I drive 45 minutes to get to Grapes & Hops & it has yet to disappoint me! I've always only had the wine slushees and they've been amazing! I love that they switch up the flavors to keep things from getting boring & keep people coming in. The owner always comes up & makes sure we're doing ok no matter who I'm with & he makes nice conversation, not the kind that feels forced. The urban feeling inside is nice & the outside seating are is cute! It's a nice little place to be in downtown Kankakee. Only downside to Grapes & Hops i have is that it is always freeeeeezing in there, so bring a jacket or something in case you aren't able to sit outside when it's warm out. read more

If you haven't had their Thanksgiving Christmas then you are missing out. We moved to California 4 years ago. We had some friends coming to visit us in 2017 from Kankakee that picked up some of the Thanksgiving Christmas mix. We had a dinner party for several friends that are native Californians that absolutely fell in love with this mix. We told them about our visit to Kankakee and had orders from several of them to pick up some of the mix. We went in today and our order was ready to go. I tried the flight of apple wines while my husband got to enjoy some maple whiskey that he loved. This is definitely a spot we will return to when we visit Kankakee. I've been coming here since they day they opened and will continue to do so!! I LOVE this place- it might just be the best thing in Kankakee. Such a nice relaxing environment (No TVs or loud bar music). Very clean!! Lots of tables, nice bar, and an outdoor patio. Check out their Facebook page for events- they often do things like paint night, crafts, etc which is fabulous since this town doesn't have much to do ever. They have various themed wine flights & wine slushies!! They also have craft beers, whiskey, and cheeses. Don't forget- G&H is open bright & early during the Kankakee Farmers Market (Saturday mornings May-Oct)!! I never ever yelp while eating but I often do when I am drinking so my grammar always makes me seem like an idiot. The spot is hip and perfectly sized with awesome owners who are always around. Service was expeditious. This hits the spot. Ordered some cheese and crackers with the amazing wine and beer selection. I am not a heavy dark beer drinker but they always have something for me on the lighter side. The COOLEST place!!! A winery, distillery, and brewery all in one. Not only did my husband find some tasty beers, but I tried the wine flight (delicious!) and The Peacock (an amazing slush). We had so much fun and even brought our furry friend. He loves the back patio and found plenty of shade under the umbrellas. Stopped by Grapes & Hops with some friends to catch up and it was the perfect place! Terrance, the owner was really awesome. He sat down with us and explained how everything worked and answered all of our many questions. He explained they offered wine by the glass, bottle, and in a flight option. They also offered cheese, craft beer, and whiskey. Afterwards we were able to sample their seasonal slushy wines and they were great! We all picked the wine flight (which offered 6 different wines of your choice) and it did not disappoint! The best part of all was that it was only 6 bucks....good wine and cheap?! You really can't go wrong here! We even sat for a while after finishing our wine and chatted as girls do and it was not a problem! I really enjoyed Grapes & Hops--the atmosphere was great. If I still lived in the area this would be a regular spot for me! I absolutely recommend. read more

My husband and I were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the cheese and drinks. We had the cheese board and also drank six different red wines and had the mango wine slushie. The beer feature of the month was coconut cream pale ale. It was very yummy. We sat outside and we found the environment to be very charming. The service was great too. I went into Grapes and Hops for the first time a few weeks ago. Love that they serve Illinois wines and local cheeses. Very reasonably priced, great atmosphere. Worst service I have ever gotten. 3 bartenders and after you finished your drink, it would take them another 45mins before they would even see if you wanted another. One time decided to order a few drinks, so I didn't have to wait so long to get another. I was then very rudely questioned, judged, and pretty much told that they were only going to bring one. Then, my sister in law showed up with other friends, so I wanted to order a bottle to send to their table. The servers were confused as to what I wanted. I had to order the bottle 3 different times and took them over an hour and a half to finally bring them a bottle. The bottle was charged to my group that I was with. Then, I had my own tab and paid for the bottle again. After everything and I was just trying to leave, one of the bartenders stopped me and said I didn't pay for the bottle of wine. Argued with him about paying for it twice and he wouldn't back down. So, I paid for 3 bottles of wine and my sister in law's table only got one. Worst experience with pompous hipster servers that were just down right rude. All the other reviews say the owners are always around and are amazing.
