusting manner. She spent the entire exam recommending that I buy a $100 battery-powered toothbrush and the $50 replacement heads, cuz medicaid patients are just made of money, I guess. Thing is, she didn't want to sell the toothbrush personally. She suggested I get it on Amazon. Why the hard sell if she wasn't going to profit from it? I get through the exam and the actual dentist comes in. They discuss where I have cavities, they tell me I need to see an oral surgeon to get my wisdom teeth removed because at least two have cavities, but they never told me when to make the appointments or how to find a surgeon. It's been over a year since that appointment and I'm glad my teeth don't hurt because doing the research to find another dentist has been a pain in the butt. My boyfriend used the same dentist the week before to get three teeth removed. He's still in pain when he eats. Yes, a year later. He was present at my exam and mentioned his pain several times, but neither the dentist nor the assistant gave any cares. I cannot recommend this chopshop. There are many dentists in the dundalk area. Try one of those instead (though not the one on Merritt Blvd near jalapeños cuz the receptionists there don't know what they're doing). Good luck on your mission.

This is what this company is known for.

I was informed that I needed a root canal. I scheduled the root canal for 8/24/23 and paid my out of pocket cost. One day prior to my appointment, I was contacted and told me that they did not have a doctor to perform the procedure. After waiting over a month, only to be notified a day before the procedure is total negligence. They attempted to offer a reschedule at a different office a week later, I declined. I contacted that office directly and was told that I was unable to have the procedure performed there either, due to no doctor. I am glad I did not rely on them to schedule me. I would be out another week of time. I tried getting my records and x-rays to go somewhere else, but was unable to receive these records expediently. Apparently they have to get them from their main office, even though I was seen at the office that I was attempting to get the info from. I am so upset over this experience and the desk help and supposed manager could not understand why I was so upset! I should not have my insurance company charged for the initial visit, because now I have to start over somewhere else. I hope that I can find someone to do my procedure in a hurry so my surgery will not be postponed. I am in a lot of pain and really need this surgery to alleviate this pain. The negligence of this office will cause additional pain and suffering due to the lack of competence.

I have routinely had difficulty getting specific details out of dr. cho and his staff about procedures, and even basic scheduling. I have been coming to this office for over a year and it has become much worse as time has gone on. Recently, I called in with an urgent need after a filling (done by dr. cho) failed within a month of getting it. This left my tooth exposed and painful, which I communicated to the scheduling staff. After communicating this, I was given options (which were poorly explained) and we agreed on getting a pre-authorization from my insurance which I expected would not take much time. After waiting 24 hours to hear a response, I called the office back. When I asked about the status of the pre-auth, the scheduler laughed and told me the pre-auth would take two weeks to come back. I was also told that I would not be able to get the work scheduled for at least that much time as the dentist was going on vacation the next day. I'm not sure what was unclear about "I am in pain, and I need to have this fixed as soon as possible" but I did not get the impression that this office is concerned with urgency in any way shape or form. If you are in pain, or you think you might be in pain and need work done quickly and reliably, Dentalworks is not a good bet for you. Best to find another office that will actually follow-up, communicate with you on even the most basic level, and treat you as if your oral health is actually important to them.
