Three weeks ago (July 2026) I fired Grassmaster Plus as my lawn care company after a year and a half of service. Last August and September I was disappointed with the large number of weeds that had taken over my lawn. It was my first year with them. I decided to give them more time. It's now July of year two. Weeds are back and will be taking over soon. Dead, brown spots appeared after the last fertilization either from grubs or fertilizer burns. I've had enough. I called and canceled my service. I said I wasn't happy. They accepted my cancellation with no questions. I thought they might call after that to ask what was wrong and why they had been fired. Nothing. Awful!!! Do not use them! Same issues. I used them last year, and paid over 2,000 dollars for nothing. Still no growth. I wanted a one year trial, and then they automatically charged me this year, and did work without my permission, and I just received a bill for over 500 dollars! I've called 3 times and no one has returned my call. I'm not paying this, and they can talk to my lawyer. what a joke. Go get some fertilizer at home depot, safe yourself the aggravation. read more

I hired Grassmaster Plus, located in Georgetown, Ma, last year for mosquito & tick lawn care. I choose them because they were the least expensive, by forty dollars. You Get What You Pay For, I Learned! Their staff, wears no protective gear when applying the chemicals, which I believe is a reflection on the company. They came out yesterday & serviced my property, without being in contact to reestablish whether I wanted to continue doing business with them. In fairness to them, I was told they emailed me 8 times, which were never read by me. I contacted Grassmaster Plus yesterday, when I saw that they had been here without ever notifying me that they would be. I called them with my concern about not being notified or even being in agreement that I would be continuing with their company. I asked to speak to a supervisor & was told by Caitlin, that she would report back what they said. I asked again to speak to a supervisor & told that she would handle this. ( Caitlin was nice & put into an awkward position) Today, Grace called me & told me, she was a supervisor & has worked there for 47 years ( the company has not been in existence for that long!) Grace also informed me, that they automatically renew. I would suggest that you get a written or verbal response from your customer, before you continue that policy. I would never recommend your service, based on how this was handled People expect honesty & to be able to share their concerns with a company. I did not feel that way & would recommend additional training for you & your staff, so that you can provide a better experience for your customers. read more

We have had Grassmaster for almost 3 seasons. Our lawn looks terrible. They said they would be able to get our lawn in much better shape when we hired them. Last year I had to replant my entire front yard because their service was so poor. Cost was 4500.00+. Weeds everywhere, nut grass, and disease. This year they were a month late to treat with pre emergent and 6 weeks late to treat a fungus. They don't show up when they say they're going to and they don't return phone calls when there's a problem. They take your credit card OK and then delay service for weeks while your lawn suffers. When we first hired Grassmaster Plus in 2019, we were impressed with their technicians: they would ring the door, tell us what services they were applying that day, ask if we had any questions or concerns. After they finished the application they'd talk to us again, let us know if rain was expected or if we needed to water, advise if it was okay for pets to play on the grass, and hand us the invoice. During Covid the personal face-to-face service disappeared, but the technical work was still professional, and our lawn looked good. Our next-door neighbors signed up for the program. And then the service started going downhill, but we stuck with them hoping for the best. Weirdly, sometimes the techs serviced the lawn next door but not ours...or vice-versa. Strange since we're kind of a hike from Rowley, you'd think they'd do both at the same time. No big deal but our yard wasn't looking healthy anymore. Specifically by 2024 the edges of our yard were looking bad...lots of weeds. We'd try to catch the techs and let them know, but they were here and gone too fast. Zero interaction. I called the office, and Grace assured me that the technicians always make double rounds of the yard, first going around the perimeter applying by hand, then going back and broadcasting the center. So I decided to watch the next time. They did not work the perimeter, only a quick sweep in the middle of the yard. By the time I got downstairs to ask them to complete the service, the truck was gone. I called the office to ask them to send the tech back. Weeks later, a tech finally came back.....telling us yes the edges looked bad. Then tried to sell us an additional treatment for more $$. 2025, we're done. read more

we hired Grassmaster for our lawn this summer. At first they showed, aerated, seeded. All was fine. After that they never told us when they were coming or what they were doing. Just an email report the next day. Okay, they are doing what we asked. However, if you are fertilizing and applying pesticides you absolutely should give the client a heads up. Everything they suggested was an additional cost. You need a fungicide, more money. Again, never a notice we are coming tomorrow or this week. A few weeks ago my husband emailed them that we no longer need their services. We recently got a puppy. Yesterday, again without notice, they show up and applied fertilizer to our lawn after we told the salesman we no longer needed them. I looked up the chemicals and they are toxic to animals and dogs. My puppy likes to roll and chew the grass. Now I cannot even take her outside. Our lawn looks a bit better but we still have weeds and bald spots. They also showed up one day with a huge fogger. Guessing for mosquitoes. again, no prior notice. We should have been provided a full schedule with dates of service and what they were doing prior any applications. We would never want chemicals added the day before a party or if were having small children or animals around. My brother visits frequently with his dog. The cost for services is outrageous the least they could do is provide professional customer service. read more

