Nice restaurant by the Leie, where people may sit and drink/eat while enjoying the view. There are heaters available.
We got a bitterballen to start - 10 pieces of fried meat croquettes with mustard. They also gave us a complimentary appetizer that looks/tastes like salmon mousse with a cracker.
We had homemade capellini bolognese and mussels cream and garlic as the entree. The portion is generous. The food are good but nothing to write home about. The price of the food/drink are higher than that of restaurants in Brussels but the quality is lower here; I guess you are paying for the view.
Of note, there is no (free) tap water available. So you must order something ($) if you want to drink. I ordered one of the cheaper alcoholic options - a reportedly award-winning Haeseveld beer, which truthfully tastes just like beer (I am not a beer drinker).
Overall, if you are very hungry or just want to sit and relax by the Leie in a restaurant, then I would suggest this place. If neither, then might as well sit on the steps of the Leie for free. read more