We have used Grassmaster Plus for the last few years after disappointing service from True Green. The first years they did well. Last year was worse. This year has been terrible. Our lawn is filled with weeds (nut grass, violets, crab grass, etc.). We called to complain and were told a technician would come and take a look. No one came to our knowledge. We called again and were told our lawn had just been treated, but there was no sign. We pay for lawns on two homes. No more! read more

Believe the bad reviews. Horrible company! They forgot to treat my lawn in June. I called to say I had a horrible weed problem in July. Grace told me someone would be there within the week - no one came. Called again two weeks later still no one came for a month. Finally someone showed but didn't spray the weeds so I spent 3 hrs digging the weeds out myself. I sent them 2 emails complaining and asked that they waive the last payment of $78 to compensate me for the bad service. I didn't get a reply to my email but was sent to a collection agency for $78. Beware! Don't get involved with them. read more

Beware of doing business with Grassmaster Plus. Very shady ethics! We have tried to have a simple billing error corrected 3 times over 6 months. No dice. Our Issue --- We were a long time customer of both their lawn service and their tree service and paid them tens of thousands of dollars over the years. In early to mid March 2020 we informed their lawn division that we were moving on March 15 and discontinuing service and asked them to also pass this information along to the tree division. Apparently they forgot to notify their tree brethren. Despite the prior notice that we were moving - and with new owners in the house who decided not to use Grassmaster because they were more expensive than other options they considered - Grassmaster performed the tree service anyway. We thought no problem, communication mistakes happen and we have called several times to rectify the situation. Instead of capping off a 5 year relationship with a normal correction they referred us to a collection agency. I see that a previous customer had a similar issue with them. Buyer beware! By seeing the other reviews it appears that they too have had similar issues with Grassmaster. If everyone so far has given them 1 star - there might be an issue. read more

Been a customer for several years. The lawn service is on par with most of their competitors. So I would say that they are average as nothing really stands out to differentiate them from others. Grassmasters shrub and Mosquito treatment is pretty good and seems to be making a difference on the property. Overall I would recommend them to friends but would not oversell their service as it is very similar to others of I used in the past. read more

The absolute worse company you could do business with..., Contacted them in early March of 16 signed up to have them do the lawn service throughout the seasons. It has been nothing but excuses from the first day as to why they have not gotten to me. Here it is May 18 still have not. Last week i was told someone will absolutely be there the 17th. guess what no one came, called this morning, i was told someone will get right back to you. no one ever did.. I have purchased a program to include lawn and shrubs care. Cost was exactly $3372.00 for the season. The program included deer protection which by itself cost me exactly $800.00!! Deer ate the shrubs to the various degree and about 9 shrubs went fully dead for deer damage. Gerry (owner) came over and made an agreement to replace dead shrubs. Based on this agreement I renewed the service contract for year 2013. Gerry didn't do anything about replacement damaged shrubs regardless of multiple reminders. I shorted payment for services in amount of around $900 that is approximately cost of shrub replacement. For this amount I was reported to collection agency. I informed collection agency that I have a legitimate claim against the amount due but I was reported to credit bureau and my credit score went down 70 points. So far Grassmaster Plus damaged me 3 ways. $800.00 paid for services that were useless. I lost a lot of shrubs to deer eating, 9 of them need full replacement. My credit score went down 70 points. Please be very careful and think twice before trusting this company your grass and shrubs. read more

Gerry and team have been fantastic ever since we hired them last season to take care of our lawn. The grassmaster folks are always responsive to phone calls and emails and frequently check in to inform us of their visits and to see if we have any specific concerns. They also leave personalized notes after each visit letting us know what they have done and what to expect. After a year of service, our grass is the strongest and healthiest it has ever been. I have been a customer of Grassmaster plus for over five years and never have had a problem with their service. I have the lawn care and plant care package for my property and they always provide the service when needed, I never have to call them or remind them. When I notice something around the yard (discoloring on leaves or rot on a tree) and call them, they stop by usually that day and explain what it is. Sometimes it needs service (Gypsy moss) or other times it's something normal and no service needed. Neighbors comment on my lawn all the time and I have always recommended Gerry and Grassmaster PLus.
